Formal Book Launch of the Turkish Ambassador's Residence Book in Istanbul

It was the pleasure of GPoT Center to host the two co-authors, Caroline Mesrobian Hickman and John Edward Hasse, of the newly published book “The Turkish Ambassador’s Residence and the Cultural History of Washington, D.C.”

The second part of the book-launching events (the first took place at the Turkish Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C. on 10 June 2013) was held in Istanbul on July 11th, 2013 with the participation of journalists and academicians. The book was presented to the Turkish public with speeches by the co-authors of the book, Caroline Mesrobian Hickman and John Hasse, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Kültür University, Bahar Akıngüç Günver, the Rector, Semahat Demir and was moderated by Mensur Akgün.

The book examines the Turkish Embassy Residence, which has been significant in both the cultural life and the diplomatic relations between the U.S.A. and Turkey, through studies into the architecture of the building, diplomatic history, and jazz music. At the celebratory event in Istanbul, one of the co-authors of the book, also a pianist, John Edward Hasse, gave a mini concert for the participants.

In addition to participating in the events relating to the book-launch held by Istanbul Kültür University, Caroline Mesrobian Hickman gave a presentation on Palazzo Corpi, the former Residence of the U.S. Consul General in Istanbul, at the recent U.S. Consulate Residence and John Edward Hasse gave one on the Ertegün Brother’s music life at IKSV.
