"Career Honorary Awards" organized by Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Career Club found their recipients. At the night attended by many celebrities, names such as Selçuk Yöntem, Zafer Ergin, Zerrin Tekindor, Demet Özdemir, Doğukan Güngör received awards.

The "Career Honorary Awards", traditionally organized by Istanbul Kültür University Career Club, found their owners at the ceremony held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. Participation in the ceremony, where all proceeds of the night were donated to DOSTEV, where young people with Down syndrome and mentally impaired people and their families work, was very high. Nearly 40 names from the sports, media, music and business worlds were deemed worthy of awards. Individuals with autism also attended the ceremony. Individuals with down syndrome and mentally impaired people came together with celebrities and sang songs to the audience.

As a tribute to the universal and inspiring struggle of women, the exhibition titled "WOMAN", created by 36 photographers accompanied by 36 Ceyhun Atuf Kansu poems, was opened on Wednesday, March 6th at 15.00 at IKU Art Gallery (IKUSAG). Organized to contribute to the power, resistance and struggle of women on the occasion of "March 8, International Women's Day", this exhibition was designed to reflect the profound impact of women in their lives and the value they add to society.

The exhibition, in which the opening speech was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek and Curator Güven Baykan, was organized in cooperation with Cumhuriyet Newspaper. Cumhuriyet Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Mine Esen and Education Editor Figen Atalay also attended the exhibition. The exhibition, which advocates for a world where women can live freely, will be open for visits until April 17th, 2024, at the IKUSAG Exhibition Hall on Istanbul Kültür University Bakırköy campus, Ataköy building

The theatre play titled "I am Rosa Luxemburg" was staged for art lovers by IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Centre (GSUAM)  on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, as a part the festivities of "8 March International Women's Day".

Polish Marxist, philosopher, anti-war activist Rosa Luxemburg's entire life's existence was brought to life on the stage by Jülide Kural in her one-woman play.  The theatre play about Rosa Luxemburg, who is trying to establish an equal world,  highlights important issues such as women's rights, social and justice.  With Jülide Kural's acting, Rosa Luxemburg's life is revealed with her breaking points, friendships, dreams, love and longings. 

The play of Rosa Luxemburg, who has written her name in the history of world revolution, was well received by the audience at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre.

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Technology Transfer Office (TTO) held the Board of Directors and Advisory Board meeting on Thursday, February 29, in order to increase the institution's technology transfer initiatives and create new strategies. As a result of the meeting, the development of innovative products and encouraging sector partnerships were re-emphasized.

At the meeting where information and technology transfer strategies of Istanbul Kültür University within the scope of university-industry cooperation were discussed; detailed evaluations were made on how İKÜ TTO can work more effectively to commercialize its research and development activities, develop new intellectual property strategies, and support innovative projects.

Members of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Kültür University who attended the meeting from different faculties and TURKCELL BİP General Manager Gökhan Yüksektepe, General Manager of Serhat Teknopark Assoc. Prof. Metin Duyar and General Coordinator of Digitalpark Teknokent Technology Transfer Office Ahmet Rıza Balım, who are on the Advisory Board of Istanbul Kültür University, discussed new university-industry cooperation models and partnership opportunities to be created, and exchanged views on technology transfer in the process of commercializing innovative ideas and inventions.

Also at the meeting; The opinions and suggestions of Istanbul Kültür University Technology Transfer Office Advisory Board were discussed in detail and new model strategy proposals to increase R&D capacity were recorded.

Türkiye Knitwear Industrialists' Association (TRİSAD) made an important visit to Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School. TRİSAD Board Member Murat Tataoğlu had talks on cooperation and education projects in the field of fashion and textile.

Vocational School Director Prof. Dr Mehmet Özer stated that such collaborations with sector representatives are of great importance in providing applied training opportunities to students and improving the quality of education. Underlining the importance, they attach to innovation and sustainability, Tataoğlu stated that the collaboration with IKU Vocational School will play a critical role in training the new generation of professionals who will contribute to the future of the sector.

Directed and written by Res. Assist. Buğra Mert Alkayalar, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, was deemed worthy of the "Best Young Director Award" at the Short to the Point Film Festival held in Romania with his short film "Station People" supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Republic of Türkiye.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) student club presidents and board of directors met with Kültür Point unit officials. 120 club presidents and managers attended the meeting held at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Monday, March 4, 2024. At the meeting opened by Kültür Point Unit Head Assist. Prof. Neslihan Fatma Er and Unit Vice President Doğa Kurtyiğit, Kültür Point Training Activities and Organization Assistant Specialist Lecturer Efe Anğın gave information to the club presidents and management about the processes. After the elucidating, a training titled "The Role of Universities in Global Development Goals" was given by Istanbul Kültür University Vice Rector Prof. Dr Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil. The meeting ended after the question-answer session and listening to the demands of the clubs.

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Vocational School management visited Turkish Airlines Flight Training Center on Monday, March 4, 2024, to follow the current developments in the aviation industry. İKÜ Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer and his assistants lecturer Gözde Kuzu Uluçay and lecturer Kerem Yücesan; Flight Operations Management Program Head Evren Yılmaz met with THY Flight Training Head Burak Bekman and Chief Dispatcher Çağatan Kazım. The visit was carried out with the aim of making their education more functional by providing students with current and applied information about the aviation industry; The importance of academic and professional collaborations was also emphasized.

Our Head of International Relations Department, Prof. Dr. Çağla Gül Yesevi, attended the "Antalya Diplomacy Forum" (ADF2024) as a guest, held between 1-3 March 2024, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and with the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. With the theme of “Putting Diplomacy Foreground in a Time of Crises”; the forum, where many issues such as peace, conflict resolution, irregular migration, xenophobia and climate change were discussed, brought together thousands of participants.

The 6th volume of the "Turkish Horror Cinema Chronology" series covering the year 2023, written by Assist. Prof. Gizem Şimşek Kaya from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, and the "Turkish Horror and Thriller Cinema in 50 Articles: Another Jinn Movie?", which they co-authored, were published. 

IKU Vocational School, on Wednesday, February 28, organized a talk titled “On Motivation with Prof. Dr Acar Baltaş” on Wednesday, February 28. Participating in the event as a speaker, Prof. Dr Acar Baltaş shared valuable information with his presentation titled "Giving Life Its Due". Prof. Dr Baltaş also drew attention to issues such as psychological resilience and developing positive attitudes.

At the end of the event, a commemorative plate was presented to our guest by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and our Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer.

Graduates of the Department of Architecture came together at the Kültür College Alumni Association Club on Sunday, March 3.  The alumni meeting evet was attended by Prof. Dr. Koray Gökhan, who served as the Head of the Department in the establishment of the Department of Architecture in 1998, Lecturer Müfide Aksoy  who has given basic design and sculpture courses for many years, Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin from the IKU Department of Architecture in particular among other faculty, Graduates of the Department of Architecture from the first and subsequent years.

Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing had its first graduates in the 2022-2023 Academic Year. 10 of our 14 graduating students made their choice based on their KPSS results and 8 of them were placed in public institutions.

Our graduates will begin their duties in Okmeydanı Cemil Taşçıoğlu City Hospital, Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul Başakşehir State Hospital, Istanbul Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital and Istanbul Çatalca İlyas Çokay State Hospital in the coming days. Digital Communication Academy, which was implemented in the 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester with the initiatives of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Student Life, Career and Alumni Advisory Unit (Kültür Point) and Department of New Media and Communication, met with its students this semester with its new school concept. The academy, which brings together sectoral practices with expert trainers and students within the scope of the "Digital Content Production School", held its first training this term on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with the academy's project coordinator and Lecturer Mert Efe Anğın organized the event titled "Team Spirit and Being a Team". The Academy will host important names of the sector for 5 weeks, prepare students for the sector with case studies and continue its activities.

Our Head of the Department of International Relations Prof. Dr. Çağla Gül Yesevi will talk about her book "Migration from Central Asia: Stories and Identity Formation" published by Routledge Publishing House on Thursday, March 14, 2024, as the guest of the American University of Central Asia Department of International and Comparative Politics

A talk titled "Road Map of a Software Developer" was organized by IKU Vocational School on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. Software Developer & Instructor Murat Yücedağ, who attended the event as a speaker, shared information about the functioning of the software industry, its future and employment opportunities in this field.

 A trip was organized to the construction site of a housing project in Bakırköy as part of the “ARC0802 Workshop II” course given by Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, from the Department of Architecture English Program, on Tuesday, March 5.  The students, who were informed by the Project Manager Master Architect Özgür Onur, in particular about the details of the foundation and basement walls and other structural details, had the opportunity to see the applications on site.

An event titled "CV Preparation and Interview Techniques Training" will be organized with the joint efforts of İKÜ Genç Office and the Ministry of Youth and Sports,  to prepare the participants for business life.  The event, in which IKU Human Resources Manager Tülay Kaya is to be the speaker, will be held on Monday, March 11, at 13.00, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

A conference titled "Hamas - Fatah Conflict: Rival Political Actors in Palestine and the Palestine Question", will be organized by the Department of International relations, in which the political conflict between Hamas and Fatah, the organizational history of both groups, their political goals and their relations with Israel will be discussed . The event, in which  Lecturer Dr. Z. Aslı Elitsoy from Istanbul Medipol University is to be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 13.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

Our dear lecturer Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan, Founding Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN), will be commemorated with an event to be held on the 12th anniversary of his death. The event, in which our lecturers Prof. Dr. Tamer Koçel and Prof. Dr. Dursun Koçer, who contributed to the establishment of MOBIGEN, will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, between 15.00-17.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature will organize a conference titled "Mehmet Akif from the Balkan Defeat to the National Anthem" in order to commemorate our National Anthem, the symbol of our independence movement. The event, in which Lecturer İsa Kocakaplan, from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, March 13th at 11:00 am at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with IKU Young Office and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, "Academic Article Writing Training" will be organized to inform the participants about academic article writing. The event, in which Res. Assist. Harun Coşkun, from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, March 13th at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Kültür Point will organize a training titled "101 in Business Life" to support the personal development of the participants. The training, which will be given by Instructor Sevim Aktulga with the title "Hello to Business Life - Trial Period", will be held on Wednesday, March 13th between 16.00-18.00 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building 1st floor multipurpose hall.

In cooperation with the Mathematics-Computer Club and Türkiye Mathematics Club, a "March 14 Mathematics Day" event will be held on Thursday, March 14th between 10.00-18.30 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Library and Documentation will organize a training to enable users to benefit more effectively from the Elsevier ClinicalKey (CK) Student Foundation Nursing database, of which we are a member. The training, which will be given by Gökhan Baykal, Sales Specialist from Gemini Information Technologies, will be held on Thursday, March 14th, between 11.00-13.00 at the Bahçelievler campus C Block B2 seminar hall.

The Digital Information and Journalism Club will organize a talk titled "Global Media and Technology Trends" to inform students about global media and technology trends. The event, in which NewsLab Türkiye Strategy Coordinator, Technologist & Author Ahmet Alphan Sabancı will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 13.00 at the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the Department of Business Administration and Kültür Point, a training titled "Management Information Systems Workshop" will be organized to inform students and manager candidates in the field of Management Information Systems. Within the scope of the "Interior Architecture Project" course offered by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, a seminar titled "Current Approaches in Store Design" will be organized to inform students about store design and increase their communication with the sector.
