In Turkey, the 97th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic that crowned democracy and that placed the rule “Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the People.” in the state administration was celebrated with the events held at Istanbul Kültür University. 

Due to the new Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), the event, by taking into account the social distance rules, started with the singing of the National Anthem and the presentation of a wreath to the Atatürk Monument  in the front garden of Ataköy campus on Wednesday, October 28 at 10.15. 

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Güzel made the opening speech of the ongoing program held at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center with the participation of  our Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Güzel, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer, our deans, academic and administrative staff.  

 In the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index of 2020, Istanbul Kültür University has succeeded in being in the top 50 list, according to 22 indicators in four dimensions.

The results of "Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index of the Year 2020" created under the leadership of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) was announced today (05/11/2020) by Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank.

In the GYÜ Index, our Istanbul Kültür University has succeeded in being in the top 50 list in the ranking made according to 22 indicators in four dimensions: "scientific technological research competence", "intellectual property pool", "cooperation and interaction" and "economic contribution and commercialization". 

Under the leadership of TÜBİTAK, 1 million data sets collected from 185 universities with more than 50 faculty members, along with our university IKU, other 14 foundation universities and 36 state universities were included in the GYÜE 2020 top 50 list that was prepared with a 9-month study with the contribution of 282 institutions including the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Council of Higher Education, Presidency of Defense Industry, Ministry of Treasury and Finance, KOSGEB, TÜRKPATENT, TAGEM, TTGV, TÜBA, Center for European Union Education and Youth Programs and Universities.“INTEGRATION WITH THE ENTREPRENEURIAL INNOVATIVE UNIVERSITY AND SOCIETY GOAL 2: Increasing research performance; to advance in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation.”, is among the four main objectives in the 2018-2022 Strategic Plan of our university. Being in the top 50 in the GYU index should be considered as a very important development in the process of achieving our GYU goal.

Atatürkist Thought Club organized a webinar titled “Atatürk and the Republic” within the scope of October 29 Republic Day events. 

Assist. Prof. Burak Kaan Yılmazsoy, a graduate of IKU Department of Architecture, who participated as a speaker in the event held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 through Cats Collaborate, gave information about the Republic Period Revolutions and the structuring of the state. 

Assist. Prof. Yılmazsoy who stated that during the foundation years of the Republic, important municipalities and zoning problems were encountered, explained that the solutions and applications sought played an important role in the development of the municipality understanding of the Republic. He visually conveyed the development stages of the buildings before and after the Republic with sample pictures and projects. 

Our graduate who continued with the importance Atatürk attaches to the environment and trees, finished his speech with the decision text that was taken to Unesco by unanimous vote of 152 nations on the 100th anniversary of Atatürk's birth, "Who is Atatürk?".  

IKU Alumni Relations Club organized a webinar titled “Long Live the Republic” as part of the October 29 Republic Day events. 

İKÜ Faculty of Law 2018 graduate Atty. Nazlı Gülce Başak who participated as a speaker in the event held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 12:00 on Cats Collaborate, emphasized the meaning and importance of the Republic. 

Atty. Nazlı Gülce Başak, who also expressed the rights given to women by the Republic, ended her speech as “Today every educated Turkish woman owes this Republic. So is mine… I am not sure if I can repay this debt as long as my life lasts. At least I'll try to pay…”

On Saturday, November 7, "Within the Scope of Measures of Back to Our Campuses After COVID-19", places announced by KOVKOM; the offices, classrooms, lecture halls and common areas, at Ataköy Campus, used by our academic and administrative staff will be disinfected with the ULV system against viruses. 

U.L.V. (Ultra Low Volume) system;
Is an aerosol mist generation system created with an extremely fine spray technique. The solution used is divided into particles so that it stays in the air for a long time, extending the contact time with the surfaces, thus providing the most effective / most economical fight against viruses with the least active substance. 

With U.L.V. machines, all areas should be disinfected against viruses and the points to be considered in this regard;
Before the disinfection process begins, all employees are responsible for emptying their desks and work areas. (objects and documents on the table)
All electronic equipment must be in the "off" position.
Sensitive equipment should be covered and these equipment should be cleaned manually with a disinfectant by the user.
The area will be sprayed with a ULV machine, kept closed for 60 minutes for the contact of the disinfectant, then ventilated for 60 minutes.

Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture brings together the world's famous architects with their students and the architectural environment online in the 2020-2021 Fall Semester. The first speaker of the conference series was the famous American Architect & Academician Eric Owen Moss. Eric Owen Moss, who received his master's degree in Architecture from Harvard and California Berkeley universities, designed and built projects in his country and in different parts of the world under Eric Owen Moss Architects in Los Angeles-California; At the conference titled “The Day The Sun Stood Still”, which was held with great interest on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, he made an impressive presentation including both the theoretical understanding of architecture and how these were transformed into practice. The conference ended with the questions of the participants. 

Conference series; MIT Dean and 2020 Venice Biennale Curator Hashim Sarkis will continue on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 with the participation of British Architect & Academician Ian Ritchie on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Business Management Program students put their signature under a social responsibility project by wearing pink to raise awareness that early diagnosis is the most important factor in breast cancer, in which dozens of women die every year around the world. Within the scope of IKU Human Resources Club activity, the study conducted during the breast cancer week; our teachers Lecturer Gözde Bircan, Lecturer Kübra Mertel and Lecturer Emine Anık also supported them.

Founder of PATTU Architecture, Cem Kozar, was the first guest of the seminar series organized within the scope of the "Exhibition and Exhibition Venues Design" course conducted by Assist. Prof. Handan Güzelci, one of our academicians from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The event was held on Thursday, October 22 at 10.30 over CATs Meetings.

Elif Ağaoğlu (2019-Team leader), Furkan Şanlı (2017-Assistant) and Beyza Portakal (2019), graduates of IKU Architecture Department, won the 1st Honorable Mention Award in Kayseri Melikgazi Meeting Point Idea Competition. We congratulate our graduates and wish them continued success.

Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 11:00, Assist. Prof. Mert Bozkurt, one of the partners of Mom Design Studio, who has designed and implemented many exhibition stands in Turkey and abroad within the scope of the "İÇM0914 Fairground Design" course conducted by Handan Güzelci held a seminar. 

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School (MYO) Tourism and Hotel Management Program continues to establish professional collaborations to train qualified graduates by bridging the academic world and the business world. Pelin Fatma Tuna, Head of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program, and Atalay Arıcıoğlu, Sales Director of Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Merter came together and reached an agreement on the education to be offered to our students, partial and full time job opportunities.

Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Education academic staff and also the European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECER) Turkey Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Toran took place as a speaker in the webinar titled "International Narratives about COVID - 19 and Early Childhood" organized for the 5th time by EECERA Convocation on October 27-28. An academician from IKU Vocational School (MYO) Health Institutions Management Program Lecturer Kübra Mertel’s article titled "A Research on the Mediating Role of Supportive Organization Climate in the Effect of Transformational Leadership Style on Information Sharing", was published in Turkish Studies-Social Sciences. 

Works of Assist. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ, one of our academicians at the Art and Design Faculty, Department of Art Management, took part in the "October Parade" exhibition organized by Adana Metropolitan Municipality 75th Year Art Gallery between October 16-25, within the scope of October 29 Republic Day.

In cooperation with the Cultural Point and the Department of Industrial Engineering, an event titled "Alumni Meetings" was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at 15.30 on CATS Calloborate. 

Our graduates of the Department of Industrial Engineering Burak Koç, Eren Kalem, Neslihan Semiz and Dilan Limoncu who attended the event as speakers; They conveyed their experiences in business life and their competencies in their work to our students. 

Our alumni working at LC Wakiki company ended their speech by answering the questions of our students. 

An e-seminar titled “Sector Meetings-1” was held on Thursday, November 5th in cooperation with IKU Vocational School (MYO), Kültür Point and Optician Club. In the seminar where Atasun Optik Training and Development Manager Betül Deniz Yetim was a speaker; Information was given about the career journey, internship program, development goals, customer relations and practices of the company in the pandemic process. At the end of the event, our students' questions about the sector were also answered. 

Deniz Dokgöz was the second guest of the seminar series organized within the scope of the “Interior Architecture Project I-II” course conducted by Assist. Prof. Armağan Seçil Melikoğlu Eke, Lecturer Şerif Tolga Erdem and Research Assistant Furkan Evliyaoğlu, our academicians from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The event was held on Tuesday, November 3 at 16:00 over CATS Meetings.

The Entrepreneurship Department started its 2020-2021 Fall Semester activities with a webinar titled "Brand Design and Brand Journey for Entrepreneurs", directed by Assist. Prof. Begüm Teraman, on Wednesday, November 4. In the first of the webinar series, Brand and Story Designer Özgür Ahmet Köse made suggestions to entrepreneur candidates on the importance of brand design and emphasized what entrepreneurs should pay attention to in their idea of modeling processes. In the event held with the active participation of students; recommendations were given to entrepreneurs such as the importance of thinking simple, catching the right time and taking action before favorable conditions occur, that is, being the first and focusing on problems.

DataTurkey is a database application that combines Turkey's economic, social, sectoral and regional data and offers it to its users. It is designed as a solution to problems that make life difficult for researchers, such as corporate clutter in our national statistics and indicator system and limited access to data. Thanks to the regularly updated DataTurkey application, it is possible to  accessing the selected data of many institutions and organizations from a single platform, managing data easily, making static and dynamic reporting, producing time series or panel data tables, reflecting indicators on graphics, downloading and using defined tables and graphics in various formats, examine metadata files. 

DataTurkey database was opened to trial access of IKU until 20 November 2020.

"Experiencing Istanbul Workshop" will be organized by the Department of Architecture in order to conduct theoretical discussions and to produce architectural studies on the subject to be given. The workshop, which will be given by one of our academicians Assist. Prof. Esin Hasgül, and our lecturers Research Assistant E. Merve Aksoy Oral and Research Assistant Dilara Gür, will be held on Saturday, November 7 between 09.00-18.00 on the CATS platform.

İKÜ Film Workshop will organize the “IKU Film Workshop 2020-2021 Term Opening Meeting” where the annual plan and structure of the club will be shared. The event, in which Sefa Doğru from Necmettin Erbakan University Fine Arts Faculty will share his experiences, will be held on Monday, November 9 at 16.30 on CATS.

Molecular Biology and Genetics Club, will hold a webinar titled "Life with COVID-19: How Normal Is the New" Normal?" in order to give information about the working principle of the COVID-19 laboratory and the fillation studies in Istanbul. The event, where Muhammet Ali Hazar from Mental HR & Consultancy company will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 10:00 on Adobe Connect Classroom Application. 

The Department of Communication and Design will organize an e-conversation titled "The Evolution of the Concept of Culture in Anthropological Perspective: A Brief History" in order to provide students with information about the subject within the scope of the "Culture and Modernization" course and to create a discussion environment through various examples. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Erkan Sakan from Bilgi University will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 17:00 over CATS.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize an e-seminar in order to explain the concept of the producer that students need when performing film projects and what needs to be done when searching for a producer within the scope of the course “Cinema and TV Administration and management”. The event, where Yapım Lab Founder Zeynep Atakan will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 15:00 over CATS.

In cooperation with IKU Vocational School and Human Resources Club; An e-seminar will be held in order to shed light on our students who are curious about the recruitment processes in the private sector by providing information on the applications of human resources processes in companies and who want to make career planning in the field of HR. The Department of Psychology will organize an e-seminar titled "New Normally Us and Relationships" in order to support IKU staff and students on their way to cope with the negative situations created by COVID-19. The event, where Mental Health and Diseases Specialist lecturer Dr. Arzu Erkan Yüce will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 21:00 on CATS.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Student Life, Career and graduate Advisory Unit (Kültür point) will organize a “Philosophy of Mathematics and thought Workshop” to discuss ways to achieve results without questioning by thinking about the unthinkable. The training to be given by the Information & Management Consultant Numan Aydınoğlu will be held on Friday, November 13 between 16.00-18.00 over CATS.

I was born in Sakarya in 1977. After completing my secondary and high school education at Cağaloğlu Anatolian high school, I graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of law in 2000. On January 01, 2003, I started working as a research assistant in the Department of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of our university. Currently, I am working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Commercial Law and Vice Dean since December 2011. 

In 2001, I started my master's degree at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Law, Private Law Science. At that time, my very valuable teacher Prof. Dr Merih Kemal Omağ, who was the head of the Department of Private Law at Marmara University and the head of the Department of Commercial Law, also conducted Commercial Law courses at our university. I have heard from him that there will be a research assistant hiring at the Department of Commercial Law. After that, I applied to the announced staff and took the exam. Dear teacher Prof. Dr Merih Kemal Omağ, it is good that he guided me. He has always shown me his endless support. Easier said than done, but I have been working at our university for eighteen years, and it is undoubtedly now like my home... it is a great honour and pride to be a part of this great family and my faculty, which has always been in great solidarity with each other.
