The project titled “Energy Efficient Living Unit for Disaster Situations” created by Şimal Kalkan, 4th year student of Architecture (English) and Öykü Konya, 2nd year student of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Filiz Bal Koçyiğit, who has been instructing compulsory and elective courses for the last two years in our Department of Architecture, along with the coordination of Nursima Şevli, a 4th year student of the Department of Architecture (English),  was granted monetary aid as a part of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program.

 The project also, is in the evaluation phase having passed the pre-selection in the “Disaster Management” category “University and Above Level” in the TEKNOFEST Technology Contest for the Benefit of Humanity.

A conference titled “The School of Athens” was organized by the Faculty of Science and Letters, on Friday, March 17, between 14.00-17.00 at Erdal Inönü Seminar Hall in our Ataköy Campus. In the event where one of our retired lecturers Mehmet Süha Sarıoğlu attended as the speaker, the work of Rafaello, one of the greatest geniuses of the Renaissance, "The School of Athens", in which he included many early philosophers, was interpreted. Our students showed great interest in the conference.

IKU Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof.  Dr.  Neslihan Dostoğlu, on 18 February 2023 at Kültür Radio and Television (KRT) appeared as a guest on the programme titled “Is Istanbul Earthquake Prepared?” alongside Prof.  Dr.  Ahmet Ercan, Prof.  Dr.  Ali Kahriman, Prof.  Dr. Fuat Ercan, Archaeologist Nezih Başgelen, Prof.  Dr.  Okan Tüysüz, Assoc.  Dr. Ali Tolga and Architect Tezcan Karakuş Candan. In the program, the earthquakes that hit Kahramanmaraş on February 6 and the possible earthquake processes for Istanbul were discussed in great detail.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO), which fulfills the requirements of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Directive (SHT-IHA) in all aspects, was given a training authorization certificate by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. IHA0 and IHA1 Commercial Pilot Trainings will start in April 2023 at IKU Vocational School.

Our Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu participated as a panelist in the panel titled "The 2023 Earthquake and Aftermath in Türkiye and Syria" organized by Mercy College in New York. In the panel attended by the Consul General of New York Reyhan Özgür, Prof. Ibrahim Fenen and Gökçe Alp from the University of Alabama, our lecturer evaluated the economic effects of the earthquake.

Director-Screenwriter Lect. Univ. Dr. Bogdan Mustata, Head of the Department of Film Directing & Production of National University of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale (UNATC), one of the leading film schools in Romania, visited our Department of Radio, Television and Cinema as part of the Erasmus Staff Mobility. Our Department Head Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz, our Co-Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Bilgehan Ece Şakrak and Dr. Bogdan Mustata made an assessment about the course operation processes and international projects to be carried out jointly.

Res. Assist. Elif Küçük, from the Faculty of the Department of International Trade and Finance, met with tenth grade students of Kültür Science High School within the scope of the "Future Kültür" courses. In the course, where "Industry 4.0" was discussed in the historical process, the leading technologies of "Industry 4.0" were also mentioned.

Student Life, Career and Alumni Counseling Unit (Kültür Point) Assistant Alumni Relations Specialist Kadir Akhan visited Cemaleddin Aslan, one of our 2012 graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN), in order to strengthen alumni relations, support graduate-students in their career paths and establish new connections. Our 2nd year students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Asena Aydın and Özge Öztürk, also attended the visit on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Our graduate, who works as the Chief Risk Officer at Pleksus, shared his professional experiences with our students. Cemaleddin Aslan who stated that he will always help our students as a volunteer mentor due to his commitment to Istanbul Kültür University, filled out the Alumni Memories Book.

The documentary titled "The Sounds of the Canopy" (Gök Kubbenin Sedaları), in which Burak Bahadır Yazıcıoğlu, one of our alumni from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, takes over the editing and cinematography, and Günay Bozkurt, one of our alumni, takes over the camera and drone operator, is included in the film selection of IKSV Istanbul Film Festival. We congratulate our alumni and wish them continued success.

In cooperation with IKU Technology Transfer Office and Devium, a summit conference titled "Devium Summit: The Journey of a Web3 Project" will be held to bring together those interested in Blockchain and Web3 in our country. In the event, what steps a Web3 project should take from the idea stage to its listing on the stock market will be discussed, will be held on Saturday, March 25, between 10.00-18.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (IKUSAG) will host an event, visual representations of Turkish theater within the scope of Archive Exhibitions. The exhibition titled "Turkish Theater Iconography: A Depiction of Contemplation" exemplifies how genres that embody the basic elements and traditions of Turkish theater, such as Karagöz, Light comedy (Ortaoyunu), Improvisational Theatre (Tulûat), Public Storyteller (Meddah), Juggler and Puppet, are interpreted in different fields of art. In the exhibition curated by Assist. Prof. Nazlı M. Ümit, Karagöz Artist & from the Department of Art and Cultural Management;the works of Atilla İlkyaz, Ayla Aksoyoğlu, Bülent Üstün, Cihat Burak, Doğu Erte, Fethi Karakaş, Gaspare Fossati, Hüseyin Bilgin, Jacek Malczewski, Malik Aksel, Mehmet Muazzez Özduygu, Münif Fehim Özarman, Nuri Abaç, Sabri Berkel, Salih Erimez, Şefik Bursalı, Turhan Selçuk, Turgut Zaim, Ümit İyem, Zeki Faik İzer as well as other artists from the nineteenth century to the present day were featured. The exhibition organized in the name of Karagöz Artist Alpay Ekler (UNESCO Living Human Treasure), who passed away in 2022, can be visited at the IKÜSAG Exhibition Hall between 27 March-19 April 2023.

The event titled "Social Traumas and Our Mental Health" will be held as part of the Academy of Sustainable Life After Disaster organized by Kültür Point. The event, in which Psychiatrist & Author Dr. Arzu Erkan will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at 16.00 via the Microsoft Teams application.

IKU Faculty of Science and Letters continues to organize "Not Just for the Sake of Coffee Meetings" in order to share studies that are important in terms of research and analysis in the field of Hard and Social Sciences. The seminar titled "Life Coming Out of Things: A Proposal Regarding the Literary Relatives of Uşaklıgil, Tanpınar and Pamuk" in which Res. Assist. Dr. Güler Uğur Melikoğlu from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature will be the speaker will be held on Wednesday, March 29, at 15.00 at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club (Etkili İletişim Kulübü), the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, a panel talk titled "Digitalizing Customer, Non-digitalizing Brands" will be held in order to support the career planning processes of students. The event, in which Hammer Jack E-Commerce Director Mustafa Levent Elmas will be the speaker, will be held on the CATS platform on Wednesday, March 29 at 20.30.

Kültür Point will organize the "Diction and Etiquette Training" in order to teach the rules of etiquette and courtesy that the participants can apply in all areas of life by enabling them to speak Turkish effectively. The training, which will be given by Özcan Tekdemir, will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, between 15.00-18.00 on the CATS platform.
