Power of One Conference 2012
Lenka Peťková, project officer at GPoT Center, participated in the inaugural Power of One Conference held in Nicosia's Buffer Zone between the 9th and 11th of October, 2012. The aim of the three-day event, which brought together some 200 participants from Cyprus, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa, was to provide a platform for inter-regional learning exchange on the role of citizens and civil society in stimulating social change during periods of transition.
The keynote speech of the conference, hosted by Peace it Together civil society network in Cyprus, was delivered by Mr. George Ishak, former general coordinator of the opposition movement Keffaya (“Enough”), and a co-founder of Egypt’s Revolution Party.
Delegates of institutions based in different countries, who participated in the event, developed 27 collaborative, inter-regional project proposals aiming to deliver social change and enhance partnerships between their respective institutions. Three projects were selected for funding by a vote of participants on the closing day of the event and three other ones will be selected for funding later on.
The first Annual Inter-regional Learning Exchange Conference was supported by UNDP, USAID, CYINDEP, EU, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and World Vision.
Lenka Peťková of GPoT Center participated in the event through the Regional Partnership for Culture and Development (RPCD) network of which GPoT Center is a proud member.
