Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) commemorated the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with a program organized on the 84th anniversary of his death. The ceremony held on Thursday, November 10, at 09:05, in the front garden of Ataköy campus, was attended by our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, our Secretary General Assist. Prof. İbrahim Ethem Tarhan, our deans, academic-administrative staff and students.

The program started with the laying of a wreath by our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. In the event held in Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aynur Soydan Erdemir gave her speech titled "Intellectual Leader ATATÜRK".

Our patent titled “A Textile Product Containing Phase Change Material and Its Production Method,” numbered TR 2019 14584 B, was registered by Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. We would like to congratulate faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarier, and academician of Istanbul Technical University Prof. Dr. Emel Önder Karaoğlu, who are the inventors of the patent.

IKU Alumni and Members Association (IKÜMED) Fitness Center was opened for use on Tuesday, November 8, at our Basın Ekspres campus.  The fitness center was opened by our Secretary General, Assist. Prof. İbrahim Ethem Tarhan.  Our faculty and administrative personnel, students and graduates who want to register for the Fitness Center can visit the İKÜMED Office in the backyard of Ataköy campus.

Efe Aydemir, one of our Department of Cartoon and Animation students, won the gold medal in the "87+ kg Taekwondo" competitions of the Inter-Provincial Republic Cup held in Edirne. We congratulate our student and wish him continued success.

A seminar titled “Right After Graduation: Being an Architect” was held on Monday, November 7, between 12.30-13.30, as part of the 2022-2023 Fall Semester activities of the IKU Department of Architecture. Architect & Real Estate Developer Çağrı Kanver participated in the event held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center as the speaker.

IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and IKU Department of Turkish Language and Literature academic staff came together to discuss project ideas within the scope of national support programs. To the meeting held on Tuesday, November 8, Our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, TTO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman Hikmet Çağlar, TTO Project Development Specialist Fatma Ünal, TTO Project Assistant Specialist Esra Çelik, Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Köksal and the academicians of the department Assist. Prof. Kayhan Şahan, Assist. Prof. Emre Berkan Yeni, Assist. Prof. Çağla Barikan Topci, Res. Assist. Harun Coşkun and Res. Assist. Güler Uğur Melikoğlu attended.

 A panel talk  titled “On Urban Landscape” was held on Thursday, October 27, at 15.00, at the Design Factory at our Ataköy campus as part of the 2022-2023 Fall Semester activities of the Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture with Assoc. Prof. Deniz Aslan as the speaker.

The event, which started off at the IKU Design Factory, continued in the backyard of IKU, designed by our Faculty of Architecture students. In addition to the faculty and students of IKU Department of Architecture and Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, the panel talk was attended by Kültür College students.  The event was concluded with Assoc. Prof. Deniz Aslan's as well as our students' evaluation of the backyard design of IKU.

Istanbul Kültür University Design Factory, financially supported by Istanbul Development Agency, started its activities with a recent and entertaining theme with the workshop on “Digital Production of Content Techniques” held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. In the event where the founder of moblobi.com Burcu Aydın was a guest, the dynamics of digital platforms, how to produce effective content on social media platforms and how to become a qualified content producer were discussed.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of E-Commerce and Marketing organized a seminar titled “Social Media Communication” on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.  Rümeysa Cebeci, Digital Media Director of Manifesto Communication Agency, who participated in the event as the speaker, talked about creating a brand identity in social media, the importance of storytelling in creating a brand, visual imagery in design, and crisis management in social media.  The event was concluded after the students’ questions posed to the speaker were answered.

An event titled "3rd Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics TeaTalk" was organized by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club on Friday, November 4, 2022. In the event where Bioinformatics Expert Utku Gürs and Seray Karacay were speakers, topics such as the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence, analysis steps, and the programming languages used were explained to our students. The event ended after our students' questions were answered.

Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Department of Mental Health and Diseases Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (KLP) Nurse & Psychiatric Nursing Association Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Commission Member Specialist Nurse Arzu Aydoğdu was a guest at the “Career Development” course given at the Department of Nursing. Aydoğdu shared her knowledge and experiences about KLP nursing with our students.

Zero waste and general cleaning reminder trainings were held by Atalian Academy for the cleaning personnel working in our Ataköy and Basın Ekspres campuses on Saturday, November 5th.

The Department of  International Trade and Finance held a meeting on Monday, October 31, 2022 with the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers (UTIKAD) to discuss possible collaborations. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof.  Dr.  Müge Çetiner, The Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu, Res. Assist. Nurten Çalışkan Çetin and Lecturer Rüveyda Lokmanhekim, UTIKAD General Manager Alperen Güler and UTIKAD Secretary General Yüksel Kahraman.

IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) University-Industry Cooperation Specialist Yasin Şahin and Project Development Specialist Fatma Ünal attended the MUSIAD Expo 2022 on Friday, November 4,  with the aim of establishing university-industry cooperation.

The Department of International Trade and Finance held an event titled “Journey to the Metaverse with Devrim Danyal” on Wednesday, November 2nd.Devrim Danyal who founded The  Blockchain Metaverse Academy, participated as the speaker at the event held at the Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall, informed the students about metaverse, blockchain and NFT.

The Faculty and students of the Department of International Trade and Finance sat down together on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Basın Ekspres campus before the midterms.  In the event in which the students from other departments of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences also participated, the students had the opportunity to chat with the academicians.

IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) University-Industry Collaboration Specialist Yasin Şahin paid a visit to Turkuaz Healthcare company which operates in 128 countries.  During the visit held on Friday, November 4, Şahin met with R&D Director Hanifi Karahan Bozkurt and conversed about developing possible national-international projects focused on R&D and technology.

Specialist Nurse Ülkü Kaftancıoğlu, Hemovigilance Nurse of the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Blood Center Diagnosis, Examination, and Imaging Services Unit, was a guest at the "Career Development" course given at the Department of Nursing. Kaftancıoğlu shared her knowledge and experiences about hemovigilance nursing with our students.

Within the scope of the "International Ceramic Bathroom Kitchen Fair" held at the Istanbul Expo Centre between 7-11 November 2022, the "Bathroom Design Workshop" event was held on Tuesday, November 8, with the participation of IKU Faculty of Architecture students and lecturers, under the direction of Architect Dicle Hökenek.

In the workshop, which aims to question the ideas of what features a bathroom should have by creative thinking by young designers, the participants, who came together with the sponsorship of ECA Serel and the organization of Arkitera Architecture Center, started their work after visiting the ECA Serel stand with a guide. After the workshop, certificates of participation were presented and a group photo was taken.

Sports students of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) work hard to represent our university in the best possible way. Our students, who will participate in the competitions to be held by the University Sports Federation of Türkiye (TUSF), in the branches of basketball, volleyball, football, handball, rugby, swimming, chess, table tennis, taekwondo, muay thai, kick boxing, beach handball, beach volleyball and 3x3 basketball, continue their preparations regularly after the team selections held in October 2022.

In cooperation with the Ataturkist Thought Club (ADK) and Atatürk’s Principles and the History of the Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center (ATAMER), Anıtkabir will be visited on Saturday, November 12, within the scope of “November 10th Atatürk Memorial Events,” in order to commemorate the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in front of his grave on the 84th year of his passing.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize a training titled "Effective Communication in Business Life" under the sponsorship of Mentor Customs Consultancy in order to strengthen sectoral relations. The training, which will be given by Dr. Hakan Çınar from Mentor Customs Consultancy, will be held on Saturday, November 12, between 09.30-17.00 in the Conference Hall of Basın Ekspres Campus.

Kültür Point will organize “Turkish Sign Language Education” in order to raise awareness for the deaf and hearing impaired in the society and to contribute to the personal and professional development of our students. The training, which will be given by trainer Eser Dalyan, will be held on 14-15 November 2022 between 15.00-18.00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall.

“Front Office Training" and "Housekeeping Training" will be organized by the Program of Tourism and Hospitality Management in order to support the career planning processes of the students. The training, which will be given by Fairmont Quasar Istanbul Hotel Front Office Manager Aykut Uzunoğlu, will be hosted by Fairmont Quasar Istanbul Hotel on Monday, November 14, between 15.00-17.00.

IKU Law Club will organize a panel titled "Social Media Resolution" in order to discuss the effects of the social media resolution on our legal system. The event, where Aykırı Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Batuhan Çolak and Istanbul Bar Association Lawyer Devrim Nur Kayabalı will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, November 17, between 13.00-16.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Istanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with people of Kültür and art lovers. In the event to be organized by IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), master actress Sumru Yavrucuk will be the guest of Akıngüç Stage on Thursday, November 17 at 19.00 with the play "Shirley".

Kültür Point will organize the "Diction and Etiquette Training" in order to teach the rules of etiquette and courtesy that participants can apply in all areas of life by ensuring that they can speak Turkish effectively. The training, which will be given by Özcan Tekdemir, will be held on Friday, November 18, between 15.00-18.00, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.
