World-famous composer and pianist Fazıl Say was the guest of Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Thursday, February 15, at 19.00.

In this special concert organized by the Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), Fazıl Say played many important pieces to the audience, including the piece called "Yürüyen Köşk", which he composed in memory of Atatürk and tells about his love for nature. Finally, Say included his work of the same name, composed from the poem "Kara Toprak" by the folk poet Aşık Veysel.

Following the concert, which ended with him receiving applause, flowers were presented to Fazıl Say by Ful Akıngüç, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Kültür Educational Institutions.

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Vocational School administration officials had a meeting with TÜYAP Fair Organization Group on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, so as to enhance university and industry cooperation. IKU Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer and the assistants Lecturer Gözde Kuzu Uluçay and Lecturer Kerem Yücesan sat down with TÜYAP Deputy General Manager Arzu Saraç and discussed furthering internship opportunities and developing innovative educational content such as "brand course".

The meeting revolved around issues such as informing students about current practices in the sector and making it easier for them to go into the business world. With that, students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in one of the leading companies of the sector which is TÜYAP. Furthermore, students will have access to comprehensive information about the fair industry through the newly created brand course.

With this collaboration, students will have the chance to put their theoretical knowledge to practice. At the same time, this cooperation will play a crucial role in bringing high-skilled workers into the business world.

Within the scope of the EKUAL (Electronic Resources National Academic License) Project supported by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, the access agreement of Springer Nature's electronic journals has been transformed into the "Read & Publish" model starting from the 2024-2026 period.

Institutions within the scope of EKUAL service are participants of the Transformation Agreement. With the criterias determined by EKUAL, the opportunity to publish open access articles in Springer Hybrid journals for the period 2024-2026 will be provided.

With this agreement, responsible authors affiliated with our institution will have the right to publish their articles open access and their fees will be covered by TÜBİTAK. The agreement has begun in January 1,2024. Authors' applications will be evaluated as of this date.

The publication of the responsible author whose article is accepted in the said journals will be placed in the order of arrival of the publication, if the author wishes. Articles that meet the criteria determined by TÜBİTAK within the country publication quota determined during the year will be approved in the system after evaluations.

Considering the number of open access articles read and cited worldwide, each article published by your researchers in this context will positively affect the academic performance of your institution.

What Writers Need to Know:

- The researcher must be the corresponding author of the article.
- Article types covered by the agreement: Original Paper, Review Paper, Continuing Education.
- After the article is accepted for publication, researchers must introduce themselves to the system during the author identification process. The "Contribution to Social Transformation" training was organized on Wednesday, January 31st in cooperation with the Department of International Trade and Finance, Yanındayız Association and Kurtsan.

The training, which lasted 2 hours and was given by Trainer Ali Mert Karaköy within the scope of the "Contribution to Social Transformation Project" of the Yanındayız Association, which set out with the motto "We want to make the world a common living space where we live together on equal terms and opportunities", was open to all Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

"Systematic Compilations and Meta-Analysis Workshop" was held by Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr Şerife Yücesoy Özkan for our Faculty of Education lecturers on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Representatives of Karabük Women Entrepreneurs Association (KAGIDER) visited IKU Faculty of Health Sciences. KAGIDER President Zuhal Tabak, Vice Presidents Mürvet Yaşar and Hanife Dursun, Health Committee Chairperson Satı Birbudak and Ülkü Verenyurt took part in the meeting held in the dean's office with Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Asiye Gül, who is from Karabük. During the meeting, the activities that can be carried out in cooperation between the association and the university for Karabük were discussed.

Our Head of Department of International Relations Prof. Dr. Çağla Gül Yesevi's program titled "What is the new roadmap of Kazakhstan, the critical country of the Turkic world?" was broadcast on the GZT Youtube channel in five languages including Turkish, Arabic, English, French and Russian.

 Applications to the "Obstacle-Free Access Equipment Design" training program, to be held between 15.04.2024 and 18.04.2024 as a part of the TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Education Activities Support Program, have been made available.

A conference titled "Being a Therapist with a Existential Inclination" will be held with the joint efforts of the Psychology Club and the Department of Psychology, to inform students about existential therapy.  The event, in which Clinical Psychologist Ersin Bayramkaya is to be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, February 21, at 12.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Architecture will organise a panel titled "Building Tomorrow: Climate-Adaptive Architecture" within the scope of the "Graduation Project" course. The event, where Prof. Dr Ayşen Ciravoğlu and Assist. Prof. Deniz Erdem Okumuş from Yıldız Technical University will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, February 21 at 14.30 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building ground floor seminar hall 2.

An event titled “Spring Term Motivation Get Together" will be organized by The IKU Vocational School to motivate students as the 2023-2024 Spring Term is to start.  The event, in which the Rock'n Culture club will also take the stage for a musical performance , will be held on Thursday, February 22, between 10.00-17.00 in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.
