The EPD-Net Project, which will be implemented under the coordination of Eskişehir Technical University and with the support of the European Commission for a total of 1.500.000 Euros, and in which Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Archiecture, Department of Architecture faculty members Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Prof. Dr. Evrim Özkan, Prof. Dr. Evren Burak Enginöz, and Assist. Prof. Zeynep Ayşe Gökşin take part as representatives of our university, has been accepted.

This project, with 17 partners from 7 different countries, aims to create more resilient and sustainable cities and to increase the power of ecological planning and design in natural disaster management.

EPD-Net will contribute to a greener, inclusive and resilient future for Europe through the development of an innovative learning network and smart training modules.

The concert “27 Years After Zehra...”, organized to commemorate our world-famous soprano Zehra Yıldız and featuring many valuable artists, was held on Wednesday, December 11 at 19.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In the concert held in cooperation with the IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Centre and Zehra Yıldız Foundation of Culture and Arts, G. Donizetti's "L’elisir d’amore", "Aria Nemorino", "Una furtiva lagrima", F. Cilea's "L'Arlesiana", "Aria Federico", "E'la Solita storia del pastore" and W. A. Mozart’s "The Marriage of Figaro", "Aria Bartolo", "La vendetta, oh la vendetta!" pieces were performed with the piano accompaniment of Ozan Zencir.

Ceren Aydın, (Soprano), Nesrin Gönüldağ (Mezzo), Seda Kırankaya (Mezzo), Caner Akın (Tenor), Suat Arıkan (Bass), Nazlıcan Karakaş (Soprano), Berna Yücel (Soprano), Fuat Kılıç Aslan (Tenor), Sinan Turan (Tenor), Emre Parlar (Tenor), Berke Tükenmez (Bass) performed at the concert.

In this meaningful event, valuable artists and young talents came together to commemorate Zehra Yıldız in an unforgettable way. The audience gave the artists a standing ovation for a long time. At the end of the night, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, presented a commemorative plate to Tenor Süha Yıldız, spouse of Zehra Yıldız, and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Zehra Yıldız Foundation of Culture and Arts.

In cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University Dean of Students Kültür Point and Özyazıcı Special Education Vocational School, the third “Ceramic Workshop” event was held on Thursday, December 12, at the Fine Arts Application and Research Centre (GSUAM) Ceramic Studio at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

Our Dean of Students Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin also attended the event, which was organized to support the artistic talents of hearing-impaired students and increase their social participation. In the event, under the guidance of Instructor Özhan Pak, 10 hearing-impaired students had the opportunity to create different objects using a ceramic lathe.

The works made in the workshop will be delivered to the students themselves.

"Aviation Summit 5" was organized on Friday, December 6, 2024, in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School and the Aviation Club. This year's summit brought together the leading names of the aviation industry and offered the opportunity to discuss innovations and the future of the sector. The event, which was held with the academic support of Istanbul Kültür University and the organisational power of the Aviation Club, provided participants with opportunity to share information as well as establish business partnerships. The summit was an important meeting point for industry professionals, students, and young entrepreneurs.

The Program of Medical Documentation and Secretarial organized an event titled “Innovation Journey of Quality Management in the Health Sector” on Friday, December 6, 2024. Tansu Güvensoy, Quality Improvement and Development Manager at BHT Clinic Istanbul Tema Hospital, and Adem Kavalı, Digitalization and Innovation Manager, participated as speakers in the event, which focused on quality, digitalization and artificial intelligence in healthcare services. Moderated by Lecturer Emin Aksan, Head of the Program of Medical Documentation and Secretarial, the event explored topics such as quality management in the health sector, the impact of digital transformation, and the role of AI in health services. Additionally, students received valuable insights into innovative solutions aimed at enhancing efficiency and patient satisfaction in healthcare services.

The Department of Industrial Engineering organized an informative meeting for senior students who will be taking a graduation project next semester on Thursday, December 12 at Seminar Hall 2 in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. During the meeting, each advisor guided the students by introducing their respective research areas and past projects.

The students, who will start their projects next semester, will address the current problems of the companies they have contracted within the scope of industrial collaborations. They will try to produce innovative solutions to these problems using the industrial engineering methods they have learned during their four years of study.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences organized an “Alumni Panel” on Wednesday, December 11. Lerna Arzuman, Business Analysis Manager at PAYNET, Ahmet Tay, Functional Architect at Kuveyt Türk Participation Bank, Emre Beygüsü, Data Science Manager at Vodafone, Mesut Alparslan, Software Architecture Director at PozitifTech, and Begüm Tekin, IT Product Manager at ING Bank Türkiye attended the event as speakers.

During the event, our graduates shared their sector experiences and career journeys, and they answered the questions our students were curious about. In the panel where different experiences in many fields such as technology, software, data science and academic career were shared, our students gained important information about business life.

Our graduates gave advice on sectoral developments and opportunities, while also sharing their own success stories. This sincere and useful meeting was an inspiring experience for both our alumni and students.

In cooperation with the Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Civil Aviation Cabin Services and Human Resources Club held an event titled “HR Interviews-1: Are You Ready for Aviation Interviews?” on Thursday, December 12. During the event moderated by Assist. Prof. Kübra Öztürk, the guest speakers including Muhammet Ali Hazar, Ece Siren, and Mehmet Ali Erkuş informed our students about the job interview processes.

Within the scope of the “IE5403 Facilities Design and Planning” course, the Department of Industrial Engineering organized a technical trip to the Ekol Logistics Orkide Facility on Tuesday, December 10, for our students to observe the warehouse processes on site. During the trip, where detailed information on operational efficiency and warehouse design was provided, our students had the chance to reinforce their theoretical knowledge in practice and observe the sector on site.

The International Relations Unit organized an introductory meeting for students planning to apply for the Erasmus+ program on Friday, December 6, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. Miray Akaydın, Senior Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs Specialist, provided detailed information about the application process and the opportunities offered by the program. Additionally, students who had previously participated in Erasmus activities shared their experiences with the attendees and answered their questions.

Within the scope of the “Building Science II” course conducted by Prof. Dr. Esin Kasapoğlu, one of our academicians from the Department of Architecture, a roof application training was given by Işıklar company on Wednesday, December 11. Within the scope of the training held in the MTS-4 studio on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus, company representatives Betül Arda and Gökben Güven Özçiçek gave information about the properties and application details of tile roof systems.

The Leadership and Management Club organized an online event titled “How Can We Improve Ourselves on the Leadership Journey?” on Monday, December 9. At the event, where Personal Branding Expert Gökhan Başaran was the speaker, participants who wanted to increase their leadership competencies were given information to strengthen core skills such as self-awareness, communication, problem solving and team management.

The Department of Educational Sciences organized a panel titled “At the Edge of Freedom: Psychology, Education and Rights in Penal Institutions” on Friday, December 6, 2024. The panel was moderated by Specialist Dr. Nedim Havle.

The students of the Program of Tourism and Hotel Management of IKU Vocational School attended the ‘ETS Tour Career Days’ event on Wednesday, December 4. In the event, which contributed to the career planning processes of our students, various internship opportunities were also offered.

The Program of Court Office Services will organize an event titled “Tips for Working with a Senior Manager” to support students’ career planning processes. The event, where author Gülbin Göral will be the guest speaker, will be held on Monday, December 16, at 12.00 on the 6th floor CEHAMER Twin Hall of the Bahçeliveler Campus Faculty of Law.

The “Most Successful Project Awards” ceremony, which is held regularly every semester by the Department of Architecture, will be held on Monday, December 16, at 12.30 at 2nd floor C corridor at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. At the ceremony, certificates will be presented to the students whose projects were selected as the most successful ones among the student projects completed in the “Architectural Design” studio courses in the Spring Semester of the 2023-2024 Academic Year.

In cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Youth Office and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a conference titled “Teamwork and Leadership” will be organized to inform the participants about teamwork and leadership. The event, where Berna Kürekçi, CEO at Marketing Communication Consulting Agency, will be the guest speaker, will be held on Monday, December 16 at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Architecture Club will organize a talk titled “Barrier-Free Accessible Environment” in order to raise student’ awareness about “Barrier-Free Accessible” spaces. The event, where Accessibility Specialist Adem Kuyumcu from the Barrier-Free Environment Association will be the guest speaker, will be held on Monday, December 16 at 17.30 at the 4th floor multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema will organize a screening of the film “Kavur” and a talk with Fırat Özeler to support students’ career planning processes. The event, where director Fırat Özeler will be the guest speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

Over than 300 projects from more than 30 countries were submitted to the “TraMod [Tradition + Modernity in Architecture and Design]” competition, which was first organized in 2023 and will be held for the second time this year. After the evaluation by the “Grand Jury Panel” in different categories, the long list of these international awards was announced through the TraMod Academy official website. The gala night of this award and the announcement ceremony of the winners will be held under the coordination of IKU Faculty of Architecture on Tuesday, December 17 between 14.30-18.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize a technical trip to Salt Beyoğlu on Wednesday, December 18. Within the scope of the trip, the “Designer’s Note” exhibition at Salt Beyoğlu will be visited and the journey of book design in Türkiye will be shared with the students.

In cooperation with IKU Technology Transfer Office, IKU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Informatics Valley, DIGIAGE and StartGate TEKMER, an information meeting will be held about “TÜBİTAK 1812 – Invesment Based Entrepreneurship Support Program (BiGG Invesment)”. The event, where Informatics Valley Ecosystem Development Manager Ebru Genç Kerim will be the guest speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 13.00 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

As part of the “Seminar Building Science II” course offered by the Department of Architecture, the “Başak Tile” seminar will be organized to educate students about tile roof systems. In cooperation with the IKU Design Factory, the Mathematics-Computer Club, the Cartoon Animation Club, the Game Design and Development Club and the Geek Club, “ANTS JAM” event will be held in the Design Factory at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building on December 19-20. Participants, who will compete as a team, will create games based on a predetermined theme, showcasing their creativity within a 24-hour timeframe.

The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema will organise a talk titled “On Indie Short Film Making” in order to provide students with information about indie film making processes. The event, where Res. Assist.
