The Belgian Model: In the Light of Turkey's Constitutional Debate

On June 17th, 2011, GPoT Center organized a round-table meeting with the participation of Mr. François Del Marmol, the Consul General of Belgium in Istanbul.

The event, entitled "The Belgian Model: In the Light of Turkey's Constitutional Debate," was attended by Ms. Danielle Del Marmol, who serves on the Board of Trustees of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation, as well as academics from the Istanbul Kültür University, GPoT Center's High Advisory Board members, and journalists.

The guest speaker, Mr. Del Marmol, analyzed in detail the milestones in the history of the Kingdom of Belgium and drew implication for the current political situation in the country. He also explained the role and authority of the Federal, Regional and Communal parliaments and governments as well as cultural and lingual relations between people from the diverse Communities and Regions in the country. The speech by Mr. Del Marmol was followed by a fruitful session of questions and answers.
