Our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver had a pleasant conversation with Nuran Çakmakçı, Hürriyet Newspaper Education Service Manager, about the university preferences on the new normal.

While entering our campuses, our private security personnel always use masks and PVC visors and work by maintaining social distance against each other and people who enter and leave.

Against hygienic mats viruses, our feet that are one of the most prominent carriers, are also disinfected as well as our hands.

All areas that there may be a possibility of human contact are cleaned at least twice a day with general cleaning products (Diversey Harmony product), and then these surfaces (REA RTU or equivalent) continue to be cleaned with special disinfectants throughout the day. 

Precautions and warnings regarding personal cleaning and disinfection measures continue in all campuses.

For long-term disinfection of public areas U.L.V. (Ultra Low Volume) system is used by applying Nano-technological disinfectants (Antimic or equivalent). With this system, the aerosol mist created by the extremely fine spray technique is produced, the solution that is used is divided into particles so that it stays in the air for a long time and the contact time with the surfaces is extended.

For a safer conversation environment, besides all personal protection measures, transparent barriers were put on the promotion tables, sitting groups were reduced, and visual warnings were prepared for the required distance in the catering areas.

At the meeting, where a consensus was reached on the overlap of the needs of the industry and the training programs, the contributions that the parties could provide to each other were discussed. The necessity of changing the wrong perception in our country regarding vocational education was emphasized. And the benefits of joint studies in areas such as human resources, education, R&D and innovation were evaluated. In addition to university-sector cooperation, it was stated that the connections to be built between vocational high school, undergraduate degree and graduate education in line with the needs of the industry are also important. The seeds of exciting future-oriented projects were sown at the meeting, where many issues such as internship, employment, qualified personnel and education quality were discussed. Prof. Sinan Kesici who spoke at the meeting said “We continue to focus on university-industry collaborations in our vocational school with our approach focused on employment and career in university education. Thanks to our technological infrastructure, we are fully ready to produce online content with easily accessible education for digital transformation processes that are becoming widespread in the changing new world order. Considering that wealth and prosperity in vocational education pass through technology and science, we apply a methodology that offers our students a field of application of theoretical knowledge in various sectors. We know that the 21st century business world has high expectations from today's youth, and in this direction, we adopt an educational approach that can easily integrate our students with the latest developments in the world and contribute to their personal development with various practices. With various organizations and seminars we organize, we provide our students with the opportunity to meet with representatives of different sectors, so that our students get to know the business world and exchange ideas. The Presidency Human Resources Office launched the 'Talent Gate', an internet platform, in order to contribute to the qualified employment of students and graduates. Like other universities, Istanbul Kültür University started to use this platform. The 'Talent Gate' platform, which was prepared taking into account the needs of the University Career Centers, enables young people and employers to stay in constant communication regardless of time and place.

Students and graduates will be able to take the first step into their career network by creating a profile at the 'Talent Gate' In this way, they will be able to view career fairs, events and trainings.

On the other hand, 'Talent Gate' will make it easier for employers to reach the right and fast human resources. Employers will be able to more easily announce job and internship announcements, fairs and events to young people through the network. With the different modules on the Talent Gate, students and graduates will be able to receive individual consultancy services by making an appointment with career counselors in career centers. With this application developed, the communication between the student and the employer will be continuously monitored through Career Centers and 'Talent Gate'. Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School covered the theme of "International Trade and Current Developments" in the webinar series ‘’Job Belongs to Knower of It. Entrepreneurship Models". Participating in the event as a speaker, International Trade and Finance Department Lecturer Mehmet Yavuz Kankavi touched upon the most curious issues of international trade. Lecturer Kankavi shared the developments in international trade before and after the pandemic, based on historical processes. Referring to the trade routes used since the beginning of trade, our teacher also shared new trade route projects.

He emphasized that the international trade trends that come to mind during the pre-pandemic period are generally shaped by digital developments and as a result, the concept of "Industry 4.0" developed under the leadership of Germany has emerged. It was stated that in the post-pandemic period, we witnessed the development of more contactless shopping methods and the development of payment systems at the same time. Lecturer Kankavi stated that the trade wars, which have come to the fore frequently in the recent period, are a reflection of the displacement of production places in the world for various reasons. In the current global economic environment in the sector will also be touched upon Turkey the advantage of our teacher, drew attention to the textile industry in this context.

Lecturer Mehmet Yavuz Kankavi, who shared the points that our students who are candidates to work in the sector should pay attention to in their business life, emphasized the importance of labor. It was mentioned that the students should make good use of the internship opportunities and especially the tasks given are a great opportunity for their development. It was underlined that important turning points were the candidates' ability to operate in various communities in their profession and to obtain relevant certificates. I graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Electrical and Electronics. I completed my Master's Degree in Business Administration at Istanbul Kültür University. For about 10 years I worked as an R & D Engineer in telecommunications, software and hardware. I participated in trainings and studies in technology development in Turkey and abroad in electronic power plants and new generation meters. While working in the private sector, I taught at Istanbul University Technical Sciences Vocational School Electronic Communication Technology Program as a DSU.

Istanbul Kültür University, where I have been working since 1998, has been the institution that best demonstrates what idealism means to the youth with its 60-year educational background of its founders. The institutionalized structure of the Kültür Family and the importance and support given to quality in education, technological developments, as well as cultural and artistic activities are a source of great pride for our students and us academics. It is an honour for me to work in such an institution as part of this mission.

As the Program of Air Conditioning and Cooling Technology, we have applied graduation projects for our senior students within the scope of our senate approved lesson plan, which we updated again in 2016. These projects are exhibited every year in our İncirli campus. In 2018, it was decided to exhibit our projects within the scope of research and development activities in the Ataköy campus. Our Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Master of Civil Engineer Fahamettin Akıngüç, also came to our exhibition, which featured machines developed with great devotion by my students. He tasted the ice cream produced by our ice cream machine, drank a glass of sherbet, and saw the glasses produced in our ice glass machine. “Did you really build these machines?” he asked. Our students explained how they produced the machines one by one. While I congratulate our students, I will never forget the gleam in the eyes of our Honorary President. Fahamettin Akıngüç's interest and motivation made our students and me very proud.

The COVID-19 pandemic process will radically change the outlook and expectations of all people living in the world. In this process, we had to learn the social life in accordance with hygiene rules and distant. I believe that the world we live in will not be a world like before the pandemic. Thanks to the technological infrastructure it established years ago, Istanbul Kultur University became one of the first universities to succeed in transitioning to distance education as soon as the pandemic started. We conducted our spring term lessons, final, make-up exams and summer school lessons with distance education. I would like to express my gratitude to the top management, academic and administrative staff who provided us with the technological infrastructure and their support in this regard.

Per program among vocational schools in terms of the number of private universities in Turkey live classroom course is committed to IKU Vocational School took part in the first row. This situation was reflected in our students as a successful result in the student satisfaction survey conducted by our university. We have successfully completed this process thanks to the motivating support and contribution of our Vocational School Manager Asst. Prof. Sinan Kesici.

In the normalization process, we are aware of how important it is to comply with healthy living rules while combating COVID-19. For this, we have to continue our lives in accordance with the mask, distance and hygiene rules. Therefore, we revised our lesson plans so that 40% of our education would be distant and 60% formal. It can be seen that distance education will maintain its importance during and after the epidemic. In fact, digital transformation in education will accelerate. In distance education, the importance of course content quality and mutual interaction with students will increase. Measurement and evaluation criteria to be developed for these will become important. Developments in software, artificial intelligence applications, autonomous systems and sectoral collaborations will make significant contributions to distance education.
