Days Two and Three in Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement
Global Political Trends Center (GPoT) organized a workshop in collaboration with the Eurasia Partnership Foundation in Armenia (EPF) with the participation of Turkish and Armenian stakeholders, experts and journalists between the 24th and 28th of March, 2010 in Yerevan.
The workshop was carried out within the framework of the “Days Two and Three in Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement” Project conducted by GPOT and EPF and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
During the meetings, Turkish and Armenian experts discussed the ratification of the bilateral Protocols and the implementation process in both countries. The experts from both sides also tackled the obstacles to the application of the Protocols and elaborately discussed the joint strategies to effectively support the process. The subject of the impact of the normalization of the Turkish-Armenian relations on the Caucasus region was also handled by both sides during the meetings. Turkish participants of the event joined talk shows aired on TV in Armenia and also met with Vigen Sarkisian, Deputy Head of Administration of President Serj Sarkisian, to discuss the bilateral relations and regional politics.
The second leg of the project was to be carried out by participation of the Armenian opinion molders and experts on their visit to Turkey in the following months.

“Ermenistan-Türkiye Yakınlaşmasında İkinci ve Üçüncü Günler”
Küresel Siyasal Eğilimler Merkezi (GPoT) ile Avrasya Ortaklık Vakfı (EPF) Türk ve Ermeni uzman ve gazetecilerin katılımıyla 24-28 Mart 2010 tarihlerinde Erivan’da bir atölye çalışması gerçekleştirdi.
Söz konusu çalışma GPoT, EPF ve Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Uluslararası Kalkınma Kuruluşu (USAID) tarafından yürütülen “Ermenistan-Türkiye Yakınlaşmasında İkinci ve Üçüncü Günler” Projesi kapsamında gerçekleşti.
Toplantılar sırasında Türkiyeli ve Ermenistanlı taraflar iki ülke arasında imzalanan Protokoller’in her iki ülkede onaylanma ve hayata geçirilme sürecini tartıştı. Her iki taraftan uzmanlar aynı zamanda Protokoller’in uygulanmasının önündeki engelleri değerlendirdi ve bu süreci etkin şekilde desteklemek için ortak stratejileri tartıştı. Toplantıda Türkiye-Ermenistan ilişkilerindeki normalleşmenin Kafkasya bölgesine olan potansiyel etkileri de değerlendirildi. Türkiye’den giden katılımcılar toplantılar süresince aynı zamanda Ermenistan televizyonunda tartışma programlarına katılma ve Cumhurbaşkanı Serj Sarkisyan’ın Hükumet Genel Sekreter Yardımcısı Vigen Sarkisyan ile ikili ilişkiler ve bölgesel siyaset konusunda görüşme fırsatı buldular.
Söz konusu Proje’nin ikinci ayağı önümüzdeki aylarda Ermenistan’dan gelecek kanaat önderleri ve uzmanların katılımlarıyla Türkiye’de gerçekleştirilecek.
