GPoT Is a Proud Member of the "Middle East and North Africa Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict" Network
Dr. Mensur Akgün participated in the second yearly meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (MENAPPAC) in Beirut between the 18th and 19th of March, 2011.
GPoT Center is proud to be part of the MENAPPAC network. MENAPPAC was established in 2010, as a follow-up to the previously existing Arab Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict. The network has member organizations from the following countries: Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Turkey, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Syria, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Libya.
The meeting was concerned mainly with developing a joint long-term plan for the next five years, and an annual plan for 2011 and 2012. Building mutual understanding and trust was an important part of the meeting, too. In addition, some time was taken to develop and agree on joint statements regarding the recent political developments in the region.
