In cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of International Trade and Finance and Dış Ticarete Yönverenler Derneği (DIŞYÖNDER), "The 1st Foreign Commerce Summit" was organized on October 18-19, 2023.

The opening speeches of the event, which was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Trade Sezai Uçarmak and our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, were delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Emine Müge Çetiner, Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu, Vice President of the Board of Directors of DIŞYÖNDER Nurdan İzgördü, Vice President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly Ahmet Güleç, and Middle East Vice President of DHL, the main sponsor of the commerce, Burak Ertuna.

Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center hosted the first day of the "The 1st Foreign Commerce Summit" themed "Legacy of the 100th Anniversary in International Trade and Sustainable Future Vision" on Wednesday, October 18.

Özge Bulut Maraşlı, Investment Committee Member of Two Zero Capital Fund and Arya Investment, İlker Özdem, Deputy General Manager of Export, and Taner Yavuz, Deputy General Manager of Eximbank delivered their speeches in the first session titled "Global Trade and the World" moderated by Dr. Hakan Çınar.

Cahit Tosyalı from DHL Türkiye, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Turkish Airlines Air Cargo Transportation Inc. Turhan Öze, and President of CILT Berna Akyıldız delivered their speeches in the "Logistics and Supply Chain Management" session moderated by Dr. Ayşegül Ketenci from the Department of International Trade and Finance.

The third session titled "High Heels in Foreign Trade" was moderated by the Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu. In the session, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Hatemoğlu Füsun Saykı, President of SEDEFED Emine Erdem, Board Member of Tim Melisa Tokgöz Mutlu, and Founder of Dress Best Uniform & Member of KAGİDER Tülin Yazıcı delivered their speeches.

The Founding Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sefamerve Metin Okur, Chairperson of the Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association Erkan Zandar and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Arnica Sennur Biçer contributed with their speeches to the last session, which was moderated by the CEO of Dünya Newspaper Burcu Kösem and titled "Those Who Shape Export.”

The summit ended on Thursday, October 19, after the paper presentations at Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall.

In the international symposium titled "The Republic, Architecture & The City: The Legacy of 100 Years" organized by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Faculty of Architecture on 12-13 October 2023 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, the spatial design history of Türkiye during the Republican era was evaluated. The symposium, which was highlighted by the invited papers of the President of EAAE (European Association for Architectural Education) Prof. Dr. Oya Atalay Franck, Prof. Dr. Sibel Bozdoğan from Boston University and Prof. Dr. Esra Akcan from Cornell University, was followed with interest by academics and students.

In the symposium, which was held under the presidency of Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, and organized by the academics of the Department of Architecture and the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, the evolution of design ideas in different political and economic processes throughout the 100-year history of the Republic of Türkiye was discussed through conferences of invited speakers, paper presentations, panels, exhibitions and workshops in order to provide a better understanding of the past, present and future of the fields of architecture, design and planning in Türkiye.

In this context, workshops based on research in the archives of SALT Galata were held on September 29-30, followed by a panel discussion and exhibition at Istanbul Kültür University on October 11, 2023 with the docomomo_Türkiye team, which aims to document and preserve modern architecture.

On October 12, in a panel moderated by Prof. Dr. Ayhan Usta, renowned architects Melike Altınışık, Emre Arolat, Murat Tabanlıoğlu and Han Tümertekin evaluated the architectural environment in Türkiye in the 21st century.

Legendary artist Genco Erkal's musical theater play “On Living” which tells the story of his passion for Nazım Hikmet, met with art lovers at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Wednesday, October 25th. The play came to life with the great performances of Genco Erkal and Tülay Günal.

In the play, which was accompanied by piano and violoncello, a number of Nazım songs by composers especially Fazıl Say and Zülfü Livaneli were also performed. The play, which mainly depicted the bard's life in Bursa Prison and his devotion to his wife Piraye Hanım, then focused on his years of exile and homesickness, and concluded with impressions from his epic life.

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) became the official media partner of TraMod AWARDS 2023, organized by TraMod ACADEMY.

In the "Professional" and "Student" categories of TraMod AWARDS 2023 built or unbuilt "Architecture", "Interior Design", "Fashion Design" and "Industrial Product Design" projects, where the interaction between tradition and modernity can be seen in the appearance, meaning or interior aspects of the projects will be focused on.

The IKU Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nazif Ekin Akalan, took part in the 3rd Cerebral Palsy Symposium, hosted by Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, as a speaker, where they shared their insight on "Progressive Resistive Exercise Training", "The Effect of Orthosis Application on Walking Biomechanics" and "Interactive Case Discussion Types of Physiotherapy".

An event titled “Urbanism from the Inception to the 100th Anniversary of The Turkish Republic” was held at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Lecturer Dr. Burak Yılmazsoy from Gelişim University Department of Architecture, attended the event as a speaker.

One of our academicians from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Lecturer Dr. Meri Taksi Deveciyan's article titled "The Experiences of New-Starters: Remote Working in The Post-COVID-19 Era" was published in the journal Socioeconomics, which is indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).

The video titled "How was the first day at the Incirli building?" filmed by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Radio and Television Technology Program, is out on the  "Kültür Mushroom" YouTube channel.

Melek Kırdök, Asya Baykara, Gökçe Topaloğlu, Semih Acun, Berfin Orak and Yusuf Alemdar, graduates of IKU Vocational School of Justice, were appointed as clerks in Istanbul Courthouse (Çağlayan), Bakırköy Courthouse, Küçükçekmece Courthouse and Bandırma Courthouse of the Ministry of Justice. Prof. Dr. Durmuş Tezcan, Director of the Vocational School of Justice, organized a lunch program on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 for our graduates who have just started their new positions.

After the lunch, which was attended by Deputy Director of the Vocational School of Justice Assist. Prof. İdris Güzel, Assist. Prof. Sakine Nilüfer Bilgin, Lecturer Gülendam Sadi Zevzir and Administrative Secretary Fatma Aslım Haşlamacıoğlu, a meeting was held to receive the opinions of our graduates and students.

The Head of the IKU Department of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Serdar Erkan gave a speech titled "Academic Imperialism" at the 4th Educational Research Congress organized by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University on 19-20 October 2023.

The Head of IKU Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program Lecturer Emin Aksan and Yalçın Yıldırım, a student of the Opticianry Program and Vice President of the Association of All Optical and Optometric Professions, presented their paper titled "Why Should One Be an Expert Optician / Optometrist in Türkiye: A Research" at the "6th International and 16th National Health and Hospital Administration Congress”.

Tourism and Hotel Management Program organized an educational trip to Galataport on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. After the training by Galataport Port General Manager Figen Ayan on "Cruise Transportation and Marinas", a visit was paid to the customs areas. During the event, a historical and touristic tour was also organized led by Professional Tourist Guide Alim Yavuz Kocabıyık.

Assist. Prof. Sevil Momeni Shabani from the IKU Department of Educational Sciences presented their paper titled "Technology and Psychological Counselling: An In-depth Review" at the 11th University Psychological Counselling and Guidance Symposium held in Eskişehir.

As part of the technical trip organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, the students and the faculty visited Demirören Media Group.

At the event held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, CNN Türk News Director İdris Arıkan shared their insight on the working atmosphere of journalism and CNN Türk News Reporter Fulya Öztürk shared their professional experiences with the students.

"Digital Communication Academy Young Communicators School", organized with the joint efforts of Kültür Point and the Department of New Media and Communication, held its second lecture with the Brandfocus Agency President Tülin Çeneli Dönmez.

The training, in which students conducted case studies, was concluded with question-answer segment and intellectual discussions.

Kültür Point will organize "Job Readiness Trainings" to support students' career planning processes. The training to be held on Monday, October 30th through CATS will be titled "Creating a CV and Career Resources."

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is bringing Dr. Furkan Öztürk from Harvard University together with our students. The event, where Öztürk will interactively discuss his work in his field with students, will be held on Monday, October 30th at 11:00 am at the Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall on our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of International Relations will organize an event titled "The Fourth Power Media: Journalism from Local to Global" will be organized. The event, where Seda Türkoğlu from Hürriyet Newspaper will be a speaker, will be held on Monday, October 30 at 13.00 at Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall.

IKU Faculty of Science and Letters will organize a program titled "Fahamettin Akıngüç in Education in the 100th Year of the Founding of the Republic" on Monday, October 30 at 14.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center as part of the "100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Republic Celebrations." The opening speeches of the event, which will be held in honor of our Honorary Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Civil Engineer Msc Fahamettin Akıngüç, will be delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver.

Kültür Point will organize "Turkish Sign Language Training" to raise awareness about the deaf and hearing impaired people in society and to contribute to the personal and professional development of our students. The training, which will be given by instructor Eser Dalyan, will be held on 30-31 October 2023 between 15.00-18.00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

A conversation titled "Success in Customer Service" will be held by the Program of E-Commerce and Marketing in order to inform students about customer relationship practises. The event, where GETIR Customer Relations Manager Sibel Temirci will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, October 31 at 15.00 in the classroom numbered 4A-01 in our Bakırköy campus İncirli building.

In cooperation with Kültür Point and the Department of Foreign Languages, "Business English Training" will be organized for our students and graduates through CATS on Wednesday, November 1st.

"High Technology and Digitalisation, Opportunities Created for SMEs" themed "11. SMEs and Productivity Congress" will be held by By Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Business Administration. The congress, where the problems of SMEs operating in Türkiye will be discussed, will be held on 1-2 November 2023 at 09.45 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre.

The Industrial Engineering Club will organise an event titled "Department Introductions" in order to inform the students about the sector. The event, where experts in the field will be speakers, will be held on Wednesday, November 1 at 13.00 at the B1-3 amphitheatre in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Kültür Point will organize “Turkish Sign Language Training” in order to raise awareness about deaf and hearing-impaired people in the society and to contribute to the personal and professional development of our students. The training, which will be given by trainer Eser Dalyan, will be held on 1-2 November 2023 between 15.00-18.00 in the classroom numbered 2A-08 on our Bakırköy campus İncirli building.

Kültür Point will organise the "Etiquette Workshop" in order to support the learning of etiquette rules that must be followed in the society and making it a way of life. The training, which will be given by trainer Güneş Tulga under the title of "Table Manners", will be held on Wednesday, November 1, between 15.00-18.00 in the 6th floor dining area in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Kültür Point will organize "Diction and Effective Body Language Training" in order for the participants to speak Turkish effectively and use body language correctly. The training, which will be given by Özlem Berkit, will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, between 15.00-18.00 at the 2nd floor multi-purpose hall on our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Within the scope of the "Space Knowledge" course given in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, an event will be held where the design and application process will be explained through interior architecture examples applied by the practitioners in the sector. The event, in which one of the founders of ÇAĞAL+TAŞDELEN Interior Architecture and Design Office Lect. Assist. Dr. Damla Çağal Taşdelen will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 13.00 in the ground floor seminar hall in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Kültür Point will organise "Addictive Relationships Addicted Personalities Workshop” to inform participants about addiction. The fourth of the training to be given by Psychologist Dr. Serap Duygulu, titled "Relationships with Objects", will be held on Thursday, November 1, between 15.00-18.00, in the Seminar 2 hall in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

Kültür Point will organise a technical trip to FLO company on Friday, November 3, between 10.00-16.00 in order to support career planning processes of the students. Within the scope of the event, FLO Regional Sales Manager Burak Akyüz, one of our graduates, will be visited.

An introductory seminar will be held to inform students about the services provided at Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Guidance and Psychological Counselling Application and Research Centre. The event, where Clinical Psychologist Simge Göral will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, November 3 at 11:00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. 

In cooperation with the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and the Interior Architecture and Design Club, a meeting event will be held in the backyard of Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Friday, November 3 at 11:00 in order to enable students to mingle with academicians and other student friends.
