ONE OF US

Undoubtedly, it is an important virtue to recognize people around them. So how well do we know the building blocks of the Kültür Family? We devoted this part of our agenda to our colleagues who have worked hard to move Istanbul Kültür University one step further.

Funda Uluöz - Directorate of Financial and Administrative Affairs

I was born on December 28, 1969 in İstanbul. I graduated from Fatih Ticaret HighSchool. I am a mother of 1 son. I have been working in various institutions in the field of accounting that is my father’s profession since I was 18 years old. I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Özkan Gül in one of these institutions. As a result of my interview with Özkan Gül, Head of Directorate of Financial and Administrative Affairs of the period, I started to work at Istanbul Kültür University in April 2004. I have been working as Accounting Specialist in the Directorate of Financial and Administrative Affairs for 16 years.

There are lots of things that IKU contributed not only to its students but also to its employees. Prestige, self-confidence, modernity, perspective, mentality, universality, sociability, modernity and courage…

With the support of my managers, I visited another university abroad within the scope of Erasmus Program and this increased my courage. With these values added to me, I who am afraid to change the neighborhood before, has now dared to see and know the countries of the world. With the self-confidence I gained from my institution, I had the opportunity to visit many countries and cities.

Thanks to another opportunity that our university provides its' employees, my son graduated from IKU Faculty of Law, and now he is continuing his career as a successful lawyer. It is a great pride and honor for me and also for my entire family…

In my third year at IKU, "10th Year Foundation Celebrations" were held Atatürk Cultural Center. During the celebration, which was held with great enthusiasm, I looked at my friends with envy and care while a plaque of appreciation being given to the staff who completed their 10th year. "I wonder whether will I be like them" I thought. Now I look and see that 16 years has passed with the same excitement and enthusiasm just like the first day.

The only word to describe Istanbul Kültür University, of which I am proud to be a member, would be "courage"

Ord. Prof. Dr. Sulhi Dönmezer Virtual Trial Competition

‘’Ord. Prof. Dr. Sulhi Dönmezer Virtual Trial Competition’’ was held on 18 December 2019 with the participation of students of the Faculty of Law in cooperation with İstanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law and Criminal Law Application and Research Center (CEHAMER). The jury member which is consists of Judge Atilla Tanrıvermiş, Assist. Prof. Yasemin Filiz Saygılar Kırıt and Assist. Prof. Efser Erden Tütüncü presented their prizes to the teams that ranked in the competition.

The teams that won awards in the competition;

Yaren Yüksek, Ayşem Deniz Karagöz, İrem Yılmaz, Zeynel Arıkcı, Çağatay Kısa (The winner of the first prize of 1000 TL)

Umut Anıl Kanbay, Damla Kızıltan, Selin Demiral, Mahir Mersin, Kubilay Çelik (The team that won the second prize of 500 TL)

Onurcan Yağcı, Necla Aleyna Bilgin, Gürkan Günaçtı, Enes Talha Çetinkaya, Ömer Araydın (The team that won the third prize of book)

Ömür Kınay took part as a jury member in the " 1st 'Umursuyorum' Short Animation Competition"

Ömür Kınay, our instructor from the Department of Communication Design, took part as a jury member in the " 1st 'Umursuyorum' Short Animation Competition" that was organized by Bahçeşehir University Department of Cartoon and Animation. In the results of the competition that Prof. Dr. Nazlı Eda Noyan (BAÜ Department Head of Cartoon and Animation), Ramazan Baş (TOFD General Head), Ayşe Ünal (Director), Harun Can (Voice Actor), Metin Akdülger (Actor), Ömür Kınay (Director), Varol Yaşaroğlu (Creator of Kral Şakir), and Yavuz Sultan Selim (Animation and Post Production) held together, the awards were presented to the winners for the original content, quality of the message, the creativity of the fictions and the integrity of the story were really good.

Ahmet Bikiç Was On The Selective Board Of The Photography Competition Titled ‘Kaybolan Vakıf Eserleri’

Ahmet Bikic, one of the faculty members of the Department of Communication Design & consultant of The Photography Club, was on the Selection Board of the photography contest organized in cooperation with the foundation Participation Bank and the Association of artisans and artisans (ESDER). The gala held on January 8th Beşiktaş on Wednesday at the historic Hüsrev Kethüda Bath. Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Assoc. Dr Seyhun Sahin presented Ahmet Bikic a plaque as a thanks.

Building management and Construction Site Management Interview

Thursday, December 12, the Program of Construction Technology organized an interview titled “Building Management and Construction Site Management”, in which Osman Özcan, Chief of Iga Airports Çatı Cephe Çelik Higher Civil Engineer, was the speaker.

Housekeeping Management Education

Housekeeping Management Education was organized for IKU Vocational School of Tourism and Hotel Management Program students. In the education given by Sofitel Taksim Istanbul Housekeeping Manager Aynil Aydoğan, detailed room cleaning in hotels, the use of vehicles in the general area and the types of cleaning on a daily, weekly and monthly basis were explained to our students in detail

Students of Tourism and Hotel Management Attended Uzakrota 2019 Travel Summit

IKU Students of Vocational School of Tourism and Hotel Management Program attanded "Uzakrota 2019 Travel Summit" that was held at Hilton Bosphorus Hotel. At the summit that many leading local and foreign names of the sector attended, our students had the opportunity to both listen to conferences on topics such as digitalization processes in tourism, new trends and the future of tourism sector and meet with speakers

Tourism and Hotel Management Program Continues to Sectoral Collaborations

IKU Vocational School Tourism and Hotel Management Program and Sofitel Taksim Istanbul signed a sectoral cooperation agreement. Within the scope of the signed protocol, internship, seminar, full-time job and various training opportunities will be offered to the students of Tourism and Hotel Management Program.

"Digitalization Process in Tourism" Interview

IKU Vocational School Tourism and Hotel Management Program and Digital Media and Marketing Program brought together the leading names of the sector and organized an interview titled "Digitalization Process in Tourism ”. We would like to thank all of our guests who participated in the interview that was carried out with the moderation of Serkan Gümrükçü, Head of the Board of Directors of Professional Hotel Managers Association.

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Young People from PKU are in the Kitchen

In cooperation with the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and PKU Family Association, an event titled “Young People from PKU are in the kitchen” will be held. Saturday, January 18, between 10.00-16.00 hours the nutrition and dietetics department food preparation laboratory will be held in the event where adolescent phenylketonuria (PKU) patients receiving lifelong medical nutrition therapy will be informed about nutrition therapy and their skills will be increased in the kitchen environment.

Teaching Vocabulary

The Department of Foreign Languages will organize a training titled “Teaching Vocabulary” in order to diversify the educational activities in the English Preparatory Class. Trainer Teresa Doğuelli will give the training to our lecturers on Wednesday, January 22nd between 14.00-15.00 in Şirinevler Campus C Block B1 Hall.
