Istanbul Kültür University started its 25th foundation year special studies as of the spring semester. Opening its 25th anniversary corporate memory portal with the extension https://25yil.iku.edu.tr/, İKÜ attracted attention with its special anniversary exhibition titled “Traces of 25 Years”. Those who want to contribute to the exhibition and digital portal works, prepared and carried out by the Department of Corporate Communications, by sharing images and memories, will be able to send texts and photographs to kidb@iku.edu.tr.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) brought the world-famous composer and pianist Fazıl Say together with art lovers at the concert it organized for the 25th anniversary. The concert, which was held in cooperation with the Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) and Kültür College Foundation, was hosted by Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 19.00. In the concert, where art lovers showed great interest; In addition to his own works, Fazıl Say also sang pieces by composers from the Classical and Baroque period. The recital, in which Fazıl Say performed some works live for the first time, enchanted the audience.

The application process for the "Start-Up Festival III", which will be held for the third time this year by the  Department of Entrepreneurship, with the main sponsorship of TABAN GIDA and with the contributions of the Information Commercialization Center (BTM), has begun

In “Start-Up Feast III”, where bigger and more surprise awards will take place this year;  Under the main sponsorship of TABAN GIDA, the first prize is 15 thousand TL, the second prize is 10 thousand TL, and the third prize is 5 thousand TL.  In addition to these, honorable mention awards will be presented to the fourth and fifth places.  "Training Set" award will be given by BTM to the projects that are ranked in the competition.  In addition, mentor support will be provided to the participants at the "Start-Up Festival III", where investment support will be provided for the projects participating in the competition. 

The competition will be open to high school and university students this year as well.

Department of Architecture (English Programme) Diploma Project group visited the selected project areas within the scope of cooperation with Fatih Municipality, together with our Prof. Dr. Dean Neslihan Dostoğlu and one of our academics, Assist. Prof. Emre Arslan, on Wednesday, February 16. Within the framework of the visit, a seminar was given to our students first. Afterwards, the project plots were examined in detail and the biennial in the restored Yedikule Fortress was visited.

Assist. Prof. H. Neyir Tekeli, Academic Head of Aviation Programs at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School, and Lecturer Evren Yılmaz, one of the Academics of Program of Flight Operations Management, met with Osman Yılmaz, General Manager of ÇELEBİ Ground Handling Inc., and Gökçen Dervişoğlu, Human Resources Director, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, they had a meeting. In the meeting, which was very productive for both parties; The development of aviation, the impact of the pandemic process on aviation, internship and sectoral cooperation were discussed.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Program of Tourism and Hotel Management Head Lecturer Pelin Tuna Arslan's article titled "Destination Marketing" was published in the 25th Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair EMITT February special issue of Hotel newspaper.

Short Film and Documentary Projects of our students started to be broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Program of Radio and TV Technology called Culture Mushroom. The documentary film "Mücadelem Istanbul", directed by Ümmühan Okutucu, Ozan Kuzey and Murathan İçmen, is on the Kültür Mantarı Youtube channel.

He was born in the district of Çarşamba, Samsun in 1995. He completed his primary and secondary education at Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil Primary School in Istanbul. After secondary education, he was thrown into the textile industry. While his textile adventure continues, he also completed open education high school. After his high school education, he decided to study fashion design in order to move his profession to the top. This is how he met Istanbul Kültür University. In 2016, he started Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Fashion Design. In this two-year adventure, he founded the Fashion Club and continued its presidency. He graduated from Istanbul Kültür University in 2018 with a third degree. Now he was both regimented and schooled in the industry. After graduation, he worked as a quality inspector in a corporate company. After working in this position for a year, he took a job as a computer aided design instructor in the academy department of another corporate company. He started working at Pelin Triko company in 2020. He still works as a Design Coordinator & Design R&D Specialist in this company.

 The article titled “Statistical Evaluation of Exchange Performance of Banks Traded in The Sustainability Index” by Lecturer Dr. Ayşegül Berrak Köten, Head of Program of Banking and Insurance Secondary Education, was published in R&S - Research Studies Anatolia Journal.

The Industrial Engineering Club will organize an event titled "FUTURE'22" in order to build bridges between the leading companies and CEOs of the sector and our students and to support them to strengthen their communication. The Department of Cartoon and Animation will organize an event titled "Interview with Cenk Köksal & Portfolio Evaluation" in order to introduce students to the sector and to allow them to evaluate their portfolios. The event, where Animation Director & Character Designer Cenk Köksal will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, February 22, between 16.00-18.00 on CATS.

The Department of Foreign Languages ​​will organize a talk titled "You are the co-pilot" in order to improve student autonomy. The event, where Academic Projects and Development Manager Duygu Erdoğan will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 11:00 in the C Block B1 Seminar Hall in Şirinevler Campus.

Department of Architecture will organize a trip to Fatih on February 23,2022 at Wednesday between 13.00 and 16.30 in the scope of the project titled “Climate Crisis and Awareness Center” within the “MIM0080-B Diploma Project Group B.”

The white gowns which are symbolizing the transition to sector and the clinical health sciences of the first and second year students of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and also the symbol for physiotherapists; will be donned by our esteemed physiotherapists to our students on February 23, Wednesday between 15.00-17.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) will bring together the international group exhibition "Geçit/Gate" with art lovers. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with IKU and Pinelo Art Gallery, will feature the works of approximately thirty artists from Bulgaria, Greenland, Japan, Canada, Ukraine and Greece. Curated by Cem Aggelos Ustuner, the exhibition will open on Wednesday, February 23 at 15.00 at the IKÜSAG Exhibition Hall. The exhibition can be visited until March 23, 2022.

IKU Faculty of Science and Letters continues to organize "Coffee Excuse Meetings" in order to share studies that are important in terms of research and analysis in the field of Basic Science and Social Sciences. Assist. Prof. Derya Altınmakas, one of the academicians of the Department of English Language and Literature, will be the speaker, and the seminar titled "Distance Education from the Perspectives of Students and Faculty Members" will be held on the CATS platform on Wednesday, February 23, between 15.00-17.00.

The Department of Business Administration will organize an event titled “Conversations on Logistics and Entrepreneurship with Entrepreneur of the Year, İsa Korkmaz”, in order to give students a practical example of entrepreneurship. The Department of Architecture continues to bring famous architects together with its students and the architectural environment in the 2021-2022 Spring Semester. Architect Gökhan Avcıoğlu will be the first speaker of the conference series to be held face to face at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. The event, where Avcıoğlu will deliver a speech titled "Cultural Futures in Architecture and Technology" on what awaits the architecture and technology environment in the future, will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 15.00.

Kültür Point will organize the "Thought and Idea Generating Workshop". The workshop, which will be carried out by trainer Numan Aydınoğlu, will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 17.00 on CATS.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with the people of Kültür and art lovers. Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center will host the theater play named “Piraye”, which will be staged by IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) as part of the 2021-2022 Art Season, on Thursday, February 24 at 19.00.

The "The You Inside Me Workshop" will be organized by Kültür Point to recognize chemical and behavioural addictions, prevent risky behaviours, improve self-confidence by enabling students to know themselves, and increase their empathy and saying no skills. The workshop, to be carried out by Specialist Clinical Psychologist Aysu Çelenoğlu, will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 12:00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall.

Kültür Point will organize “Diction and Effective Body Language Training” so that participants can speak Turkish effectively and use body language correctly. The training, which will be given by trainer İlknur Güneş, will be held on Friday, February 25, between 14.00-17.00 at Önder Öztunalı Hall.

I was born in 1996 in Istanbul. I graduated from Istanbul Aydın University in 2016. I take care to be positive at all times of my life and to communicate within the framework of respect and love. I enjoy going to the movies in my spare time.

After graduating, I started to work in the Registrar's Office of TR Istanbul Kültür University in 2017. Thanks to this, I joined the Kültür Family and I am very happy to be a part of this family.

If I were to talk about an unforgettable memory within the Kültür, the fact that one of our students learned about my birthday by researching and celebrating it with a cute gift, despite being out of town, made me very emotional and very happy.

To describe Istanbul Kültür University in one word; That would be 'belonging'.

Principled by the Embodied, Situated, and Distributed Cognition (ESDC), this innovative book will provide evidence supporting the embeddedness of a thinking-in-acting model as a fundamental framework that explains and supports students'acquisition of scientific knowledge. So often ‘western'science curricula are experienced as irrelevant, since it does not take cognizance of the daily experiences and world in which the learner finds himself. This book takes a socio-cultural look at IKS and applies research in neuroscience to make a case its incorporation in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classroom. We use the Embodied Situated Distributed Cognition (ESDC) Model as conceptual framework in this book. Although the value of IKS is often acknowledged in curriculum policy documents, teachers are most often not trained in incorporating IK in the classroom. Teachers'lack of the necessary pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) in effectively incorporating IK in their classrooms is a tremendous problem internationally. Another problem is that IK is often perceived as “pseudo-science”, and scholars advocating for the incorporation of IK in the school curriculum often do not contextualize their arguments within a convincing theoretical and conceptual framework.
