Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (IKUSAG) will host an event, visual representations of Turkish theater within the scope of Archive Exhibitions. The exhibition titled "Turkish Theater Iconography: A Depiction of Contemplation" exemplifies how genres that embody the basic elements and traditions of Turkish theater, such as Karagöz, Light comedy (Ortaoyunu), Improvisational Theatre (Tulûat), Public Storyteller (Meddah), Juggler and Puppet, are interpreted in different fields of art. In the exhibition curated by Assist. Prof. Nazlı M. Ümit, Karagöz Artist & from the Department of Art and Cultural Management;the works of Atilla İlkyaz, Ayla Aksoyoğlu, Bülent Üstün, Cihat Burak, Doğu Erte, Fethi Karakaş, Gaspare Fossati, Hüseyin Bilgin, Jacek Malczewski, Malik Aksel, Mehmet Muazzez Özduygu, Münif Fehim Özarman, Nuri Abaç, Sabri Berkel, Salih Erimez, Şefik Bursalı, Turhan Selçuk, Turgut Zaim, Ümit İyem, Zeki Faik İzer as well as other artists from the nineteenth century to the present day were featured. The exhibition organized in the name of Karagöz Artist Alpay Ekler (UNESCO Living Human Treasure), who passed away in 2022, can be visited at the IKÜSAG Exhibition Hall between 27 March-19 April 2023. |
