Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center hosted world-famous composer and pianist Fazıl Say on Monday, April 24. Fazıl Say gave an unforgettable night to art lovers at the concert organized by the Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM). In the concert, Say also included the last two great sonatas of M. Schubert which he composed just before his death. 

The international patent application of the study titled “A Textile Product Containing Phase Change Material and a Method for Obtaining Thereof” led by Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer, one of the academicians of the Department of Civil Engineering, has been accepted and a document decision has been made for entry into the UK. The study, which received a national patent in July 2022, aims to obtain a textile product containing a phase change material that performs dynamic heat management thanks to nanofiber networks that can heat management in low, normal, or high-temperature regions.

In cooperation with the Department of Entrepreneurship and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), a panel titled "Turkish Entrepreneurs' Journey to America: Entrepreneurship Opportunities in America" was held at the Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall on Wednesday, April 26. Bukulmez Legal PLLC Founder and Marketing and Management Professor Helen Bükülmez, Michigan Honorary Consul General Nurten Ural, ICG Chairperson of the Board Dr. Yavuz Selim Sılay and Beykent University TTO Director Dr. Ali Kurt participated as panellists to the event moderated by Technology Transfer & University-Industry Collaboration Specialist Yasin Şahin. At the end of the event, plates were presented to the panellists by our Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Emine Müge Çetiner and Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship Assist. Prof. Nazan Çağlar.

The "DNA Day", which is celebrated on April 25 every year, dedicated to the discovery of the double helix of DNA in 1953 and the completion of the "Human Genome Project" in 2003, was celebrated this year with activities organized by the students of IKU Department of Molecular Biology Genetics (MOBIGEN). Our students celebrated "DNA Day" by presenting brochures, bookmarks, pictures, badges, and food they made with their own efforts within our university.

A seminar titled “The Ethics of Online Journalism ” was held by the Department of New Media and Communications on Wednesday, April 26.  Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof.  Dr.  Süleyman İrvan attended the seminar held virtually on Microsoft Teams as the speaker.  In the seminar, ethical dilemmas and the underlying causes in online journalism were discussed by taking a look at certain examples.

Lecturer Evren Yılmaz from the Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO) Flight Operations Management Program, gave FUGO Ground Handling, one of our industry partners , training on "Load Control, Balance and Communication" approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.

The "Kültür Alumni Dinner" event will be organized by the Istanbul Kültür University Alumni and Members Association (IKÜMED) as part of the 25th Anniversary of our University and the 100th Anniversary of our Republic. The event, where one of the academicians of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Iskender Pala will give a speech titled "Loyalty and Values", will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 19.00, at the Kültür College Alumni Association Club.

A conference titled "Future'23" will be organized by the Industrial Engineering Club to help aid the career planning process of our students.  The event, in which Caffe Nero CEO Ahmet Yanıkoğlu, Dyson General Manager Mete Uslukılınç, Yavuz Ölken from Axa Sigorta and Sibel Kara Yıldız from Philips Healthcare will participate as speakers, will be held on Tuesday, May 2, between 08.00-17.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre.

A training titled "Project Cycle Management (PCM) Training" will be organized by the IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) in order to help further the knowledge and skills of the participants in the domain of project design and management.  The training, given by Technology Transfer Office Manager Cüneyt Genç, will be held on 2-3 May 2023 between 09.30-16.30 at the Design Factory in our Ataköy campus.

The Department of Psychology will organize a conference titled "Is Violence Aggression?" to inform lecturers and students about different perspectives of aggression and to discuss the connection between these perspectives and violence. The event, where Prof. Dr. Ertan Kardeş from Istanbul University, Department of Philosophy will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 15.00 at the 4th floor multi-purpose hall.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club, New Media and Communication Club, Department of New Media and Communication and Department of Communication Arts, an interview titled "Social Commerce 101: Ways to Develop E-Commerce Mindset" will be held to inform students about customer expectations and the attitude of brands in today's digitalized world. The event, where Cool Card Co-Founder & Savings.co Founder Cahit Cihat Yıldırım will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 20.00 on CATS.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will organize the "Career Days" event for our graduates to share their career journeys with our students. The event will be held on 3 May 2023 at Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Law and CEHAMER, a conference titled "Constitutional Treaties and ECHR Principles in the Shaping of Criminal Law" will be organized. The event, where Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Gerhard Dannecker from Heidelberg University (Germany) Faculty of Law will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 10.00 on the 6th floor Twin Hall of the Faculty of Law.

The "Aviation Summit 2" event will be held in cooperation with the Vocational School (MYO) and the Civil Aviation Club to support the career planning processes of our students. The event, in which important stakeholders of the aviation industry will be speakers, will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at 11:00, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

A conference titled "Nudding Personality and Law" will be organized by the Faculty of Law. The event, in which Prof.Dr.Dr.h.c.Helmut Goerlich from Germany Leipzig University Faculty of Law will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 11:00 in the 6th Floor Twin Hall of the Faculty of Law.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the Türkiye Patent Movement Platform/Association, a workshop titled "Past, Present and the Future of Earthquake Technologies" will be held within the scope of 26 April World Intellectual Property Day and Patent Week. The event, where Turkish Patent Action Association officials will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, May 4, between 14.00-18.00, in the 2nd floor multi-purpose hall of our Ataköy campus.

İKÜ Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with the people of Kültür and art lovers. In the event to be organized by GSUAM, Golden Horn Brass, Türkiye’s first and longest-running brass quintet, will meet with music lovers on Thursday, May 4 at 19.00 at IKU Akıngüç Stage.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club, New Media and Communication Club, Department of New Media and Communication and Department of Communication Arts, a talk titled "A Realistic Perspective to the Metaverse" will be held in which the expectations of customers in today's digitalized world and the attitudes of brands in this area will be discussed. The event, in which HAVAŞ Istanbul CEO Dr. Cüneyt Devrim will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, May 5, at 14.00, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Kültür Point will organize the "Diction and Etiquette Training" to teach the rules of etiquette and courtesy so that the participants may apply them to all areas of life and by making sure to learn to speak Turkish properly. The training, which will be given by Özcan Tekdemir, will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, between 15.00-18.00, on the CATS Platform.
