APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR AKINGÜÇ AWARDS 2024

The application topic for the 2024 Akıngüç Awards, which is a symbol of the philosophy of scientific encouragement and support of the founder of Istanbul Kültür University, Kültür College, and Kültür College Foundation, Civil Engineer (M.Sc.) Fahamettin Akıngüç, and the Akıngüç family, has been announced. This year, awards will be given in the field of “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences.” The award process will be carried out by the Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences. Applications for the Akıngüç Awards will be open until November 1, 2024, and the results will be announced on December 2, 2024. Researchers who have been working in the field of Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences for the last five years are eligible to apply for the Akıngüç Awards 2024, and applications shall be submitted via email to akingucodulu2024@iku.edu.tr.

Assist. Prof. Gizem Şimşek Kaya’s New Book Has Been Published

The book titled “50. Sanat Yılında Michael Haneke” by Asst. Prof. Gizem Şimşek Kaya, a faculty member of our university’s Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, has been published.

Future-Shaping Expertise Training Programs Begin

Training programs in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Driving Technologies, and Chip Design have been implemented by T.R. Ministry of Industry and Technology in order to develop the qualified workforce needed in line with our country’s National Technology Move.

In the 2024-2025 Academic Year, training programs developed in three main areas, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Driving Technologies, and Chip Design, will be carried out.

In the field of Artificial Intelligence, Data Processing and Integration Expertise Training will be provided in partnership with Arçelik, Baykar, Cezeri, Havelsan, Huawei, and Tübitak. In the field of Autonomous Driving Technologies, Autonomous System Development Expertise Training will be offered in partnership with Aselsan, AVL, Baykar, Fev Türkiye, Ford, Togg, and Tübitak. In the field of Chip Design, Digital Design and Verification Expertise Training will be conducted in partnership with Ankasys, Electra IC, Elevation, Tütel, and Yongatek.

The training programs are designed for the 3rd and 4th-year students of relevant university departments (see: https://mtabasvuru.sanayi.gov.tr/giris-yap), consisting of 5 weeks of foundational training followed by 25 to 30 weeks of specialized training. The curriculum will be delivered to students by the partner companies within the scope of the specified program titles.

During the program, students will prepare midterm and final projects as part of their education. Additionally, mentorship support will be provided to students by the program’s partners during the entire process. Students who successfully complete the program will be offered internship opportunities at the companies where they received their training.

Application criteria and the announcement poster are included in the attachment. Applications started on August 26, 2024, and will end on September 16, 2024.

PROJECT CYCLE MANAGEMENT (PCM) TRAINING

A great opportunity for those looking to advance in project management! IKU TTO is organizing a Project Cycle Management (PCM) Training aimed at teaching the fundamental principles and effective techniques of project management.

The training will take place on October 18-19, 2024, at Istanbul Kültür University’s Ataköy Campus, in the Multi-Purpose Hall on the 1st floor. To be led by Cüneyt GENÇ, this training aims to equip participants with the skills to manage projects from start to finish. The content will cover project planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation processes, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Participants will gain practical experience through hands-on activities alongside theoretical knowledge.

Registration will be done via the QR code at the office, and the final registration date is September 13, 2024. A certificate will be given at the end of the training. Anyone looking to take their career project management skills to the next level is welcome to join. Don’t miss this opportunity!

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Department of International Relations Orientation Program

Istanbul Kültür University Department of International Relations will organize an "Orientation Program" for our foreign students enrolled in our university in the 2024-2025 Academic Year. The program, in which our university will be introduced to our students, will be held on Tuesday, September 10, between 10.00 a.m. and 15.00 p.m. via the CATS platform.
