İstanbul Kültür University organized “Job Belongs To Knower of It. Entrepreneurship Models” webinar series in which Lecturer Berrak Köten, Lecturer Dr. Barış Safran and Lecturer Burak Öçlü were moderators. The webinar series continued with an interview titled "Social Entrepreneurship and Motivation" on Wednesday, 12 August 2020. In the webinar that Social Entrepreneur, Professional Mountaineer, Photographer and Author Nasuh Mahruki was the guests, he also answered the questions of the participants. Nasuh Mahruki stated that the source of motivation, depending on the relationship it establishes with life, existence, nature and the universe is a whole and synergy that comes from feeling. Mahruki, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the AKUT Foundation and the Chairman of the Board of the AKUT Sports Club, stated that life can be both very enjoyable and very dangerous, just like in the hunt-hunter relationship in the wild, but it may also involve various risks. Mahruki who is the Head and Board Member of Common Purpose Association and ASHOKA Association (established in Turkey) stated that we need the awareness brought by learning and experience and continuous self-improvement. Saying that we are in an age of great change and transformation, Mahruki exemplified this situation with concepts such as communication, advances in transportation, technological revolution, quantum leap, robotic technologies, artificial intelligence and systems that include the combination of the human mind. Mahruki who is also a member of the UGSAD, Turkey's National Olympic Committee, Underwater Research Society and Explorer's Club assert that the rest of society outside of these developments, institutions and individuals will remain outside the new normal, and they will be adversely affected by the global development and progress. Mahruki, who rescued 220 people from the debris during the 17 August 1999 Marmara Earthquake with the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), which he founded with his 7 friends at the beginning, said that those who adapt to this age of speed and change will have development, developed companies and economic power with higher returns. Underlining that issues such as traveling to Mars and immortality are discussed in developed countries, Mahruki emphasized the importance of values such as modernity, courtesy, freedom, respect, productivity, quality, and goal orientation. Besides mountaineering, caving, diving with tools, paragliding, motor sports, cycling and sailing Sports, Mahruki emphasized personal development, pushing boundaries and enhancing experiences in the face of concepts that express change such as globalization, technological development, digitalization. Nasuh Mahruki, who married Mine Mahruki in a traditional wedding ceremony during a motorcycle ride to the Kingdom of Bhutan in the Himalayas, talked about the importance of knowledge, liveliness and a meaningful life. Mahruki, who has taken the title of Snow Leopard by climbing five mountains higher than 7 thousand meters between 1992-1994, and who is the first mountiner climbed Mount Everest in 1995, stated that prejudice and discrimination should be avoided. Mahruki, the youngest athlete who completed the Seven Summits project by climbing the highest mountain of seven continents in 1996, stated that having a rich perspective that differs according to culture, art, social life, geography and climate improves people. Mahruki, a founding member of AKUT and currently its honorary president, expressed that it is necessary to be tolerant of different cultures rather than to be judgmental. Mahruki, who has made motorcycle trips in Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sıkkım, Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia and various countries of Europe, shared his personal experiences with our participants. Mahruki who has done Turkey's highest solo climb Cho Oyu; who has done the climbing to Lhotse and K2 mountains,Turkey's highest oxygen unsupported climbing, emphasized the sense of responsibility with regard to social entrepreneurship. Mahruki stated that the extraordinary power of human beings today should be controlled. Mahruki who has been chosen as Fellow of the ASHOKA Foundation from America because of pioneering social entrepreneurship in rescue efforts stated that until the last 70-80 thousand years, humanity's impact on transformation and nature has been limited, but this has reached incredible dimensions today, as in the case of business machines. Mahruki, who was awarded the International Gusi Peace Prize from the Philippines and was awarded by Mongolia Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with JUUKH BICHIG appreciation, increased the awareness of our participants to nature and the environment by saying "We belong to nature". Mahruki, who not only saved lives during the Marmara earthquake but also organized volunteers from all over Turkey, pointed out that global warming occurred because the authorities could not take the necessary measures. Mahruki, who has worked as a columnist in various newspapers and magazines and has prepared documentary programs on television channels, defined social entrepreneurship as “taking care of the problems in the land we live in as part of the solution”. Nasuh Mahruki, a member of the Mahruki family who has been living in Istanbul for two centuries and has traveled seven continents, compared Istanbul and other cities in the interview. Mahruki, the 6th generation grandson of Nasuhzade martyr Chief Admiral Ali Pasha who served Sultan Mahmud the second during the Ottoman period, said "Istanbul is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but we must protect this feature in all aspects." Nasuhi Mahruki who is the son of Turkish Numismatic Society Head and Turkey’s one of the most important collectors Cem Mahruki said that Bosphorus has the world's most beautiful waterways Mahruki who has given seminars on leadership, teamwork, personal development, self-knowledge, goal-orientation, determination, discipline and risk management on various platforms, said, "We must protect Istanbul, one of the oldest cities in the world, and all its historical wealth with all our sensitivity." Stating that the population of Istanbul has doubled since the 90's, Mahruki emphasized the different requirements of a common life. Drawing attention to the earthquake risk in our country and Istanbul, Mahruki responded positively to the proposal of Lecturer Oğuzcan Akgöl, Deputy Director of Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School, to cooperate with the AKUT Foundation and said that we can work together with pleasure in efficient and effective projects. |
