Emine Avcu, student of İstanbul Kültür University Vocational School Public Relations and Promotion Program, made us proud with her degrees in the "International Paralympic National Swimming Competition" held in Minsk, the Capital of Belarus. Avcu won the silver medal by coming third in the 50 meters butterfly style, third in the bronze style, 200 meters in the mixed style and 100 meters in the breaststroke. We congratulate Emine Avcu as the Family of Culture and wish her continued success.

The play named “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme”, written by Moliere, made by Arda Öztürk, and adapted by Theater-Diction Trainer İlknur Güneş, was staged for the second time by the graduates of Istanbul Kültür University in Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Monday (February 24th).

The play, as a subject of fate, is a man who was born as a bourgeois, learning the politeness and learning to be a noble class, taking strange enthusiasm, taking lessons for music, dance, sword, philosophy, and falling into ridiculous situations because of his curiosity and nobility.

Department of Architecture, with the "MIM0803 Workshop III" (Turkish Program) conducted by Lecturer Tülin Barutçular and with the "ARC0803 Workshop III" (English Program) course given by Assist. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, it organized two separate seminars titled "Waterproofing in Buildings" and "Waterproofing". BTM Bitümlü Tecrit Maddeler San. and Tic A.Ş. Technical Consultant Civil Engineer Jozef Bonfil joined as a speaker. The seminars; It is observed in Turkey and in the world construction safety standards required by waterproofing, waterproofing materials were given information about different alternatives and application principles to be used in construction.

The Department of Economics organized a panel titled "Goodness and Health Economics" in our Basın Ekspres- campus on Tuesday, February 25 within the context of “Kültür Economy Talks”. MYC Partners Chairman Dr. Murat Akdogan was the speaker at the event. Akdoğan discussed the depth of the relationship between management problems with the increasing number of concordat in Turkey. Stressing that the lack of entrepreneurs in Turkey Akdogan, lack of management awareness is the main difference between leader entrepreneurs and manager entrepreneurs. Akdoğan also informed our students about the relationship between good resource management, financial information and cash flows.

Eda Koca, Sedef Biricik and Büşra Küçük, our 2nd year students from IKU Vocational School (MYO) Fashion Design Program, and Kardelen Çetin, among our graduates, were among the 10 finalists in the Inter-University Design Competition. In the competition organized by Louren brand on January 30, 2020; our student Sedef Biricik came in first and our graduate Kardelen Çetin came in third.

Çağlar Solmaz, Chairman of the Board of Louren and Solmazlar Group, was hosted by Duayen Fashion Designer Yıldırım Mayruk, Choreographer and Style Consultant Fatih Ömercikoğlu and academicians of the Fashion Design Department of many universities. Prize money was given to the first 3 finalists. Honor plaques were presented to our teacher, Serpil Aymaz, with Yıldırım Mayruk at the event.

A mixed ceramic and glass exhibition, titled “Bir Arada” designed by Prof. Dr. Emre Feyzoğlu, Head of Ceramics Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts, and who is working in all ceramic and glass departments within the scope of “social responsibility awareness”, at Ankara Contemporary Arts Center Füreya Koral Hall between 19-24 February. The income of the exhibition, which consists of 233 faculty members from 53 universities, including Instructor Alev Oskay, one of our lecturers, and 16 honorary guests, will be given as a scholarship to students in need at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

IKU Steam Club organized a conference entitled "Entrepreneurship and Leadership" at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Friday, February 21, 2020 to raise awareness among students. Hilal Suerdem, CEO of Kiğılı, who attended the event as a speaker, informed our students about professional leadership, entrepreneurship and the importance of foreign language.

A seminar titled “What is Disaster and Emergency Management? What is it?” was organised by İTÜ AFAD Coordinator, Research Assistant Fatih Yaman. Yaman also participated as a speaker to the event which held in Basın Ekspres campus, informed our students of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on Disaster and Emergency Management.

Sectoral cooperation agreement was signed between IKU Vocational School Public Relations and Publicity Program and Brandistanbul PR. Within the scope of the signed protocol; Internship, seminar and job opportunities will be offered to our students in areas such as perception and reputation management, financial communication, health communication, agenda and content management, social media content and concept consultancy.

CHEP HRBR Manager Nursel Akın and CHEP Integrated Marketing Manager Elif Ceren Kurtuldu took part in the Sector Seminars-II event held on Thursday, February 20 within the scope of the Supply Chain Management and Its Strategies course by Engin Gökgöz, one of the lecturers of the International Trade Department.

Radio and Television Technology Program hosted Hakan Körezli, the Cinematographer of “Arka Sokaklar”, at our university. Körezli, who conveyed his knowledge and experience in the event held at RTV Studio on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, answered the questions of our students by talking about how the cinematographer should be in TV series and movies.

İKÜ Career Club will organize the gala night “4. Career Honorary Awards”. The ceremony, which aims to help a different social responsibility project or non-governmental organization every year, will be dedicated to Tohum Autism Foundation this year. The Akıngüç Auditorium and the Arts Center will host the “Career Honorary Awards” event, which is the biggest income-generating aid activity organized by a student club, and the only award night in this model, on Monday, March 16th between 19.00-23.00. At the same time, Gripin will be at the end of the night with art lovers.

İstanbul Kültür University Faculty of Health Sciences will organize "Nutrition Days in Kültür-III Nutrition in Culture: Metabolic Syndrome and Probiotics Symposium", in which the scientists who are experts in their fields will provide solution-oriented contributions to the problems encountered in current and professional practices in the thematic areas of "Metabolic Syndrome and Probiotics". The symposium, which will be held for the third time this year, will be hosted by the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on February 28-29, 2020, between 09.00-17.00.

In collaboration with the Women and Social Research Unit (IKU-KAD) and the Gender Equality Club will organize a conversation titled “Unhappy Diet Women” will be held in order to examine the weight obsessions and unconscious eating habits of the young girls and inform the students. The event, where dietician Elvan Odabaşı will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Thursday, March 5th between 11.00-13.00.

In cooperation with the Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) and the Gender Equality Club, will organize an interview titled “Women's Rights with Historical and Legal Dimensions” will be held within the framework of the historical process, which will be discussed with the legal dimension of women. The event, where CEHAMER Women's Studies Section President & International Lawyers Federation Women's Vice President Ayşen Önen will be a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, March 3, between 13.00-14.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

In cooperation with the Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) and the Gender Equality Club, a panel on “Psychological Effects of Violence Against Women” will be organized to prevent the negative effects that arise in line with the violence against women. The event, where Nobel Central Nervous System Department Manager Duygu Üstel and Prof. Dr. Neurologist Demet Özbabalık Adapınar will be speakers will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Wednesday, March 4, between 13.00-14.15.

The Economics Department will organize the documentary “İktisatçı(Economist)” to introduce the profession to the students. The Press Express campus Seminar Hall will be hosted on Monday, March 2, between 13.30-16.30, with an interview with Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Kaya from Gelişim University, the director of the documentary after the screening.

The Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club will organize the “Successful Women Summit” in order to share the challenges and experiences of successful business women in professional life with students within the scope of “8 March International Women's Day”. Portfolio Manager Nil Madi, Portfolio Manager Belgin Maviş, Entrepreneur Selen Yorgun, Successful Businesswomen Platform (BİKAP) Founder Bilge Kuru, Glories Chocolate Founder Özge Yücesoy and Theater Player Müjdat Gezen will be speakers, Önder Öztunalı Conference on Friday, March 6 between 11.00-17.00 To be held in the hall.

IKU Kültür Point continues to organize “New Generation Parenting and Communication with New Generation Children with Serap Duygulu”, where different topics are discussed with Trainer Serap Duygulu every week. The event is organised especially to Psychological Counseling and Guidance students and also it is open for every parent, children, educator from every level. The event will take place on Monday, March 2, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall between 18.00-21.00.

Communication Design Department will organize “Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Training” to introduce BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve color correction program and new BlackMagic cameras to our students and industry users, of which MediaCast is the distributor. The training to be given to our students on Thursday, March 5 and for the sector representatives on Friday, March 6, by BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve Specialist Alper Camadan, will be held in the backyard of Ataköy campus between 09.00-20.00.

I was known for my fondness for animals at a younger age in Bakırköy, where I spent my childhood and elementary years. Having completed my higher education at Istanbul University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine between 1981 and 1986, and becoming a vet did not surprise my family and those around me. However, I can say that perhaps I continued to pursue my career in this direction by not choosing the clinical area but rather food hygiene and technology, which is a field of the Veterinary Medicine profession, which attracted my attention during my education, this perhaps help me became a member of  Istanbul Kültür University family. Throughout my academic career at Istanbul University, I have been involved in food microbiology and food safety, which are also part of my PhD studies. After PhD, for 3 years I worked on food science at Louisiana State University labs and New Orleans Central Analytical Laboratories. I have been involved in more national and international cooperation projects. Between 2007-2009, I worked as a National Expert at the European Union Joint Research Center. Retired from Istanbul University in October 2019, I joined the family of Istanbul Kültür University.
