Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) has been selected as a member of the Networks Strategy Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), one of the most important international platforms in the field of sustainable development. SDSN is a solution development network and United Nations initiative formed by universities, research centers, think tanks, non-governmental organizations and the business world from various countries of the world. The main purpose of this network is to collaboratively develop problem solutions for sustainable development by mobilizing stakeholders.

Within the scope of the EIT HEI BoosTalent project, of which Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Technology Transfer Office is the project partner, the hybrid "BoosTalent Entrepreneur Camp" was organized between 23-25 April. The cities of Varna, Tromso, Istanbul, Burgenland and Kiev participated in the BoosTalent Entrepreneur Camp, which opened the startup world to students and young scientists.

Istanbul was represented by IKU Technology Transfer Office. In 3-day interactive workshops, participants examined their communications, customers and business plans and developed earth-centered business plans using the Earth-Centered Business Design Framework, the sustainable business framework of the University of Edinburgh.

Türkiye was represented by 4 teams at the event;

Phoneq: Development of a multi-purpose hardware kit for smartphones.
Homesick: An interior design app that focuses on the challenges homeowners face in visualizing and deciding on home decorating options, as well as finding reliable contractors for renovation projects.
Guaranton: A web application that digitizes warranty documents and offers cloud-based solutions to companies.
Disaster Tank: Disaster tank for use in emergencies.

Haldun Taner's immortal work "I Close My Eyes and Do My Duty" was staged with the rendition of İKÜ Theater Club on Tuesday, April 30, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. The play, centred on two friends, one naive and the other vigilant, was well received, making the audience laugh and think.

We congratulate İKÜ Theater Club for their endeavours and the extraordinary work they have done.

The "KRONOPOP" concert was held with the joint efforts of IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) and Orchestra IKU, on Thursday, May 2, at 19.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. At the concert, the most popular Turkish pop songs from the 90s to the present were performed by Orchestra IKU. The audience enjoyed themselves, experiencing joyous moments at the concert, in which important songs of Turkish pop such as "Tavla", "Zor Kadın" and "Sarışın" were sung.

Our Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu participated as a panelist in the "Women in Architectural Education and Professional Practice: Obstacles and Expansions" panel, hosted by Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Architecture and Design, on Monday, April 29, 2024. Nilay Ünsal Gülmez moderated the panel in which the issue of women's visibility in architectural education and profession was discussed from the perspective of past, present and future. The panel, which continued until late hours, was watched with interest.

IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema held an interview titled "Star System in Türkiye and Fikret Hakan" on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 13.00, in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in Ataköy building, with the presentation of Prof. Dr Nigar Pösteki.

Prof. Dr Nigar Pösteki talked about the roots of the star system based on Hollywood cinema and the way the system is applied in Turkish Cinema. The acting career and strong literary aspect of Fikret Hakan, one of the successful actors of Turkish cinema, were evaluated with examples from his films and books.

The event ended after Prof. Dr. Nigar Pösteki answered the questions of the participants.

"Gümüşlük Festival Area Design Workshop" was organized by Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture between 19-21 April 2024 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

In the workshop conducted by our Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu and Department of Architecture academicians Assist. Prof. Mehmet Emre Arslan, Dr. Suzan Sanlı Esin, lecturer Kerem Ganiç and Res. Assist. İdil Akkuzu, 21 students, who formed four groups under the leadership of four mentors from our Department of Architecture graduates, developed suggestions for the festival area.

As a result of discussions with Art Director Eren Levendoglu, who has been organizing events for many years in Gümüşlük Festival Area, which has historical value as an ancient quarry 4 suggestions produced in the workshop held as a social responsibility project were submitted by the jury members (Defne Akşin Akyol, Şeyda Arguner, Eren Artu, Begüm Yılmaz Bilgin, Caner Bilgin, Ali Çalışkan, Gonca Arık Çalışkan, Yüksel Demir, Eren Levendoğlu, Cem Sorguç, Nejat Yavaşoğulları, Ayhan Usta, Erguvan Özgür Ünal) were submitted for evaluation.

An event titled "What Visual Art Makes You Think" was organized by İKÜ Vocational School on Friday, April 26, 2024. At the event, where painter Meriç Akçam participated as a speaker, topics aimed at gaining different perspectives such as the concept of visual art, creativity in visual art, awareness and thought were discussed.

Department of Communication and Design met with academician Dr. Murat Uluk on Thursday, May 2, within the scope of "İTB Art Workshops" events. Following a presentation about the basic concepts, techniques and current trends in web design, a workshop was held on the different stages of creating a comprehensive website and basic web development languages such as HTML and CSS. The issues of designing user-friendly, visually appealing and mobile-friendly websites were discussed at the event.

An event was held on Friday, April 26, 2024, for Non-tenured Lecturers teaching in IKU Vocational School (Vocational School) programs. Certificates of appreciation were presented to DSÜ faculty members by Vocational School Deputy Directors lecturer Kerem Yücesan and lecturer Gözde Kuzu Uluçay for their efforts and contributions to our university.

The article titled "THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE TECHNOLOGY SECTOR: THE CASE OF A TURKISH CONSULTANCY COMPANY", prepared by Assist. Prof. İlayda Ülkü, Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, together with her graduate student Eda Gözütok, was accepted to be published in the Engineers and Machinery Magazine.

Child Development Program will organize a conference titled "Are You Ready for a Preschool Spatial Journey?" in order to provide participants with information about spatial skills and share practical information. The event, where Bihter Aydan and Cansu Bozkurt Özkan from DİS Academy Consultancy Center will be speakers, will be held on Monday, May 6, at 10.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize a trip to the System Denim factory in Kırklareli on Monday, May 6, to show students the factory processes on site.

A conversation titled "Talks of Good 'Quality' on Aviation" will be organized by the Vocational School in order to support the career planning processes of the students. The event, where THY Quality President & Turkish Technic Board Member Bilal Tek will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, May 6 at 10:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

A technical trip will be held by the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering to DEKA Electronics on Monday, May 6th.

A workshop titled "The Castle Within Us" will be held by the PDR Club to inform students about the introduction to art therapy in the field of psychological counseling. The event, where Psychological Counselor Ramazan Gürbüz will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, May 6 at 13.00 in the conference hall of the Küçükçekmece campus.

An event titled "IKU TALKS" will be organized by the Business Club to support the career planning processes of the students. The event, in which athlete & digital content creator Barış Okan Belovacıklı will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, May 6 at 14.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

The Department of English Language and Literature will organize an event titled "ViaTalks 2024: Crime Scene: Narratives of Crime and Criminal Psychology", where the reflections of the "crime" theme in literature will be examined and its meanings in psychology will be discussed. The event, which will be attended by academicians and writers from the field of literature and psychology as speakers, will be held on May 7-8 between 10.00-16.30 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Special Education will organize an interview titled "Use of Speech-Producing Devices for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder" in order to introduce the process of using technological tools and software to teacher candidates. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Derya Genç Tosun from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Department of Special Education will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 in the conference hall of Küçükçekmece campus.

Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will organize an interview titled "Sales and Marketing in Tourism" where tourism sales and marketing sectoral applications will be discussed. The event, where JW Marriot Ankara General Manager Hakan Arslan will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 12:00 in the İncirli building of Bakırköy campus. 

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, the event titled "Personal Brand Workshop & Content Marketing" will be held in order to share applied information with students about building strong brand identity and brand positioning. The event, in which Social Entrepreneur & Digital Marketing Influencer Gözde Rana Yılmaz will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 13.00 in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

A "Postgraduate Alumni Panel" will be held by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Graduate Education Institute at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus on Tuesday, May 7 at 13.00 in order to enable our graduates to convey their experiences to our students.

A conference titled "The Invention of The Teenager in Türkiye" will be held by the Department of International Relations to inform students about how youth is built as a political category in Türkiye. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yücel from Galatasaray University will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 13.00 in the classroom number B Block B5-02 in Küçükçekmece campus.

The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema will hold a panel talk titled "Actor Management and Agenting in Cinema and Television with Buket Kahraman" on Tuesday, May 7 at 13.00 at the 1st floor multipurpose hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will organize a seminar to inform students about Huawei charging stations and infrastructure. The event, in which Huawei Electric Vehicle Charging Network Group Director Ekrem Gültekin will be a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 15.00 in the lecture hall numbered B1-5 in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Criminal Law Application and Research Center (CEHAMER), an event titled "Evaluation of Criminal Responsibility in Crime Behavior Due to Neurobiological and Hereditary Causes of Violence" will be held. The event, where Dr. Ute Franz, Prof. Dr Nevzat Alkan, Assoc. Prof. Münevver Mertoğlu and Assist. Prof. Özge Sırma Gezer will be the speakers, will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 10:00 at the CEHAMER Twin Hall of Bahçelievler campus.

The Department of Nursing will organize a conference titled "Nursing from the Past to the Future" as part of the "Nursing Week". The event, in which Prof. Dr. Türkinaz Atabek Aştı from Bezmialem University will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 13.00 in Block C seminar hall of Bahçelievler campus.

The Department of Economics will organize a talk titled "Food Market and Sustainability in Türkiye" to inform students about food markets and sustainability. The event, in which Buse Tellioğlu Altındiş, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tellioğlu Group of Companies, will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 13.00 at Küçükçekmece campus.

IKU Design Factory will organize a workshop titled "Imagination". The event, in which Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Selda Salman Sakızlı from our Department of Radio, Television and Cinema will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 14.00 at the Design Factory in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Criminal Law Application and Research Center (CEHAMER), the event titled "Functions of the Caste: The Principles of Norms and Accusation Theories in Criminal Law" will be held. The event, where Prof. Dr Urs Kindhauser will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 14.00 at the Bahçelievler campus Fahamettin Akıngüç Amphitheater.

A "Spring Concert" will be given by the Turkish Folk Music Choir on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 19:30 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus

"Sustainability and Innovative Technologies Symposium" will be organized in cooperation with the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Industrial Engineering in order to bring together business people and academicians working/researching on sustainability. The symposium will be held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Thursday, May 9, 2024 between 09.00-19.00.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club and the Department of Communication Arts, a panel talk titled "The Rise of Digital Marketing" will be held to discuss the place and importance of social media in today's digitalized world. The event, in which Ilayda Bilek, Founder of Küçük & Co, will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 9 at 12:00 on the 5th floor C corridor classroom 11-13 of Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature will organize a conference titled "The Voice of Turk's Heart on the One Hundred and Thirtieth Anniversary of His Birth: Aşık Veysel" to commemorate the Turkish folk singer and poet Aşık Veysel. The event, in which Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki from Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Prof. Dr. Cihangir Terzi from Istanbul Technical University will be the speakers, will be held at Bakırköy Youth and Sports District Directorate Ataköy International Youth Center on Thursday, May 9 at 13.00.

A panel talk titled "Keeping Up-to-date on Your Digital Career Journey-II" will be held with the joint efforts of the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication. The event, in which TOGG User Experience Specialist Berk Sarper Şenol is to be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 13.00 in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

A panel talk titled "How to Maintain Long Distance Relationships?" will be organized  by Program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling in order to inform students about long distance relationships.  The event, in which  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazlı Büşra Akçabozan Kayabol from Bahçeşehir University is to be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 14.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

An "Interview with the Consul General of Belgium" event will be organized with the joint efforts of the Faculty of Law and the International Law Club, in order to share insights on international law issues to students.  The event, in which the Belgian Consul General Tim Van Anderlecht will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 16.00 at the Bahçelievler campus.

The "2nd SCIENCE and YOU" conference will be organized by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club to introduce multidisciplinary domains to students.  The event, in which Prof. Dr.  Meral Yüksel from Marmara University, Prof.  Dr.  Günnur Deniz from Istanbul University, Prof.  Dr.  Soner Doğan From Yeditepe University, and Prof. Dr.  Ahmet Tarık Baykal From Acıbadem University are to be the speaker, will be held on Friday, May 10, at 13.30 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

An event titled "Creative Thinking Workshop"  will be organized by the Department of Foreign Languages, to support the development of students’ creative thinking skills,  on, Friday, May 10, at 14.00 in Bahçelievler campus classroom 107.

A conference titled  “Comparison of Current Health Systems-2: Case Study of Germany and Türkiye”  will be held with the joint efforts of İKÜ Vocational School and Health Club, in which how the changing economic and political situations in the globalizing world reflect themselves on the health systems is to be discussed.  The event, in which Ataşehir District Health Directorate Education Coordinator Tuğba Sönal is to be the speaker, will be held on Friday, May 10, between 15.00-16.30 in the amphitheatre 1A-01 in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

A concert performance will be given by Istanbul Kültür University Turkish Sign Language Choir on Friday, May 10, at 19.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.  The choir, formed by selecting students who received 120 hours of Sign Language Training during the year, under the tutorage of Sign Language Instructor and Translator Eser Dalyan, will hold its third concert to raise money for the Turkish Spinal Cord Paralytics Association (TOFD).
