19th Round of Heybeliada Talks
GPoT Center organised the 19th round of the Heybeliada Talks: Series of Second Track Diplomacy Meetings on Cyprus, on 21 November 2015 in Nicosia’s Buffer Zone, Cyprus.
The event took place with the participation of approximately 25 civil society activists, opinion makers, academics, journalists, and experts from Turkey, Greece, and both sides of Cyprus.
With the support of the British Embassy in Ankara, the event aimed to contribute to the speeded up search for a comprehensive solution of the Cyprus problem. During the meeting, the participants discussed the politics after the recent elections in Turkey and its effect on the negotiations, covering recent regional developments and the new incentives to resolve the Cyprus question.
Since 2008, the Heybeliada Talks have served as a multi-party dialogue platform for sincere exchange of ideas between main stakeholders on issues pertaining to the solution of the Cyprus question. The meetings originally started on the island of Heybeliada in the Sea of Marmara, and later relocated to Nicosia’s Buffer Zone.
