Our Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu took part in the events held in Hatay on 23-24 August 2023, with the contributions of the Archaeology and Cultural Heritage and Civil Society and Collective Research working groups, within the scope of the works carried out by the Common Mind-Antakya Platform for the revitalization of Antakya and its surroundings after the earthquakes of 6 February 2023. Prof. Dr. Dostoğlu, who was invited to events as a member of the Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Working Group, attended various workshops and made field visits.

The project titled "Research on the role of the anti-obesity drug orlistat in tumor microenvironment and lipid metabolism-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transformation and apoptosis in a co-culture model created with pancreatic cancer and mature adipocyte cells", conducted by Assist. Prof. Pelin Özfiliz Kılbaş from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN) has been entitled to receive funds by “TÜSEB 2023-A4-02” callsign. We congratulate our academic and wish her continued success.

Technology Transfer Office companies and Design Factory entrepreneurs came together at the breakfast event on August 25, 2023. At the event held at the Design Factory in our Ataköy campus, ideas were exchanged between entrepreneurs and companies following the presentation of the Technology Transfer Office.

An Erasmus protocol was signed between Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Turkish Language and Literature and Azerbaijan Khazar University on 29 August 2023.

Aleyna Ekinci and Muhammed Dereci, our students of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, participated in the international congress titled "Plant Evolution in a Changing World" organized by Justus-Liebig Giessen University in Giessen-Germany between 23-26 August 2023 with two poster presentations. Our students presented their scientific studies titled "Proteomic analyzes on boron stress in soybean" and "Induction of secondary metabolite content of plant Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) through CuO nanoparticles" which they carried out together with our Dean of Faculty of Science and Letters & MOBIGEN academicians Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, Assist. Prof. Alp Ayan, Res. Assist. Sinan Meriç and Res. Assist. Tamer Gümüş in MOBIGEN laboratories.

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Deputy Director Alparslan Güzey presented the areas where IKU will contribute to potential consortiums in the field of health, within the scope of the "Horizon Europe Health Cluster National Project Market" event organized by Istanbul Project Academy on September 5, 2023.

Istanbul Summer School 2023, titled "Architectural Detail and the Search for Genius Loci in a Contemporary Sketch by Young Architects" and conducted by Piotr Karbalczyk (University of Ecology and Management in Warsaw) in collaboration with Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture and Erasmus+ Internship Consortium, has started between 06-16 September 2023. In the summer school, ten sketching workshops will be organized, three at our university and seven at selected locations.

The article of Assist. Prof. Okay Işık the from Department of Industrial Engineering, titled  “The Impact of Perceived Covid-19 Threat and Death Anxiety on Buying Behavior Among Academics: A Comparison Between Türkiye and Northern European Countries” (Algılanan COVID-19 Tehdidi ve Ölüm Anksiyetesinin Akademisyenlerde Satın Alma Davranışına Etkisi: Türkiye-Kuzey Avrupa Ülkeleri Karşılaştırması)”,  which Işık wrote in collaboration with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University faculty members, has been accepted to be published in the 3rd Sector Social Economy Journal, which is scanned in the TR index.

The full memo co-authored by Department of Industrial Engineering Vice President Assist. Prof. Duygun Fatih Demirel titled “Economic Impacts of Expected Istanbul Earthquake: Scenario Generation”, has been published in The Eurasia Proceedings of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics journal.
