Onur Salkım's photography exhibition titled "Notice: The Free Wings of Nature", which includes 30 photographs of migratory birds taken in their natural environment with informative notes, was presented to art lovers and nature lovers at Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (IKUSAG) on Wednesday, April 24.

The exhibition, where our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, our Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek and Res. Assist. Onur Salkım made the opening speeches, also gives important messages about natural habitats and biodiversity.

In our country, which is on an important migration route for birds due to its geographical location, we see migratory birds in their natural habitat in various parts of Türkiye, especially in Istanbul, through Onur Salkım's lens. The exhibition, prepared to draw attention to the world of these unique beauties with which we share the same nature, points out to the struggle of these free spirits whose living spaces are shrinking under the pressure of global warming and urbanization.

The exhibition, which invites us to notice these beauties passing by, can be visited at the IKUSAG Exhibition Hall until May 29, 2024.

A visit was paid to IKU, by Rector of Kinnaird College for Women, Pakistan's first incubation center specifically for women, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana David, Vice-Chancellor and Head of Research Operations Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yaqub and their team, coordinated by Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Technology Transfer Office Inc., to help initiate exciting opportunities by encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and academic exchange between the two institutions, on Thursday, April 25.

During the visit, the protocol was signed with the participation of IKU Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, IKU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Technology Transfer Office A.Ş. manager Cüneyt Genç, to facilitate the carrying out of joint research, commercialization of research outputs and cooperation between entrepreneurship centers.

In cooperation with IKU Design Factory, Mathematics-Computer Club, Art Basket Club and Game Design and Development Club, an event titled "ANTS Fusion" was organized, where companies in the digital game industry and students came together. The event, hosted by the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus on Thursday, April 25, started with the Motion Capture dance show.

The speech of Gökhan Üzmez, the founder of Ludus Ventures, the main sponsor of the event, and the "Digital Game Panel" moderated by Design Factory Manager Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay were followed by game tournaments and Gamfed volunteer Betül Aras Bayır's talk on "Gamification is Everywhere".

In the event where our student clubs and 28 game companies came together in the backyard of the Ataköy building, the Orchestra IKU took the stage and gave the participants enjoyable moments.

A visit was paid to IKU Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering by a delegation, consisting of Chamber of Electrical Engineers (EMO) Istanbul Branch Chairman Erhan Karaçay, Board Treasurer Reha Şen and Board Member Nedim Bingöl, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.  At the meeting, in which not only ideas were expressed back and forth in the both professional and technical fields, but also issues related to joint activities were discussed. The meeting was attended by Head of the Department of Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Oruç Bilgiç, as well as from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Assoc. Prof. Esra Saatçı, Assist. Prof. Berrak Öztürk Şimşek, Assist. Prof. Ertuğrul Saatçı and Lecturer Dr.  Batu Varlık.

Michal KACZMARZYK, Marcin CZARNOBREWY, Jakub TOMICZEK and Mariusz KOWALSKI, from Departments of Architecture and Foreign Languages ​​of the University of Applied Science in Nysa (Poland), paid a visit to the İKÜ Department of Architecture as a part of the Erasmus + Staff Mobility, and carried out a program titled "Graphic illumination and the language of the city" on 4 April 2024. As a part of the program, Michal KACZMARZYK gave a seminar on new approaches in public space and exterior lighting design, and Marcin CZARNOBREWY gave a seminar on graphics, language and narratives in murals in public spaces.  And as a part of the workshop held afterwards, students created designs consisting of texts, graphics and light with the guidance of guest faculty members.

The project designed by Furkan Şanlı, a graduate of İKÜ Department of Architecture, and their team consisting of Elif Aydın Demir and Seda Özten  won the special jury award at the “Competition for the Conceptual Architectural Design of the Hospital Facility within ‘Danilo I’ General Hospital Complex in Cetinje”.

The "Play and Learning from the Past" project promotion event was held with the joint efforts of İKÜ Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, İKÜ Technology Transfer Office and Istanbul Governorship European Union and Foreign Relations Office, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. At the event, information about Erasmus+, KA1 and KA2 projects was shared.

A trip to  “Building, Construction Materials and Technologies Fair” (Building İndustry Fair) was organized as a part of the “Building Information and Materials II” course given in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (Turkish and English Programme), held at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Centre between 17-20 April 2024.

At the trip accompanied by Assist. Prof. Elif Altın, Assist. Prof. Aliye Rahşan Karabetça, Lecturer  Yasemin Tuzlu Erol, Lecturer  Ezgi Yıldırım, Lecturer Özlem Güven and Res. Assist. Kadir Yesir on Wednesday, April 17, students had the chance to see first hand the materials and new construction technologies discussed in the lessons.

In cooperation with the Department of Special Education and Tohum Autism Foundation, a symposium titled "The Last 20 Years of Autism in the World and Turkey" will be held in order to raise awareness among students. The event, where experts in their fields will speak will be held on Monday, April 29, between 09.00-14.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Vocational School, Design Factory and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, a conversation titled "Journey to the Digital Future: Meeting with the Head of IETT Department of Information Technology " will be held, where professionals and technology enthusiasts who keep their finger on the pulse of technology and innovation will come together. The event where İETT head of Department of Information Technology   Çağdaş Mersinlioğlu will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, April 29, at 11:00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the International Relations Unit and the Dance Club, an "International Day and World's Dance Day" event will be held in the backyard of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Monday, April 29, between 12.00-18.00, to allow our international students to introduce their countries and to celebrate "World Dance Day".

In cooperation with İKÜ Young Office and T.R. the Ministry of Youth and Sports, an "Ecological Literacy" conference will be held to teach the place of ecology in our lives, its environmental and individual effects, and the steps of becoming ecologically literate. The event, where our university academicians Assist. Prof. Bilge Şan Özbilen, Assist. Prof. Aliye Rahşan Karabetça and lecturer Ezgi Yıldırım will be speakers, will be held on Monday, April 29, at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Department of International Relations will organize "Project Writing Training" to support the personal development of students. The training, which will be given by İKÜ TTO Director Cüneyt Genç, will be held on Monday, April 29, at 13.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

A conference titled "Conception of National Sovereignty from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic" will be organized by İKÜ ATAMER on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Burcu Kurt from Istanbul Technical University will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, April 29, at 15.30 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. After the conference, İKÜ Turkish Folk Music Choir will take the stage and sing Atatürk's favorite songs.

A workshop titled "Dating Violence and Safe Relationships" will be organized by the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Application and Research Center. The event, where Expert Psychologist Merve Karabulut and Psychologist Nurgül Öz from the Association for Combating Sexual Violence will be speakers, will be held on Tuesday, April 30, between 08.30-17.00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 1st floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication a conversation titled "A Look at Neuromarketing: How Do We Tell You What Your Consumers Cannot ?" will be held. The event, where award-winning Neuromarketing Consultant Seda Genç will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 13.00 in the 4th floor multi-purpose hall in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. 

The Department of Foreign Languages Education will organise the 'Department of Foreign Languages Education Alumni Panel' to enable graduates to share their professional experiences with our students. The event, where Bilfen Schools English Teacher Nisa Nur Özütler and Münir Tınaztepe Anatolian High School English Teacher Çağla Yıldız will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, 30 April at 14.00 in the Z-16 conference hall of Küçükçekmece campus.

The Design Factory will organise a panel talk titled "Chaos Theory: Science Fiction or Real Science?" The event, in which our Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer will be a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, 30 April at 14.00 at the Design Factory in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The theatre play “I Close My Eyes and Do My Duty”, prepared by IKU Theatre Club throughout the year, will meet with the audience on Tuesday, April 30 at 19.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

IKU Geek Club will organise "May The 4th Be With You" event on Thursday, May 2nd between 09.00-18.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. Within the scope of the event to be held on the occasion of ‘4 May Star Wars Day’, two films from the Star Wars series will be watched.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, an interview titled “Staying Up to Date on the Digital Career Journey-I” will be organised. The event, in which TOGG User Experience Specialist Berk Sarper Şenol will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at 13.00 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema will organise a panel talk titled “Star System in Türkiye and Fikret Hakan” to support students' career planning processes. The event, in which Prof. Dr. Nigar Pösteki from Kocaeli University will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 13.00 on the 1st floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building in the multi-purpose hall.

In cooperation with the Program of Business Management and the Program of Foreign Trade, a trip will be organized to the Information Commercialization Center (BTM) on Thursday, May 2, in order to inform students about entrepreneurship-innovation in the commercialization and growth processes of new business ideas.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize “ITB Art Workshops: Murat Uluk” to inform students about the basic concepts, techniques and current trends in web design. The event, in which Assist. Prof. Murat Uluk from Istanbul Beykent University Department of New Media, will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 14.00 in the computer workstation AK 1B 11-13 in the Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics will organize an event titled “A Molecular Biologist on an Entrepreneurial Journey” in order to bring new perspectives to the development of treatment methods with research on exosomes as well as cancer and stem cells. The event, in which Cellestetix Co-Founder Dr. Merve Yıldırım Canpolat will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 15.00 at Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall in Ataköy building of Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with Orchestra IKU and GSUAM, the "KRONOPOP" concert will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 19.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. The concert consists of a repertoire in which the most popular Turkish Pop songs from the 90s to the present will be performed chronologically. The concert is free and all art lovers are invited.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature will organize a trip to Aşiyan Museum on Friday, May 3, to enable students to take a closer look at the life of Tevfik Fikret.
