Organized in collaboration with the Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) of
Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) and Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the “Witness of 100 Years: The Republic” exhibition, met with art lovers on Wednesday, December 4, at 15:00 at the IKUSAG Exhibition Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. The opening speeches of the exhibition were delivered by the Secretary General of the Cumhuriyet Foundation, Journalist and Author Işık Kansu; our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, and the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek. The opening speeches were attended by Cumhuriyet newspaper members, academicians, students, and many art lovers.

In collaboration with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) and Cumhuriyet Newspaper, a conference titled "Witness of 100 Years: The Republic" was held on Wednesday, December 4, at 14.00, in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building. During the conference, delivered by the Secretary General of the Cumhuriyet Foundation and journalist-author Işık Kansu, the significance and details of the processes behind the events and developments that left deep traces in the 100-year memory of the Cumhuriyet newspaper were thoroughly explained.

During his presentation, Işık Kansu highlighted the achievements of the Republic, underscored the importance of Atatürk's principles and reforms, and reflected on the critical periods Türkiye has endured, offering an informative and inspiring experience for the audience. Responding to audience questions, Kansu stressed the necessity of safeguarding and advancing the values of the Republic in the modern world. At the conclusion of the event, Işık Kansu was honored with a plaque of appreciation for his participation.

World-renowned pianist Mehveş Emeç gave music lovers an unforgettable night with her recital "Romanticism on the Piano" on Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 PM in the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. Emeç took the audience on a journey through time with some of the most distinguished works of the Romantic period. The recital was celebrated as an evening that nourished the souls of romantic music lovers and received enthusiastic applause.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Education and Bahçelievler Guidance and Research Center, the "Peer Bullying in Schools" panel was held on Tuesday, November 26, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. During the event, moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Alim Kaya, panelist Assoc. Prof. Durmuş Ümmet addressed "Postmodern Approaches to Peer Bullying," while Assoc. Prof. Yavuz Samur discussed "Cyberbullying." School Psychological Counselors working in schools attended the panel as listeners.

In cooperation with the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema and IKU Cinema Club, the “Interview with Murat Şeker” event was held on Wednesday, December 3, 2024, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus. The event, which was attended by Director and Producer Murat Şeker and Screenwriter Ali Tanrıverdi as invited speakers, served as an important meeting point for students interested in cinema. The participants had the opportunity to listen to Murat Şeker and Ali Tanrıverdi's experiences in the film industry and engage in a sincere conversation about the success of the “Çakallarla Dans” series.

The event attracted great interest from students with its interactive atmosphere and surprise prizes. In the raffle held at the event, one of our students won an invitation to the premiere of the movie "Çakallarla Dans 7," while four of our students won mugs designed with the movie's poster design. At the end of the talk, which was held to contribute to the career planning processes of our students and aimed to provide them with different perspectives on the cinema industry, a commemorative plate was presented to the participants.

The event titled “AI Area Istanbul Artificial Intelligence Summit” was organized in cooperation with the Deep Learning Club, Technology Club, and Information Law Club on Wednesday, November 27, at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. In the event, which was held with the participation of experts in their fields, current issues in the field of artificial intelligence and innovation were discussed. The effects of these technologies on the business world, academia and society were also topics of discussion.

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema held a screening and talk event for the film "A Guide to Living for the Dead" at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus. Barış Fert, the director of the movie "A Guide to Living for the Dead" and Hazal Tanrıverdi, make-up artist, participated in the event as the guest speakers.

At the event, Barış Fert's first feature film "A Guide to Living for the Dead" was screened. The film was premiered at the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival and was screened at the Frontières platform organized within the Marché du Film, the film market of the Cannes Film Festival, in 2022. After the screening, Assist. Prof. Buğra Mert Alkayalar moderated the talk which touched on many topics from the pre-production preparation stage of the film to the difficulties encountered during the shooting process, from the film's festival journey to Fert and Tanrıverdi's own career development. Participants had the opportunity to get detailed information about the production process and behind the scenes of the film, and their questions about the sector were answered. The event ended with the presentation of a commemorative plate to the speakers.

The event titled “Energy Markets and Sustainability Seminar” organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was held on Thursday, November 28 in Seminar Hall 2 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. Business Development Manager Ali Hakan Everekli participated in the event as the guest speaker.

Boğaziçi University Department of Western Languages and Literatures hosted the “Undergraduate Conference of Western Languages and Literatures” themed “Extinction” on November 23,2024.

In the conference, where 33 students from 16 universities made their oral presentations, 9 of our students from the Department of English Language and Literature successfully represented our university.

In the conference, where the theme of “extinction” was examined in many areas from natural calamities to artificial intelligence, from the loss of morality to loss of languages, our 9 undergraduate students analysed the examples of “extinction” in literature and cinema, and made their presentation on various subjects such as the extinction of species, national identities, nature and humanity in 7 different sessions.

In the “Post-Colonial Literature” session of the conference, which was held simultaneously in Demir Demirgil and Özger Arnas halls, two of our third-year undergraduate students made their presentations. Ecenur Özlü presented her paper titled “‘A Dreary Night in November’: Extinction of Scottish Identity and Individualism in Liz Lochhead’s Blood and Ice” and Gülşen Yılgör presented her paper titled “The Extinction of Identity and Cultural Heritage in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe”.

In the second session of the conference, our third-year student İrem Korkmazer presented her paper titled “Examining Emotional Extinction: The Effect of the Male Gaze on Emotional Expression Through John Donne’s ‘The Flea’”. In the other session, Our fourth-year student Sude Aksoy presented her paper titled “Dissecting the Moral and Ethical Extinction in Percy B. Shelley’s ‘The Masque of Anarchy’” and our third-year student Emre Çepni presented his paper titled “Extinction of American Morality in Charles Bukowski’s Post Office”.

In the afternoon sessions, our third-year student Göksu Şimşek presented her paper titled “The Extinction of Morality in Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray: Aestheticism and the Loss of the Inner Self”, our fourth-year student Selin Kuru presented her paper titled “The Danger of the Extinction of Humanity in Shaun of the Dead”, our fourth-year student Kenan Sunal presented his paper titled “The Modern Sisyphus: Extinction of Personal Meaning and Nature” and our fourth-year student Hüma Aydın presented her paper titled “The Road to Extinction: Environmental Collapse and Extinction in Cormac McCarthy’s The Road”.

In cooperation with the Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Marketing Club, the Program of Business Management, and the Department of Foreign Trade, the event “Digital Marketing in the Automative Industry” was held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The Manager of the Sales Business Management Unit of Mercedes-Benz Automotive, Serdar Köseoğlu, participated in the event as the guest speaker. Köseoğlu explained the effects of digital marketing in the local and global automative industry and how Mercedes-Benz uses digital marketing transformation effectively.

The event was moderated by the Head of the Program of Business Management and advisor of the Marketing Club, Assist. Prof. Emine Anık and the Head of the Program of Foreign Trade Lecturer Tülay Ölmez.

The Effective Communication Club organized a seminar titled “Albinism and Secrets of Communication” to inform students about how to achieve success in business life despite the obstacles in life. In the event held on Tuesday, November 26, Manager of Communication at Turkcell, Ayşenur Sena Tarakçı, participated in the event as the guest speaker.

IKU Vocational School, the Program of E-Commerce and Marketing organized an event titled “Success in Digital Marketing: Current Trends and Tools” on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. SEO Specialist Sema Koca from Webtures participated in the event as the guest speaker and shared valuable information about new trends in digital marketing with students.

The students of the Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Debate Club participated in the Yıldız Technical University Rookies Tournament held between November 30-December 1.

Academics and students of the Department of Special Education organized a comprehensive technical trip to the Bağcılar Municipality Palace for the Disabled, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

The Department of Child Development of IKU Vocational School organised an event titled “School Outdoors” on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Özlem Kutlu, Founder of the Happy Future Workshop, attended the event as a speaker.

The Department of Special Education organized a technical trip to the Down Syndrome Association of Türkiye with the participation of academics and students on Monday, December 2, 2024. The trip, which allowed students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge in the field with practice, also provided an opportunity to observe the services and practices offered for individuals with special needs on site.

Istanbul Kültür University Logistics Club organized the event titled “Air Cargo Transportation: Different Approaches” on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Atilla Demirbilek, Project Coordinator at Kargosistem Transportation and Commerce, participated in the event as the guest speaker. The event, which was moderated by The Head of the Program of Logistics and the Advisor of the Logistics Club Assoc. Prof. Gökhan Kırbaç and Lecturer Ayşegül Kılıç, focused on innovations in air cargo transportation, sectoral challenges and strategies for the future.

The Psychology Club organized the "We Need to Talk About Kevin" film analysis event on Wednesday, November 27. Assist. Prof. Ezgi Özkan participated in the event as a speaker.

The Psychology Club organized an event titled "Introduction to Psychodrama 101: Psychodrama Workshop" on Monday, December 2, at 13:00. Psychologist & Psychodramatist Vesile Çetin Kazak was the speaker at the event, and a beginner-level psychodrama workshop was held.

The Department of Computer Engineering will organise a seminar titled "Graph Neural Networks and a Real-World Application: AnomalyNet for Business Process Anomaly Detection" to inform students about artificial intelligence applications in the business world. The event, featuring one of our graduates of the Department of Computer Engineering, Data Scientist & AI Researcher Teoman Berkay Ayaz, as the speaker, will be held on Monday, December 9th at 10:00 in Seminar Hall 2 of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Department of Nursing and the Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation (TAPV), the “Safe Relationships with Young People and Preventive Health Seminar” will be organized. The event, where Social Worker & Project Coordinator Ayşe Tek Taşlıoğlu and Nurse & Sexual Health Trainer Nurşen Kanbur will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, December 10, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faculty of Health Sciences, C Block, B1 Seminar Hall, Bahçelievler Campus.

As part of the "Fundamentals of Game Design I" course offered by the Department of Digital Game Design, the "Game Talks: UI/UX Design in Games" event will be organized to teach students the basic principles of creating user interface and user experience designs in digital games. The event, which will feature İrfan Kaya, Founder of G Boson Interactive, as the speaker, will take place on Tuesday, December 10, at 10:00 AM in Classroom 1B - 08/10 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize a “Monoprint Printing Workshop” to teach monoprint technique to students. The event, which will feature designer Deniz Körükçü as the speaker, will take place on Tuesday, December 10, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, in Classroom 1C/07-09 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Dean of Students Office Kültür Point, and the English Language Teaching Club, a “Speaking Club” event will be organized to provide students and staff who have a hard time speaking English with the opportunity to practice their speaking skills with instructors. The event will be hosted at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building, on Tuesday, December 10, at 17:00.

The "Disaster Management and Urban Sustainability" workshop, in which Istanbul Kültür University Department of Economics is a partner, will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Istanbul Kültür University Küçükçekmece Campus with the cooperation of Nature, Society and Economy Association, Istanbul Kültür University, Kırklareli University, Beykoz University, Economy Istanbul Platform and with the support of Istanbul Planning Agency.

The Industrial Engineering Club will organize the “17th Decision Support Systems” symposium to inform students about sustainability and approach this issue from an Industrial Engineering perspective. The symposium, where experts in the field of sustainability will be speakers, will be held on December 11-12 (between 10.00-14.00) in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building.

The Program of Opticianry will organize an event titled “New Trends in Eyewear” to inform students about new technological developments. The event, where Leonardo Türkiye Education Manager Tuğba Elbasan will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 12:00, at the Bakırköy Campus İncirli building.

As part of the "Building Science II" course offered by the Department of Architecture, the "Işıklar Brick Roof Application" event will be organized to provide students with practical insights into the construction stages of a roof. The training, to be conducted by Işıklar Brick Marketing Director and Master Architect Gökben Güven Özçiçek, will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at 1:00 PM in MTS IV at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Special Education will host a talk titled "Teachers of the Future: Career Journey in Special Education" to assist students in their career planning journey. The event, which will feature Special Education Specialist Sezgin Kartal as the guest speaker, will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at 2:00 PM, in Room L-01 at the Küçükçekmece Campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office and the English Language and Literature Club, a “Creative Writing Club” event will be organized for students and staff who want to improve their English writing skills through practice. The event will be hosted by the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building on Wednesday, December 11, at 17:00.

In cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University and the Zehra Yıldız Culture and Art Foundation, a memorial concert will be held for the world-famous soprano Zehra Yıldız, who passed away very early. “27 Years After Zehra” memorial concert will be hosted by the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building on Wednesday, December 11, at 19.00.

Within the scope of “Architecture Talks” organized by the Department of Architecture, Dr. Emre Gündoğdu, a member of the Architecture for All Association, will be a guest at our university. Gündoğdu's speech titled “Post-Disaster Reconstruction Plan” will be held on Thursday, December 12, between 11:00-12:30, in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building.

In collaboration with the Effective Communication Club and the Department of Communication Arts, a panel talk titled "New Generation Digital Marketing" will take place, focusing on evaluating the digitalized marketing world from the perspective of managers and providing insights into the sector. The talk, in which Creatixdigitalco Founder Mehmet Safa Yalçıntaş will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 11:00, in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall at the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the Human Resources Club and the Program of Civil Aviation Cabin Services, the “HR Interviews-I: Are You Ready for Aviation Interviews?” event will be organized to inform students about job interviews. The event, where Muhammet Ali Hazar (OD Plus), Ece Siren (Ben Psychology) and Mehmet Ali Erkuş (Ben Psychology) will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 13.00 in the 1A-01 classroom in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In order to help its members get away from exam stress, the IKU Geek Club will organise a movie viewing event on Thursday, December 12, at 16:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

The event, where Prof. Dr. Belma Tuğrul from Istanbul Aydın University will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, December 13, at 10:00 in the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall (Z-16).

The Program of Psychological Counseling and Guidance will organise a conference titled "Career Journey in PCG: From Student to Expert" to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Expert Psychological Counselor Betül Coşkun will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, December 13th, at 12:00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

The "100 Expressions of Creativity Exhibition," which will feature creative works of teacher candidates, will be organised in collaboration with the Department of Primary Education, the University at School Club, and the Child Studies Culture Club. The exhibition can be visited on Friday, December 13th, at 12:30 in the Küçükçekmece campus foyer area.

The "Compliance in Financial Technologies Workshop" will be organised by the Information and Technology Law Club to inform participants about the legal stages of the transition to financial technologies. The event, where expert lawyers will be speakers in their fields, will be held on Friday, December 13, at 13:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

The Distance Education Application and Research Center (UZEMER) will organise "Digital Working: Efficient Work Processes with Artificial Intelligence Training" on how artificial intelligence tools can be integrated into business and work processes and how they can increase efficiency. The event, where Y Innovation company's founding partners Serkan KAV and Nihat Uzunalioğlu will be the speakers, will be held on Friday, December 13, at 13:00 in the ZA-3 amphitheatre of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

A talk titled "On Love and Affection" will be organised by the Vocational School to explore the concepts of love and affection mentioned in art and songs and to understand the effects of these concepts on behaviour and psychology. The event, where Psychiatrist & Academician Prof. Dr. Mansur Beyazyürek will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, December 13th, at 15:00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point Dean of Students Office and the English Literature Society, the event “Creative Writing Club” will be organized for students and staff wo would like to improve their English writing skills through practice. The event will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 17.00 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

IKU English Language Teaching Club will organize a movie night for prospective teachers of the Faculty of Education to get to know each other better and to socialize. On Friday, December 13, at 17.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus, the movie “White Chicks” will be screened.
