The Department of Business Administration organized the “12th SMEs and Productivity Congress” this year under the theme “From Caterpillar to Butterfly” with the participation of respected speakers and participants, aiming to support the growth and branding journey of SMEs with inspirational sessions.

The event, held at full capacity on November 6 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Bakırköy Campus, began with an opening speech by Associate Professor Murat Taha Bilişik, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Congress Chairperson. Bilişik, who is also a graduate of IKU, highlighted the importance of branding. In his speech, Associate Professor Murat Taha Bilişik also drew attention to the shining value of Kültür Educational Institutions, which has completed its 64th year as an education brand, and Istanbul Kültür University, which has completed its 27th year.

The congress continued with speeches from our Rector, Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, and our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, floowed by insightful contributions from Asude Alkaylı, Vice President of the Yüzyıllık Markalar Association, and Selim Serkan Ercan, Director of KOSGEB İkitelli.

Istanbul Kültür University added a new one to its scientific projects and received approval for the project titled “Sustainable Awareness Creation and Development Study in the Context of Global Goals: The Case of Istanbul Kültür University”. This project will be carried out within the scope of our university's Scientific Research Projects (BAP) and aims to raise awareness about sustainability among students and the university community.

The project is led by our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, while the Dean of Students - Kültür Point and the Center for Sustainable Development are the project partners. The project aims to increase social awareness in the field of sustainability in line with the 17 Global Goals of the United Nations, and to raise awareness on this issue.

With the events, seminars, podcasts, workshops, and awareness campaigns to be organised within the scope of the project, it is aimed to provide the students and academic staff of Istanbul Kültür University with an innovative perspective on sustainability. With these activities, which will emphasise issues such as global warming, climate change, efficient use of natural resources, and gender equality, our university will fulfil its social responsibility and raise awareness among students.

With the contributions of all students, academic and administrative staff of Istanbul Kültür University, it is planned to take important steps towards creating a conscious society for a sustainable future.

Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER) and the Atatürkist Thought Club organized a conference titled "The Proclamation of the Republic with its Historical and Political Dimensions in Türkiye as it Enters its Second Century" on Friday, November 1 as part of October 29th Republic Day. Assoc. Prof. Eminalp Malkoç from Istanbul Technical University participated as a speaker at the event held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building.

The documentary film “Journey to Cilicia: Traces of Fejes” directed by our Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz and Zehra Yiğit, was selected as a finalist in the “Documentary Film Competition” organized within the scope of the 35th Ankara Film Festival. We congratulate our instructor and wish her continued success.

Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER) and the Atatürkist Thought Club organized a "Republic Ball" event within the scope of October 29th Republic Day. Kültür College Alumni Lodge hosted the event on Thursday, October 31st to perpetuate the tradition of the Republic Ball, which is a product of the great modernization project designed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in public and social life as our Republic entered its second century.

On October 31, Istanbul Kültür University celebrated Halloween with a festive “Halloween Party” organized in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office-Kültür Point, the Office of International Relations, DJ Academy Club, and Dance Club. In the “Halloween Party” event held in the back garden of the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus, students, with their colourful costumes and creative make-ups, filled the night with colour and excitement.

The party featured special music performances by DJ Academy Club and lively dance shows by the Dance Club, offering students a joyful, memorable experience. Reflecting our university’s cultural diversity and energy, the event brought students from different departments and countries, together fostering a sense of unity.

The part scene was decorated with Halloween-themed décor, providing the perfect backdrop for students’ unique costume and dance performances. Photos and social media posts captured the spirit of the celebration throughout the night, showcasing the excitement and camaraderie of the event.

Assist. Prof. Gülnur Işıklar, a faculty member of the Department of Communication Arts at Istanbul Kültür University's Faculty of Art and Design, and Lecturer Selen Çeliköz, Head of the Business Development Industrial and Sectoral Relations Unit, provided a "Communication" training session for the Private Office staff and employees of Turkish Airlines Headquarters. Within the scope of the training, information was provided on self-communication, mindfulness, and personal development. During the training, opinions were exchanged in the context of the continuation of cooperation between Istanbul Kültür University and Turkish Airlines.

Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz, Head of our Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, was the guest of the interview titled “Female Characters in Our Cinema and Reality” within the scope of IBB Culture “Cinema Talks for the Curious” events organized in cooperation with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Tourism & Travel Agencies Foundation. At the event, held on Saturday, November 2 at Beyoğlu Cinema, our lecturer came together with film writers, academics and moviegoers.

Dr. Birsen Can, one of the academicians of the Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Kültür University and also working at Boğaziçi Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Institute, represented Türkiye at the "EARTHQUAKES: Nucleation, Triggering, Rupture and Relationships to Aseismic Processes - 4th Edition (Cargese International Workshop on Earthquakes)" held in Cargese-Corsica (France) between October 14-18, 2024.

Dr. Can shared important information about understanding earthquakes with her presentation on determining earthquake signals in the Marmara Sea with artificial intelligence. Our professor, who attended the prestigious meeting with 90 participants from 25 different nations from 16 countries, 37% of whom were women, contributed to the world of science.

A seminar titled “Environmental Impact Assessment for Construction Projects” was given by Dr. Mihai Teopent Corcheş from the Faculty of Informatics and Engineering of Romania “1 Decembre 1918” Alba lulia University on Thursday, October 31st within the scope of ERASMUS at the Department of Civil Engineering.

A seminar titled "Genetic and Environmental Risk Factors of Breast Cancer" was organized by the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics on Thursday, October 31, 2024, as part of "Breast Cancer Awareness Month." Specialist Dr. Şeniz Kavak from the Breast Health Association (MEMEDER), who participated as a speaker at the event, made a detailed presentation on the genetic and environmental effects of breast cancer risk factors, as well as early diagnosis and treatment methods.

An introductory tea event was organized by the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling on Thursday, October 24th. In the event, which was attended by students from all grade levels, detailed information about GPC Program and IKU Guidance and Psychological Counseling Club activities were.

Within the scope of the “Forensic Psychology” course given to the 4th year students of the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, a technical trip was organized to the Ministry of Justice Istanbul Ord. Prof. Dr. Sulhi Dönmezer Training Center on Thursday, October 31st.

Prof. Dr. Birsen Tütüniş, a faculty member of the Department of Foreign Language Education, participated as a speaker at the conference titled “The GlobELT 2024 Conference” held in Konya between October 25-29, 2024, to present her study titled "EFL Teachers' Digital Competence: Use of AI in EFL Classes."

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) will commemorate the 86th anniversary of the passing of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with the ceremony that will be held in the front garden of the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building, on Sunday, November 10, at 9.05 a.m.

In collaboration with the Atatürkist Thought Club and Atatürk’s Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Centre (ATAMER), a visit to Dolmabahçe will take place on Sunday, November 10, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. as part of the “November 10 Commemoration of Atatürk” program.

The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema will host the “SETEM Film Production Workshop” to bring students together with industry professionals. Screenwriter & Producer Uğur Deniz Terzioğlu, Director Ensar Altay, and Screenwriter & Producer Orhan Koçak will be guest speakers at the event, which will be held on Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m. in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will hold a “Diabetic Friendly Recipes Workshop” to support students in expanding their vision. Specialist Dietitian Neslihan Koyunoğlu will instruct the workshop on Monday, November 11, from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. in the B1 Seminar Hall at the Bahçelievler Campus.

The Department of New Media and Communication, the New Media and Communication Club, the Department of Communication Arts, Effective Communication Club, and E-Sports Club are organizing a technical visit to Başka İşler Agency to support students in their career planning processes. The visit will take place on Tuesday, November 12.

In collaboration with the IKU Marketing Club and the Departmant of Business Administration, a talk titled “The Path to the Consumer’s Heart Passes Through the Brain: Neuromarketing” will be held to introduce students to marketing psychology and neuromarketing in the evolving marketing landscape. Neuromarketing Consultant Seda Genç will be the speaker at the event which will take place on Wednesday, November 13, at 1.00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall 1A01 at the Bakırköy Campus, İncirli building.

The Psychology Club will organize a talk titled “Violence Against Women and Forensic Psychology: The Psychological Background of Crime" to raise awareness on violence against women. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Ayhan Erbay from our Department of Psychology will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, at 13.00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students' Office and the English Language and Literature Club, a "Creative Writing Club" event will be organized for students and staff who want to improve their English writing skills through practice. The event will be hosted by the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building, on Wednesday, November 13 at 17:00.

In cooperation with the Department of Cartoon and Animation and the Department of New Media and Communication, an interview titled “Interaction Design for and with Children in the Digital World” will be organized. The event, where Assist. Prof. Gökçe Elif Baykal from Özyeğin University and PAW Production & Two Dots Communication Agency Founder Pınar Aygün will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 11:00, on the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building.

The Information and Technology Law Club will organize a panel titled "Legal Aspects of Violence Against Women" to discuss violence against women in terms of criminal law and administrative law. The event where our Faculty of Law academicians Assist. Prof. Özge Sırma Gezer and Assist. Prof. Serkan Seyhan will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, November 14th, at 11:00 at the Bahçelievler Campus.

Within the scope of “World Diabetes Day,” the Healthy Nutrition Club will organize a symposium titled "Diabetes Awareness: Be Aware, Take Precautions, Manage" to raise awareness among students. The event, where Expert Dietitian Hakim Karatoprak, Expert Dietitian Yeşim Nemutlu Torum, Physiotherapist Deren Velioğlu and Nurse Ahmet Beler will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 12:00 pm, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy Campus, Ataköy building.

A talk titled "A Step for Awareness: The Importance of Organ Donation" will be organized by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club to raise awareness among students about the importance of organ donation and current developments in this process within the scope of "Organ Donation Week." The event, where Assist. Prof. Amil Hüseynov from Medicana Hospital will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, November 14 at 17:00 in the Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The "Speaking Club" event will be organized in cooperation with the Dean of Students Office Kültür Point and the English Language Teaching Club in order to provide language practice with instructors for students and staff who have difficulty speaking English. The event will be hosted by the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus on Thursday, November 14 at 17:00.

A seminar titled "Understanding and Developing Self-Confidence" will be organized by the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Application and Research Center in order to support the personal development of students. The event, where Clinical Psychologist Mert Ali Kurban will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, November 15 at 10:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The "TOFD Seminar" will be organized in cooperation with the Interior Architecture and Design Club and the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Türkiye (TOFD) to discuss the difficulties experienced by disabled people in social life and to raise awareness among students. The event, where Semra Çetinkaya from the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Türkiye will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, November 15 at 14:00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

A talk titled "Methods of Combating Violence Against Women" will be organized in collaboration with the International Law Club and the Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation to raise awareness about violence against women. The event, where Mor Çatı Volunteer Zuhal Güreli will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, November 15 at 16:00 in the Bahçelievler campus.
