Nearly two thousand students experienced the joy of graduation at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) 2023-2024 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony. At the ceremony, which was held in four sessions on July 2 and 3, 2024 at the Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Show Center, approximately two thousand students graduating from eight Faculties, two Vocational Schools and the Institute of Graduate Studies threw their caps, and the total number of graduates of our university has reached 37 thousand.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) 2024 Graduation Ball was hosted at Portaxe Baltalimanı on Monday, July 1. At the ball, which was held with the participation of our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees & IKUMED Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, and IKUMED Board Members, our graduates enjoyed the DJ performance after the graduation cake was cut.

A new education was provided under the management of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil within the scope of the RESLOG Türkiye Project supported by Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality. MTSO Atölye 1886 hosted the training, which was held to prepare Mersin agriculture and food sector representatives for the adaptation process to the EU Green Deal. While the participants obtained detailed information about the Paris Climate Agreement and the EU Green Deal, as well as the EU Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism, they evaluated the possible effects of Türkiye agricultural and food products on exports to the EU market. The training also discussed the potential effects of climate change on product diversity, water management strategies and products requiring low water consumption. The difficulties encountered in the process of harmonization with EU standards and the project and financing opportunities for green transformation were also explained to the participants in detail.

As a result of the evaluation made by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK), Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering was entitled to receive MÜDEK Accreditation which is valid from 01.07.2024 until 30.09.2026.

Our Assist. Prof. Neslihan Fatma Er, President of Student Life, Career and Alumni Advisory Unit (Kültür Point), represented our university at the international conference titled “Re-Shaping Career Planning: Bridging Gaps” which was held at the Middle East Technical University (METU) Culture and Convention Center between 24-26 June 2024, with the support of Presidential Human Resources Office (CBİKO) Talent Acquisition and Organization Department.

At the conference where great practice examples of university career centers abroad were shared by the officials of the relevant universities, sessions were held on improving the corporate relations of career centers, next generation job search strategies, interview techniques and career development.

University career center managers, relevant academicians and practitioners from universities in the United States of America, European and Turkic States attended the event.

"Applied Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Workshop" was organized in the laboratories of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics between the dates 24 and 26 June 2024, sponsored by Gen-Era Diagnostics. In the workshop where Field Application Specialist Erdi Kara, Technical Product Specialist Gizem Alkurt and Sales Specialist Sahra Aras introduced the new generation sequencing technology with the "Illumina iSeq 100" device; genomic DNA isolation from bacteria, qualitative and quantitative analysis, PCR, library preparation and new sequencing were performed. The workshop, supporting the theoretical knowledge with practical trainings, was attended by our department faculty members as well as our master's and doctoral students and undergraduate students with TUBITAK-2209A projects.

“Basic First Aid Training” was held on 1-2 July 2024, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Asiye Gül and Assist. Prof. Mukaddes Turan Miral, our academicians from the Department of Nursing of Faculty of Health Sciences.

A cooperation contract will be signed between Istanbul Kültür University and Pakistan Foundation University on Tuesday, July 9, between 10.00-11.30 a.m., organized by the International Relations Unit.

As part of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, the film "Anatomy of July 15 from the Occupation Attempt to the Resurrection" will be screened by Kültür Point at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, on Friday, July 12, at 09.00.
