The Founding Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN), our esteemed teacher Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan was commemorated with the event held on the 12th year of his passing away. The event, which was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, was attended by two of the previous rectors of our university, Member of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr Tamer Koçel and Prof. Dr Dursun Koçer, Head of the Department of Physics, with their speeches titled "An Organization Story: Molecular Biology and Genetics". 

At the event, to which our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Rector Prof. Dr Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Vice Rector Prof. Dr Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and Prof. Dr Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, our Board of Trustees Advisor Özkan Gül, our Secretary General Ender Rıza Ekici, our Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr Ömür Ceylan, our Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science and Literature & one of the faculty members of the Department of Physics, Assist. Prof. Ayşegül Fulya Yelkenci, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr Mehmet Üstünipek, one of the faculty members of the Department of Business Administration, Prof. Dr Mahmut Paksoy, our Vocational School Director & Department of Physics faculty member Prof. Dr Mehmet Özer, one of our Industrial Engineering Department academicians, Assist. Prof. İbrahim Ethem Tarhan, Head of the Department of Construction and Technical Mehmet Yücesan, İKÜMED Alumni Relations Manager Ali Kaplanoğlu and Prof. Dr Atilla Özalpan's family and friends, MOBIGEN academic staff and students attended, the contributions of our teacher Prof. Dr Atilla Özalpan in the establishment of MOBIGEN, which started education in 2007, his memories with his students and friends were shared with photographs.

In cooperation with the Mathematics-Computer Club and the Turkish Mathematics Club, a "Mathematics Day" event was organized in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus on Thursday, March 14. The event, which is held every year on March 14 to celebrate "World Mathematics Day" and keep mathematics significant, was hosted by Istanbul Kültür University this year.

"Mathematics Day" started with the opening speeches of our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and club presidents at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. Head of Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences Prof. Dr. Mert Çağlar made his speech on the theme of "Play with Mathematics".

Next; Prof. Dr. Tınaz Ekim from Boğaziçi University "Graph Theory with Games", Soner Sezgin from Istanbul University "Theory of Everything: Probability", Assist. Prof. Özer Öztürk from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University "Mathematics, Creativity and Game", Mathematics Teacher Vural Aksunkur "Mathematics History and Development" made their speeches.

Additionally, a panel talk was held under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Emre Ev Çimen from Eskişehir Osmangazi University with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Serkan Özel from Boğaziçi University, Elif Bahadır from Yıldız Technical University and Res. Assist. Dr. Emine Gülen Ulusoy from Marmara University. Within the scope of "Mathematics Day", Various sponsors' stands were opened on the B1 floor of the Ataköy building and entertaining events were held. An origami and cryptology corner was set up in the backyard and various workshops were held.

The Department of International Trade and Finance hosted Instructor Ali Mert Karaköy, Founder of Karaköy Training and Consultancy Firm, at the "Gender Workshop" event organized as part of the "March 8 International Women's Day" activities.

The workshop was held on Thursday, March 7 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu, Head of our Department of International Trade and Finance, and Prof. Dr. Işıl Baş, Head of IKU Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD). In the workshop organized for the students of our university, topics including inequalities based on gender roles and their possible solutions were discussed under the facilitation of instructor Ali Mert Karaköy.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (Vocational School) Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer and his assistants came together with working employees on March 8, International Women's Day, hosted by AKPAZ. In the meeting, held in a friendly atmosphere, the roles of women in society were highlighted and the value of women's labor was emphasized.

A panel talk titled "Being a Woman in Today's Türkiye" was organised by Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) as a part of "8 March International Women's Day" events, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The event, in which İKÜ Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver and İKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe made the opening speeches, was also attended by Republican People's Party Bakırköy Mayor Candidate Dr. Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu. After the opening speeches, a panel talk was held in which former Minister of State of the Republic of Türkiye Önay Alpago and Deputy Chairperson of the Democratic Party İlay Aksoy were the speakers.

The "Best Project Awards", which has become a tradition in the Department of Architecture, were announced at the exhibition held on Thursday, March 14 at 12.30. The jury consists of faculty members of the Department of Architecture; In Turkish and English programs, "Architectural Design" courses in the 2022-2023 Spring Semester and 2023-2024 Fall Semester selected the best project of each group among the projects completed in the project groups. Certificates were presented to the owners of the most successful projects selected by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, and the Head of the Department of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Esra Bostancıoğlu.

The Department of International Trade and Finance organized an event titled "Why Export?" at the conference room of Küçükçekmece campus on Tuesday, February 27. Attending the event as a speaker, Hasan Korkmaz, Export Team Leader from Mentor Customs Consultancy, shared his experiences in the sector with our students.

Mustafa Balkuv, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Turkish Knitwear Industrialists Association (TRISAD) and Murat Tataoğlu, Board Member, visited Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School on Friday, March 8, 2024.

TRISAD representatives met with IKU Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer, Lecturer Kerem Yücesan and Lecturer Gözde Kuzu Uluçay, Program of Fashion Design Head Lecturer Neslihan Tokat Ozan and Program of Graphic Design Head Assist. Prof. Emin Sansarcı and exchanged views on increasing internship opportunities and developing innovative educational content such as "Branding Course."

In addition, it was shared that work has started to establish a fully equipped knitwear workshop in the Program of Fashion Design in order for students to gain sectoral experience. This collaboration aims to make a practical contribution to students' education and strengthen their ties with the industry.

Screenwriter & Producer Selim Erkul, who took part in the script development and production teams of popular digital platform series such as Knot (2024), Innocent (2017), Owned (2017) and Immortals (2018), met with our Department of Radio, Television and Cinema students in the "Scenario-Production Process Relationship" workshop organized within the scope of the "Script Writing Techniques II" course. The workshop was held in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, under the moderation of Our Head of Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Assoc. Dr Perihan Taş Öz. Within the scope of the workshop, Erkul transferred the scenario design dynamics in the series and films, idea selection-development stages and production processes to our students within the framework of their expertise.

Istanbul Kültür University sports teams were very active in the TÜSF Interuniversity Regional 1st League competitions.

IKÜ Women's Volleyball Team, defeated Istanbul University 3-2 on March 4, 2024, and also scored 3-1 against Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa on March 12.

IKÜ Men's Basketball Team, going against Istanbul Gelişim University on March 6, 2024, won, scoring 74-70 and achieving a satisfactory result for the play-off competitions.

IKÜ Men's Volleyball Team lost 3-0 to Istanbul Technical University on March 11, 2024.

A technical visit event to EFE Cam Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş.  was organized by the Department of Economics on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  EFE Cam, a leading brand within sector with its 32 years of experience, not only does it meet domestic demand by producing lighting and glassware products but also exports their goods abroad.  During the trip, in which the students had the chance to observe the various stages of production involving different techniques, the showroom where the company's products were displayed was also visited.  At the end of the trip, the issue of what kind of qualities and qualifications students wanting to work in this field should have was discussed.

Our Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu, our academician Assist. Prof. Ayşegül Ketenci and our students attended the "Meeting on Internship and Employment in the Logistics Sector" hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, March 6.

IKU Vision Club organized a panel titled "Digital Transformation Summit" on Friday, March 8 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. In the event; developments in finance, fintech and technology were discussed.

The book chapters written by the faculty members and the students of İKÜ Department of Industrial Engineering have been published as a part of the book titled "Industrial Engineering in the Industry 4.0 Era" by Springer Publishing House.

“I am Müge Özgenel.  When I was 7 years old, I started my education at Kültür College, to where my family faithfully entrusted me. And I graduated from IKU Civil Engineering Department (English) in 2009.  Thanks to the emphasis put on English in education given by Kültür College, I was selected for a special class for the International Baccalaureate Organization in high school. And I completed high school with a double diploma.  Thanks to my IBO diploma, I got accepted into the Department of Civil Engineering English Program at Istanbul Kültür University with a 50% scholarship.

I graduated from IKU Civil Engineering Department in 2009 and then went ahead and got enrolled in Istanbul Technical University Department of Transportation Engineering.  I have worked at BOTEK engineering for 8 years, which I started while still studying at ITU, and at SIGMA engineering for 1 year. I have worked as an Experienced Business Development Engineer at Tekfen Engineering, starting in January 2020, for 4 years.  As of 2024, I have been appointed the Business Development Group Leader.  As an Internal Trainer within Tekfen Holding, I provide Meditation, Mindfulness and Breathing Techniques training to the employees.  When talking about the Istanbul Kültür University and Kültür Family,  the first thing that comes to my mind is the making good education always a priority and central, so that we can reach the places our hearts desire with our efforts.

Besides the professional ethics and a good command of English, IKU instilled in me the culture of life that taught me to nourish my soul with art in addition to being a successful engineer.  Now that you are an IKU student, I hope your university life will prove to be the best beginning to your career”

The Department of International Relations will organize a trip to the Istanbul Regional Directorate of TR Presidential Communications Department on Monday, March 18th.

The Department of Communication and Design, the Department of Art and Culture Management and the Women and Social Research Unit (IKU-KAD) will organize a trip to Sakıp Sabancı Museum on Tuesday, March 19 to introduce the exhibition "Melek Celal: A Forgotten Woman of the Republic."

A conference titled "Women's Health and Hygiene (Endometriosis Awareness)" will be organized by Program of Opticianry to inform students about women's health and hygiene. The event, where Op. Dr Salih Yılmaz from Altunizade Acıbadem Hospital will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 11:00 in the classroom number 4A-01 in the İncirli building of Bakırköy campus.

The Psychology Club will organize a conference titled "Becoming a Sports Psychologist" to inform students about sports psychology. The event, where Clinical Psychologist Yeşim Canlı will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, March 19 between 12.00-17.00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

"Alumni Panel" will be organized by the Department of Economics in order to enable our graduates to transfer their experiences to our students. The event, where Ertan Kahraman and Aleyna Efe, one of our graduates, will be the speakers, will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 in the conference hall of Küçükçekmece campus.

Kültür Point will organize a training titled "Business 101" in order to support the personal development of the participants. The training, which will be given by Trainer Sevim Aktulga under the title "Being an Employee of an Organization", will be held on Wednesday, March 20, between 16.00-18.00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 1st floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will organize a talk titled "Physical Planning in Touristic Enterprises" in order to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Clarion Hotel Mahmutbey Owner Fikret Şerafettinoğlu will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, March 21, between 13.00-15.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

A talk titled "Airborne Conversations - Kuwait's First Female Captain Pilot" will be organized by the Flight Operations Management Program in order to support the professional development of our students. The event, where Jazeera Airlines Captain Pilot Elif Güveyler, our first Turkish female pilot in Kuwait, will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, March 21st at 15.00 in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

In order to motivate the members, the Geek Club will organize a "Harry Potter Day" event on Friday, March 22, between 11.00-18.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.
