13th Round of the Heybeliada Talks
At the 13th round of the Heybeliada Talks, journalists, opinion and political leaders, civil society representatives, and academics from both sides of Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey discussed the impact of the recent Turkish Cypriot elections on the new round of Cyprus talks under the auspices of the UN, which is expected to start in the fall.
The event, conducted under Chatham House rule, took place on August 1, 2013 in Nicosia’s Buffer Zone. In addition to the Turkish Cypriot elections, the participants also discussed the role of confidence building measures (CBMs) in the resolution process and exchanged ideas about what type of CBMs would best support a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus question.
The Heybeliada Talks have been organized by GPoT Center since 2008 with the aim of providing both communities in Cyprus with the opportunity to discuss issues related to the Cyprus question together with participants from Greece and Turkey.
GPoT Center would like to thank the Open Society Foundation – Turkey for sponsoring the 13th round of the Heybeliada Talks.
