Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School has invited Ahmet H. Gökşin, HAVAK Inc. General Manager and Chairman of the Board of ISKAV, on August 4, 2020 Tuesday for their webinar series titled “Job Belongs to One Who Knows. Entrepreneurship Models.” In the seminar which was about the history of air-conditioning starting from 1844, it was mentioned about the machine invented in 1902 by, W. Carrier and how it created the basics of modern air-conditioning. Also, it was mentioned about the reason of the invention’s development until present is due to air circulation and cleaning, one of the requirements of our age. In addition to that, Gökçin talked about the sector, which is still developing itself, with his experiences while mentioning the protection of the foods, creating a better-quality air, air-conditioning solutions, cooling technologies, etc. It was stated that air-conditioning sector, a still-developing sector, has earned 30 million dollars of investment between 2016-2020. Also, in the seminar, it was stated that due to COVID-19 pandemic, increasing of quality of the air has become priority, and the integration of the disinfection solutions into ventilation systems is on the surface. Stating the importance of the integration method of ultraviolet-c rays with a well-thought plan for getting rid of the viruses also stated that methods without a well-thought plan might be questionable. In the seminar, which mentioned recent developments related to the ventilation of the places where people are frequently in, such as housing, shopping malls, passenger vehicles, the importance of heating, cooling and ventilation in the construction sector and manufacturing production industry, where the air conditioning sector is heavily involved, was emphasized. It was informed that global process air conditioning and cooling systems will have an annual growth rate of 8.55% in 2024 with a market size of us $ 23.55 billion. Ahmet Gökşin stated that many industries, from paper industry to steel production, from automotive to food sector and data centres, use air conditioning and cooling systems in their production processes, and stated that the sector in the world and in our country is in a continuous growth by providing information about the added value. Ahmet Gökşin, who introduced the sectoral associations in which he played an active role to our participants, explained the importance they give to the university-industry cooperation associations, especially in ISKAV. Gökşin highlighted the importance of trained personnel in the sector, while mentioning that the air conditioning sector can be an opportunity for students. In the seminar, it was stated that it is important for graduates who want to work in the air conditioning sector to evaluate abroad options, and it was emphasized that foreign language competence maintains its importance in the sector. Ahmet Gökşin, who answered the questions of the participants at the seminar, where Lecturer Berrak Köten, Lecturer Barış Safran and Lecturer Burak Öçlü were the moderators, increased the awareness of our students by sharing his extensive experience in the air conditioning sector. |
