Istanbul Kültür University Family Business and Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center (AGMER) organized the “10th Family Business Congress” on 15-16 May 2024 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The opening speeches of the congress were made by Prof. Dr. Mahmut Paksoy, our President of AGMER, Prof. Dr. Fadime Yüksektepe, our Rector, and Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly. 

A talk was held by IKU Kültür Point with the Academic & Inspiring Woman Dr Dilek İmamoğlu, who stands out on social responsibility and women's studies in business life, on social benefit. The event moderated by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, was hosted by Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Tuesday, May 14, at 14.00.

At the event, academia, glass ceiling syndrome, non-governmental volunteering and efforts to support girls and young women were discussed. Emphasizing that various projects have been implemented to support young people by attaching importance to their vision and dreams, Dr. Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu focused on the "Enlarge Your Dreams" project, which is especially aimed at strengthening the place of women in business life. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to reveal and strengthen the potential of girls and young women by providing education, support and mentoring opportunities.

Dr. Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu's efforts to strengthen the roles of young people and especially women in society were met with great interest and appreciation by the participants.

Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu was given a memorial plate as a gift by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gülçe Öğrüç Ildız and Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil at the end of the event.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, our Advisor to the Board of Trustees Özkan Gül and Head of the Department of Building Operation Mehmet Yücesan visited Bahçelievler Mayor Dr. Hakan Bahadır in his office.

Istanbul Kültür University Turkish Sign Language Choir made the audience experience an unforgettable night with the concert held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre on Friday, May 10.  This special event, which blended music and sign language, gave the audience not only emotional moments but also a visual feast.

All proceeds from the concert were donated to the Türkiye Spinal Cord Paralytics Association (TOFD), thereby turning it into a meaningful social responsibility project.  This exemplary gesture of the IKU Sign Language Choir was applauded both by the university community and the audiences.

During the concert, the choir sang popular songs using sign language, enabling hearing-impaired individuals to experience music.  The event offered a unique experience to the audience by bringing together the universal language of music and the power of sign language.

Istanbul Kültür University will continue its endeavours to increase social awareness through emphasizing the importance of social responsibility projects and such events.  We would like to thank Instructor & Conductor Eser Dalyan, the choristers and all the supporters who coach the Turkish Sign Language Choir.

The IKU Vice Rector Prof.  Dr.  Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, IKU Secretary General Ender Rıza Ekici and Prof.  Dr.  Mehmet Toran from the Faculty of Education, paid a visit to IMM Social Services Department.  The IKU officials came together with the Head of Department Enif Yavuz Dipşar and had a meeting about the cooperation opportunities between IKU and the IMM Social Services Department.

Lepidus Ensemble, one of the popular chamber music ensembles, met with art lovers on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 19.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. The Lepidus Ensemble concert, which was founded as a string quartet in 2011, featured the repertoire of important composers such as Albioni, Mozart and Bregovic. The artists, who gave classical music lovers an unforgettable night, were sent off with applause.

The finalist films determined by the preliminary jury and the festival program at the SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival, which will be organized for the 5th time this year by IKU Department of Radio, Television and Cinema have been announced.

A total of 13 student productions made it to the finals in the documentary and fiction categories at the 5th SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival, which will be held in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on 21-23 May 2024. The screening of the finalist films will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

"Cinematography with Engin Özkaya" Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 between 10.00-12.00, and The "Short Film from Idea to Festival with Emre Sefer and Kasım Ördek" talk will be held under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Remziye Köse Özelçi between 14.00-15.30.

Following the cocktail that will start at 13.00 on Thursday, May 23, 2024, the best films determined by the main jury will be awarded at the Award Ceremony to be held at 14.00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

"Graduate Alumni Panel 1" was organized by IKU Graduate Education Institute on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 13.00. Our 2007 graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering, Non-Thesis Master's Degree in Construction, Timuçin Toksöz (Technology Design, R&DI Manufacturer, MSc.in Civil Engineer, Structural, Architectural (Exterior and Interior), Industrial design and analysis engineer), explained to our senior students the importance of doing a master's degree at Istanbul Kültür University and shared his experiences in business life as the speaker in the panel, moderated by our Deputy Director of the Graduate Education Institute, Assist. Prof. Andaç Toksoy.

Our Graduate Education Institute Director, Prof. Dr. Remzi Tunç Mısırlıoğlu, gave information to our senior students about our master's and doctoral programs.

Our Head of the Department of Arts and Culture Management Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan was awarded the “Yes to Art Special Award” together with many famous names at the award ceremony organized within the scope of “World Art Day” in cooperation with the Yes to Art Association and LIONS clubs. The award was presented to our teacher by the famous actor Tamer Levent.

The Department of Communication and Design organized an interview with Tunca Zeki Berkkurt, one of the few board game designers in Türkiye, whose latest game İnkılâp is on sale after two different board games named İhtilal and İttihat, on Wednesday, May 15 at 15.00 at the Design Factory in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. Berkkurt shared his personal experiences and observations on his introduction to board games, game spaces and groups in Türkiye, as well as his experiences on the financing of his latest game, its visual design and the design process of the playing mechanics.

Officials of İKÜ Vocational School and Dolmabahçe Aviation High School came together on Thursday, May 9, to evaluate cooperation opportunities in the field of education. During the meeting, common goals of training qualified workforce for the aviation industry of the future were emphasized. The training programs and applied approach offered by IKU Vocational School offer great potential to provide aviation high school students with a comprehensive education in the field of aviation.Within the framework of cooperation, our university's academic staff will develop educational materials and programs that can support students. This meeting, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation and sectoral partnerships in education, is a step towards making the aviation industry of the future stronger and more competitive.

The "Career Day" event was held by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall. At the event, our students had a stimulating day for their career plans by asking various questions to the participating companies, attending different workshops and evaluating the companies by voting at the end of the day.

Entrepreneurship in Türkiye Istanbul Kültür University Business Development, Industrial and Sectoral Relations Unit (İGESİB) President lecturer Selen Çeliköz came together with CHP Women's Branch with her speech titled "Women's Entrepreneurship in Türkiye" within the scope of "Demir Leblebi Meetings". At the meeting held via the ZOOM platform on Tuesday, May 7, with the participation of CHP Women's Branch Chairperson Aylin Nazlıaka, Women's Branch Deputy Chairperson Nejla Erdem, CHP Women's Branch Provincial and District Presidents, women entrepreneurship in Türkiye , factors that lead women to entrepreneurship, women entrepreneurs by region support programs, financial supports and similar issues were discussed.

In cooperation with the Department of Architecture and the Architecture Club, an event titled “Architecture and Innovation” was organized on Thursday, May 16th at Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building. Within the scope of the event; workshops were conducted by Serge Ferrari, Kasso and Serannit companies between 10.00-15.00.

After the workshops; Cem Kafadar gave a talk about his book “Artificial Intelligence in Construction” and Bahadır Kul gave a talk about his success story.

At the event, the awards of the photography contest themed “Digitalizing Everyday Life” were announced and the winners were presented their awards. The event continued with the farewell ceremony for the final year students of the Department of Architecture and ended with a pop music concert by Orchestra IKU.

In cooperation with the Department of New Media and Communication, New Media and Communication Club and Kültür Point, the "Career Method in New Media-3: Alumni Panel" event was organized on Monday, May 13, 2024. Our experienced graduates Yaprak Kordu (Tooplay - Jr. Sales Specialist), Gizem Kaycan (IKU Department of Corporate Communications - Graphic Design Assistant Specialist) and Buse Derin (Omg! Communication - Social Media and Content Specialist) joined as speakers to the event moderated by Lecturer Mert Efe Anğın. Our graduates shared their career-building methods and experiences in the new media industry, and especially talked about adaptation processes to the sector and career management issues.

The panel, which included valuable tips for students who want to pursue a career in the field of communication and media, discussed our graduates' experiences in the sector, their transition to working life, and their methods of adapting to changing trends in the sector.

Our students asked their questions to the panelists and gained valuable information about sectoral tips and career planning.

A conference titled "Science-You" was organized by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club to introduce students to multidisciplinary working areas. Prof. Dr. Meral Yüksel from Marmara University, Prof. Dr. Günnur Deniz from Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Soner Doğan from Yeditepe University and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tarık Baykal from Acıbadem University attended the event held at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Friday, May 10, as speakers. Guest speakers made their presentations at the event, which started with the opening speeches of Res.Assist. Enes Bal, one of our faculty members in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Prof. Dr. Seyhan Altun, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The event ended after presenting a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative plate to our guests.

The works of our Head of the Department of Art and Cultural Management Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan, are exhibited at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum. The exhibition can be visited until May 18.

The "Alumni Panel" was held by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema in the 1G-05 multi-purpose seminar hall on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in order to help students shape their career plans and direct their future. Our graduates İrden Bölükbaş and Vuslat Vurucu, who attended the event as speakers, told our students about their career journeys and the contribution of the education they received in the department to this journey. Bölükbaş and Vurucu emphasized the importance of making the most of the opportunities offered by the school and being a student while they are students. The panel ended after students' questions were answered

A seminar titled "An Innovative Approach to Cancer Research: Synthesis of Three-Dimensional Spheroid Cell Cultures with Zebrafish Models" was organized by the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  Participating in the event as a speaker, Dr.  Kübra Telli made a in depth presentation on the current cancer research and cell culture studies carried out in Zebrafish, used as a model organism in the field of molecular biology and genetics.

A seminar titled "The Significance of New Generation Social Media and Digital Marketing" was held with the joint efforts of the Department of Communication Arts and the Effective Communication Club, on Thursday, May 9. İlayda Bilek, the founder of Küçük&Co company, attended the event as a guest speaker and informed the students about how social media can be used as a tool of reaching success.

A  trip was organized to the Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts (İMOGA) on Tuesday, May 14 in cooperation with the Department of Communication and Design and the Department of Communication Arts, accompanied by our Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek. After Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek's explanations on Contemporary Turkish Art, our students toured the museum collection and had the opportunity to meet the founder of the museum, educator and artist Süleyman Saim Tekcan.

Our students, who received information about various printing techniques, also attended the gravure printing workshop and asked their questions about the subject to the expert staff of the museum.

The students of the IKU Department of Communication Arts accompanied by Assist. Prof. Göknur Sözneri, attended the "Paper Recycling" workshop held at Istanbul Modern on Wednesday, May 15th.  As a part of the event, the IKU students received important information about recycling, sustainability and design.

Students of the Department of Communication and Design as part of the 2023-2024 Spring Semester "İTB Technical Tours", they visited the "Now in Digital Art: Game Room" exhibition at Aksanat on Friday, May 10. Students attending the event received information about the exhibition under the guidance of our graduate Elif İkbal Yıldız and discussed examples of the intersection of Contemporary Art and the world of computer games. Students, who also experienced the games included in the exhibition at Aksanat, also had the opportunity to watch a movie (Machinima) produced with game tools.

With the participation of Program of Alternative Energy Sources Technology 2nd year students and academicians, a technical visit to the IMM Energy Management and Lightning Directorate Roof Solar Power Plant Application Site, where Istanbul Energy Inc. Chief of Energy Management, lecturer Savaş Alkan gives practical training, was organized in Bayrampaşa on Wednesday, May 8, at 16.00.

The Faculty of Education will organize a “Faculty of Education Alumni Breakfast” event on Sunday, May 19 at 10.00 am at Kültür College Alumni Lodge in order to bring the graduates together.

IKU ATAMER (Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center) will organize a march in Belgrade Forest on Sunday, May 19 to celebrate May 19 Youth and Sports Day and commemorate our ancestor.

Note: For the march, a bus will leave from the front gate of Bakırköy campus Ataköy building at 12.30 pm.

The Mathematics-Computer Club will organize “Software and Innovation Summit” with the participation of senior executives from the most important companies in the software industry on Monday, May 20 between 10.00-16.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

Psychology Club will organize a conference titled “Modern Psychotraumatology and Trauma-Centered Alliance Model Therapy” to inform students about dissociative disorders. The event, where Prof. Dr. Erdinç Öztürk and Lecturer Dr. Görkem Derin from Istanbul University will be the speakers, will be held on Monday, May 20 at 10:00 am at the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

The Faculty of Health Sciences will organize a conference titled “Health Education III: Overview of Obesity and Bariatric Surgery” conference in order to bring together students and specialists in the field and provide them with up-to-date information. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Erkan Yardımcı from Medicana Ataköy Hospital will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, May 20 at 13.00 at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Block C Seminar Hall.

The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program will organize an “Alumni Panel” where undergraduate students and graduates will come together. The event, where Kültür College Secondary School Psychological Counselor Şilan Ukay, Çatalca Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Secondary School Psychological Counselor Kübra Dağ and Psychological Counselor Dilan Durmaz will be speakers, will be held on Monday, May 20 at 13.30 on the CATS platform.

IKU Young Office will organize “First Aid Training in Emergency Situations” in order to raise awareness of our students about saving human life and stabilizing the health status in emergencies. The training, which will be given by Lecturer Emin Aksan, Head of our Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program, will be held on Monday, May 20 at 13.00 at Bakırköy Youth and Sports District Directorate Ataköy International Youth Center Conference Hall.

IKU Performing Arts Club will organize a “Music Feast” event with the contributions of the Turkish Classical Music Choir on Monday, May 20 at 16.00 in the backyard of Bakırköy campus Ataköy building in order to bring our students together with Turkish Classical Music.

Theater Club will organize a “Theater Festival” with the participation of university theater clubs. In the festival, which will be held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center between May 20-24, besides our university, student clubs of Istanbul Gelişim University, Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul University, Yeditepe University and Istanbul Gedik University will perform their plays.

The “SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival”, which will be organized for the fifth time this year by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, will be hosted by Bakırköy campus Ataköy building between May 21-23.

The Department of Entrepreneurship will organize a technical trip to Marmara Technopark on Tuesday, May 21, in order to strengthen students' engagement with the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The Department of Elementary Education will organize a conference titled “Loose Parts Play in Early Childhood” to provide preschool teacher candidates with the skills of creative play design with loose parts. The event, where Dr. Tuba Eren Öcal from Birth2Day Preschool Education Consultancy will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 11:00 on the ground floor conference hall of Küçükçekmece campus.

The Leadership and Management Program will organize a “CV Preparation Techniques and Interview Simulation” event to prepare students for business life by informing them about CV preparation techniques. The event, where Human Resources Manager Başak Angışhan will be a speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd between 13.00-15.00 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

 A career day and training event at Burdock Hotel Istanbul, Autograph Collection will be organized by the Program of Tourism and Hotel Management to help students in their career planning.  The training, lead by Murat Kuyucu, General Manager of Burdock Hotel Istanbul, Autograph Collection, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, between 13.00-17.00.

An event titled  “Aviation Talks-1” will be organized by the Civil Aviation Club operating within the IKU Vocational School to help students' career planning.  The event, in which Çelebi Ground Handling General Manager Osman Yılmaz is to be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 14.00 in the auditorium number 1A-01 in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

Orchestra IKU will give a concert titled "Factory Acoustic" with the theme of "Foreign Pop" on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 14.00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

An event titled  "Psychoanalysing Adolf Hitler" will be organized by the PDR Club in order to help guide the personal development of students.  The event, in which Specialist Doctor Nedim Havle from Bahçelievler State Hospital is to be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 21.00 on the ZOOM platform.

A technical visit to Tarım Kredi Et Co. will be organized by The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics on Thursday, May 23, between 10.00-15.00.

"FQ Charging Launch" will be held by the Foreign Trade Club to demonstrate the battery designed for electric vehicles by Zafer Çiyit, an IKU student from the Department of International Trade and Finance and the President of the Foreign Trade Club.  The launch will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 11:00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

An event titled "Innovation Workshop 2024" will be organized by the Department of Entrepreneurship in order to empower the students to reach a higher capacity of innovation and enable the development of innovations that can be implemented at the university. The event,  in which Lecturer Salih Keskin from the IKU Department of International Trade and Finance is to be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 23, between 13.00-17.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

A conference titled "Exploring Recent Trends: Generative AI in Education" will be organized by The Department of Foreign Languages Education to inform students about the use of artificial intelligence in language education. The event, in which Lecturer Başak Yağmur from the IKU Department of Foreign Languages  as well as Editor & Translator Beyza Doğan from Öncül Analitik Felsefe Magazine are to be speakers, will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 13.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

 A trip to the "Istanbul Dialogue Museum" will be organized by The Department of Special Education on Friday, May 24, as a part of the "Hearing and Visual Impairment" course, in order to improve students' ability to empathize with individuals with visual impairments.

The event titled "MediaVision Summit" will be organized with the joint efforts of New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, to empower the students to get to know the media domain in depth.  The event, in which influencers Ceren Yaldız, Burak Işık, Sena Bostancı, Metin Pıhlıs, Batuhan Soyaslan and Emir Yazıcı are to be speakers, will be held on Friday, May 24, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

A visit to the "Topkapı Palace Museum and Archeology Museum" will be organized with the joint efforts of Department of Foreign Languages Education and the Department of Educational Sciences, on Friday, May 24.

"International Day" event will be organized with the joint efforts of the International Relations Unit, Dance Club and Erasmus Club.  The event, in which international students at IKU will get to introduce their own countries and present the local dishes they have prepared, will be held on Friday, May 24, between 12.00-18.00 in the backyard of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

A talk titled "Effective Communication and Empathy" will be organized by the IKU Vocational School to inform students about healthy communication and empathy in communication.  The event, in which Apple Manager İnci Özdemir Ünalan is to be the speaker, will be held on Friday, May 24, at 14.00 in the auditorium number 1A-01 in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

The "Alumni Panel" event will be organized by the Department of Primary Education, where students and graduates will come together.  The event, in which Baby College Children's Yoga Instructor Yaren Güven Toplar, SEKA Children's Academy Founding Director Buse Şahintürk and Bilfen College Kindergartens Guidance Group Head Merve Dura are to be the speakers, will be held on Friday, May 24, at 14.30 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.
