A visit was organized to the relevant institution for discussions on educational, social and cultural activities for the detainees in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison & Education Center, which is planned to be carried out as a social responsibility project with the participation of various faculties of our university, coordinated by IKU Dean of Students' Office.

A large team consisting of IKU Dean of Students Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, Vice Deans Assist. Prof. Tuğba Özışık, Doğa Kurtyiğit, Vice Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Assist. Prof. Pelin Baltacı, Head of Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Prof. Dr. Burcu Semin Akel, Head of the Department of Nursing Assist. Prof. Mukaddes Turan Miral, Head of the Department of Arts and Culture Management Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ, Sports Coordinator Assist. Prof. İsmail Çakıt, Psychology Club member and Department of Psychology student Ece Ergin attended the event and discussed the details of the planning.

Training sessions will be conducted following the signing of a protocol between the two institutions.

The “Introduction of the Grant Support Program for University Student Clubs and Societies” event was organized by the IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) to encourage our associate and undergraduate students to apply for grant support programs for university students.

As part of the event held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy Building on the Bakırköy Campus, TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B, TEKNOFEST University Student Research Project Competitions, and the University Student Societies Cooperation and Support Program (UNIDES) were introduced. Participants received comprehensive information about the importance of applying to these programs, the call process, and available application opportunities. Throughout the event, questions from participants across different departments and clubs were carefully addressed, and detailed explanations were provided.

Hosted by Istanbul Kültür University, the "6th International Interdisciplinary Chaos Symposium on Chaos and Complex Systems (SCCS2025)" will be held between May 8-10, 2025.

The international symposium, which will be organized with an interdisciplinary approach, aims to bring together current research on chaos theory and complex systems in different academic fields. The full-text papers presented as part of the symposium will be published will be published by Springer under the title Proceedings of SCCS 2025 in the Springer Proceedings in Complexity series.

The documentary film “Things I Learned at the Age of 30”, directed by Res. Assist. Sezer Ağgez, one of our academicians from the Department of Communication and Design, was awarded the “Best Documentary Film Award” in the National Short Film and Documentary Competition organized for the 45th time this year by IFSAK, one of Türkiye’s longest-established associations.

The Gender Equality Club organized a panel talk titled "Free Space: Discover Yourself, Share Your Idea" to explore challenges related to gender equality and provide a safe space for individuals to express themselves. The event, which presented ideas for addressing current gender equality issues and discussed solutions from different perspectives, was held on Thursday, March 20, at the 3rd floor multipurpose hall of the Ataköy Building, Bakırköy Campus.

The “Ground Slot Tracking” training, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, was held at the IKU Vocational School on Saturday, March 22. The training, conducted by Lecturer Evren Yılmaz, Head of the Program of Flight Operations Management, provided students with valuable insights into the tracking and management of ground slots in aviation operations, enhancing their industry-related competencies.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized the “Energy Markets and Electricity Grid Functioning Simulation Seminar” on Thursday, March 20, with Business Development Manager Ali Hakan Everekli as the speaker.

IKU Vocational School held an event titled "Digital Transformation and Global Trade: On Entrepreneurship" on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 in Room 1A01 of the İncirli Building on the Bakırköy Campus. At the event, where the Head of our Department of Entrepreneurship, Assist. Prof. Artür Yetvart Mumcu, was the speaker, the importance of digital transformation, global trade, and the concepts of entrepreneurship and start-ups were discussed.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a technical trip to Deka Elektronik A.Ş. on March 14, 2025. As part of the trip, practical studies related to the “Industrial Instrumentation and Design” course, offered in the Spring Semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, were conducted at Deka Elektronik A.Ş.

The IKU Philosophy Club organized an event titled "Questioning Reality" on Monday, March 17, 2025 in the multipurpose hall on the third floor of the Ataköy Building, Bakırköy Campus. The event, held with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Selda Salman Sakızlı, Advisor of the Club and Head of the Department of Common Courses, explored the impact of perceptions, beliefs, and the limitations of knowledge on philosophical foundations.

A cooperation meeting was held between IKU Vocational School and Opmar Optik to enable our students of the Program of Opticianry to take stronger steps in the sector.

With this cooperation, we aim to open new doors for our students in terms of internship and employment.

Ege University Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of American Culture and Literature hosted the 13th “International Undergraduate Symposium” with the theme “Meta” on March 17-18, 2025.

At the symposium where 42 participants made their oral presentations, 7 students from the Istanbul Kültür University Department of English Language and Literature successfully represented our university.

We congratulate our students who carried out studies on metafictional texts in literature and cinema with the joint efforts of the Department of English Language and Literature and the English Literature Society.

The Program of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology hosted Vatbuz Smart Air Conditioning Systems Inc. Production Manager Cem Arslan and Export Sales Engineer Ali Çetin at our university on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The officials informed our students about developments in the refrigeration sector and also provided information on internship and job opportunities at Vatbuz.

The first of the meetings with the faculty members of our Department of English Language and Literature, organized by the English Literature Society, the official student society of our Department of English Language and Literature, was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 15:00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy Building on the Bakırköy Campus. Our Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Assist. Prof. Ayşegül Turan, participated in the event as the speaker and gave a speech titled "Why Do We Read Crime Fiction?"

Deputy Head of the Department of Common Courses Assist. Prof. Yakup Türkdil’s article titled “On the Hydronyms of Kazakhstan/Kyzylorda” was published in the Journal of Language and Literature Studies. Assist. Prof. Yakup Türkdil’s article examines the hydronyms in the Kyzylorda province of Kazakhstan. The article includes first a thematical categorization of hydronyms, then the analysis of the reasons why these names were preferred and how they were assigned.

The Department of Digital Game Design will organize an event titled "Game Engines" to introduce different game engines commonly used in game development. The event, where Lecturer Onur Kalkan from Bahçeşehir University will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 in the 1B/12-14 amphitheater in the Ataköy Building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation will organize the "Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Seminar in Multiple Sclerosis" to provide students with up-to-date information and approaches specific to the disease Multiple Sclerosis and its rehabilitation. The event, where Lecturer Gamze Ertürk Uzunoğlu from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 14:00 in the amphitheatre on the B2 floor of Block C on the Bahçelievler Campus.

As part of the "61st Library Week Celebrations," the Department of Library and Documentation will organize "Story Workshops" on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 14:00-16.00 at the library on the B-1 floor of the Ataköy Building on the Bakırköy Campus. In the workshop titled "From Visual to Text," which focuses on revealing the power of words through visuals, students will examine nine provided visuals and write a story based on their associations with the visuals.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will organize a talk titled “Dietetics in a European Country: Profession, Education and Practice in Portugal” to support students' career planning processes. The event, featuring Assist. Prof. Rui Jorge from the School of Health Sciences, Polytechnic University of Leiria as a speaker will be held on Tuesday, April 8, at 14.00 in the B1 seminar hall of the Bahçelievler campus.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature will organize a trip on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, to introduce students to the historical significance of the Tulip Garden in Emirgan Grove.

The Department of Library and Documentation will organize a panel talk titled “Reading Culture and Publishing,” moderated by Lecturer İsa Kocakaplan from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, as part of the “61st Library Week Celebrations.” The event, where Cem Alpan, Editor at Yapı Kredi Publications, will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the Design Factory at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of Digital Game Design will organize “Game Talks: Intro to FRP” event to explain the elements of Fantasy Role Playing (FRP) and teach how to play FRP games. The event, where Airties Research Director Mehmet Şükrü Kuran will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, April 10, at 13.00 in classroom 1C/11-13 of the Ataköy Building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Educational Sciences will organize a workshop titled “Developing Creativity in Children: Synectics and Compulsory Association” to support the professional development of the graduates of the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counselling. Assist. Prof. Sevil Momeni Shabani, one of our academicians from the Department of Educational Sciences, will be the speaker at the event, which will be held on Thursday, April 10, between 15.00-19.00 at the 1st floor multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The opening ceremony of the “Energy School for Women Project”, which will be organized within the scope of the “Women’s Energy Türkiye’s Energy” project implemented in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University, the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Republic of Türkiye, and REGES Electricity, will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 16.00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Fine Arts Application and Research Centre (GSUAM) will be presenting the theatre play “Küçük Balkon” to art lovers. “Küçük Balkon”, one of the newest theatre plays of the season, written and directed by Can Kılcıoğlu, and starring Vildan Atasever, Nazlı Senem Ünal and Deniz Karaoğlu, will be staged on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 20.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.
