Istanbul Kültür University had a spring semester full of sports in April and May. We would like to thank all our students who successfully represented Istanbul Kültür University for their efforts and their support for the creation of a sports culture in our university.

Our Men's Volleyball Team, which participated in the 2022-2023 Academic Year "TÜSF Interuniversity Regional 2nd League Volleyball Competitions" in Istanbul, succeeded in qualifying for the finals by winning all its matches in the group. Our students, who successfully passed the quarterfinals and semi-finals, lost the game 3-2 in the finals. Our team, which came 2nd in the tournament, won the right to participate in the TÜSF Volleyball 1st League competitions in the next academic year with this success.

IKU Men's Basketball Team, which participated in the 2022-2023 Academic Year "TUSF Regional 2nd Division Basketball Competitions" in Istanbul, won all the other matches and managed to enter the final group despite starting the league with a defeat.  The students, who also was triumphant in the quarter-final competition, could not prevent a last-second basket in the semi-finals and left the match defeated.  The team, which came 4th in the tournament, qualified to participate in the TÜSF Basketball 1st League competitions in the next academic year.

IKU Rugby Team participated in the "Unilig Türkiye Rugby Championship" in Ankara in the 2022-2023 Academic Year TÜSF Activity Program, coming in the 2nd place in the final group.  The team left the tournament after being defeated in the quarter-finals.  The team, who got into the quarter-finals, will compete in the Unilig Rugby Türkiye Championship in the next academic year.

Our Women's Volleyball Team, which participated in the 2022-2023 Academic Year "TÜSF Interuniversity Regional 1st League Volleyball Competitions" in Istanbul, finished first in the groups with one defeat and qualified for the final group. Our students lost the tough quarterfinal match 3-2 and bid farewell to the tournament. With this result, our team will continue the TÜSF Volleyball 1st League competitions in the next academic year.

Our Kick-Boxing athlete Ömer Faruk Koç, who participated in the "Kick-Boxing Türkiye Championship" in the 2022-2023 Academic Year TUSF Activity Program in Tokat between 8-11 May 2023, won the bronze medal coming in the third place in all of Türkiye in the competitions.

Our Football Team participated in the 2022-2023 Academic Year "TUSF Regional 2nd League Football Competitions" in Istanbul, however could not qualify for the finals because they finished second in the groups in which they had only one defeat. With this result, our students will continue to compete in the TUSF Football 2nd League in the next academic year.

The consortium named BOOSTalent, with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Deputy Director Alparslan Güzey acting as the project partner leader, was granted monetary aid.

EIT announced 16 consortia that were eligible to receive monetary aid as a part of third call of the HEI Initiative.  Istanbul Kültür University was the only institution from our country to take part in consortia.

The consortium named BOOSTalent, with Alparslan Güzey, Deputy Director of Istanbul Kültür University Technology Transfer Office acting as the project partner leader, was entitled to receive monetary aid. As a part of the project, Deep-Tech Hub will be established at IKU, AI/ML aviation training will be offered, mentoring will be given and competitions will be held.  We congratulate Alparslan Güzey for his success.

Research Assistant Yıldız Dirdiri, who was granted the chance to have their doctorate study in Germany with the aid of DAAD scholarship, from the Faculty of Law attended the summer reception held in the garden of the German Consulate General on Monday, June 12, 2023 for DAAD Türkiye graduates and scholarship recipients after a four-year hiatus. In the event in which DAAD lecturer Dr. Akif Hilal Öztürk participated, certificates were presented to the new scholarship recipients.

Head of Department of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Serdar Erkan delivered a speech titled "Kültür and Psychological Counselling Services" as part of the "Career Day" event organized by the Faculty of Educational Sciences of Final International University on June 9, 2023.

Assoc. Prof. Nurhan Yel, a faculty member of the Department of New Media and Communication, participated in the "Mysteries of Social Media" episode of the documentary series "Hidden behind Anonymity Cyber ​​War" as an academic guest. The program, in which Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhan Yel evaluated social media, political manipulation and fake news, will be broadcast in the autumn of TRT Documentary.

The latest works of Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan, one of the important representatives of contemporary painting art, award-winning artist & Head of our Department of Art and Cultural Management, titled "Reflection Series" were exhibited in two different galleries at the "Third ARTCONTACT ISTANBUL International Contemporary Art Fair" held on June 3-4, 2023, at Yenikapı Dr. Mimar Kadir Topbaş Performance and Art Center, in which she took part as a guest artist.

The projects carried out by the students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema within the scope of the 2022-2023 Academic Year "Graduation Project" course were evaluated on CATS on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

The evaluation meeting was held with the participation of the graduation project jury members Assoc. Dr. Perihan Taş Öz, Assoc. Dr. Bilgehan Ece Şakrak, Assist. Prof. İbrahim Zengin and Assist. Prof. Ayşe Duygu Atasoy Aktaş, who were the advisors of the students. A total of seventeen projects, including seven fiction short films, one documentary film, two feature film scripts, one series film script and six thesis studies, were evaluated at the presentation. 

Project presentations, which started with the screening of student films, ended with the defense of films, scripts and thesis works.

The article titled “A SYSTEM DYNAMICS MODEL FOR MARINE POLLUTION IN THE MARMARA SEA” among whose authors is the Deputy Head of IKU Department of Industrial Engineering Assist. Prof. Duygun Fatih Demirel, has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology (IJASEAT).

We continue our "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Commercial Pilot" trainings at our Vocational School without any interruptions. Our university, which can provide education all over Türkiye with the authorization given by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, continues its training in Muğla due to intense interest.

An event called "CREATHON" with the theme of "Sustainability" will be held in cooperation with the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and the Design Factory. 14 teams consisting of students from inside and outside of our university will try to solve the given problem for 2 days and 1 night. The event will be held at the Design Factory in our Ataköy campus on 18-19 June.

The "4th Alumni Relations Workshop" with the theme of "Youth Employment, Strong Alumni Relations and Sustainable Relationship" will be held in cooperation with Kültür Point and Design Factory, in partnership with U2C (University to Career). The event, in which experts in their fields will be speakers, will be held on Friday, June 23, between 09.00-18.00, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall and Design Factory in our Ataköy campus.
