Rauf Denktaş and Michael Moran Write a Book | BRT
The Founding President of the TRNC Rauf Denktas and the British academician Michael Moran have promoted their book, `Cyprus: Unity and Difference`, at a special event at the Dome Hotel in Girne.
The book, `a discussion in a series of letters between Rauf Denktash and Michael Moran`, was published by the Global Political Trends Center, (GPoT) and the deputy director of the centre Sylvia Tiryaki was also present at yesterday’s event.
In her speech, Ms Tiryaki said that the Centre is proud of publishing a book written by two peoples whose knowledge on the Cyprus issue cannot be questioned.
For his part, Mr. Denktas provided detailed information about the history of the peace process launched in Cyprus.
He said that there were two reasons for him to be called as `Mr No`; the first was his insistence not to turn the Turkish Cypriots into a minority and the second was his insistence that Cyprus is not a Greek island.
He said that the political equality of the two sides and the existence of two partners as well as the realities on the island should not be ignored in bringing a solution to the Cyprus problem.
Academician Michael Moran, for his part, explained that the book defends the acceptance of the existence of two separate states for the solution of the Cyprus problem and the unification of the island.
