Career Club hosted Hasan Can Kaya, the host of Talkers, one of the most popular talk show programs of recent times, at our university. The famous comedian, who met with our students at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Monday, April 25, answered the curious questions. 

Hasan Can Kaya, who talked to the students about his career and future plans, was also asked questions in the format of the "Konuşanlar" program. When asked what is your biggest fantasy, Kaya replied, “My biggest professional fantasy is to do stand-up in English.” gave the answer.

The famous comedian, who also received the plaque of the "Konuşanlar" program, which was awarded in the category of "The Most Admired Talk Show Program of the Year" at the "Career Honorary Awards" held by our university, gave his fans moments of laughter when he filled the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) hosted the Anatolian Wind Quintet, which introduced the listeners to the most popular blown quintet pieces of the music repertoire, with its project titled "Del Mundo". The Anatolian Wind Quintet, consisting of Cem Önertürk, Ufuk Soygürbüz, Kıvanç Fındıklı, Ozan Evruk and Hüseyin Uçar, met the audience on Thursday, April 28 at 19.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

The ensemble received great acclaim from art lovers with its special tones of France, unique melodies permeated all over Anatolia, and an interesting repertoire composed of their own music from the Balkans.

Prof. Sinan Kesici, Board of Trustees Advisor Ender Rıza Ekici, Head of Department of Construction and Technical Mehmet Yücesan, Software Development and Innovation Project Academic Coordinator Assist. Prof. Gabriela Oana Olaru conveyed the details of the realized project at the meeting held with the participation of its Director Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay and Mehmet Emre Arslan.

After the presentation by Assist. Prof. Gabriela Oana Olaru, besides the general objectives of the project, the structure of the advisory board, which is planned to consist of academicians, and the determination and assignment of academic representatives were discussed.

Within the scope of the Design Factory project; 100 students from 14 departments involved in the creative industries will be trained through master-apprentice relationships, and 50 students who have ideas about entrepreneurship will be supported to develop projects within the scope of creative entrepreneurship.

Istanbul Kültür University "Aviation Summit" was held in Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in cooperation with Vocational School Aviation Programs and Aviation Club.

To the Aviation Summit, where the aviation industry and students showed great interest; HAVAŞ General Manager Mete Erna, CELEBI Ground Services West Regional Manager Aylin Çelik, LEBANON Airlines Turkey General Manager Nesrin Sander, Turkish Airlines Customer Experience Vice President Mustafa Mücahitoğlu, CELEBI Ground Services Human Resources Director Gökçen Dervişoğlu and Lufthansa Airlines Technical Manager Emre Akkanat attended as a speaker.

The Civil Aviation Ground Training certificate competencies obtained by Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Aviation Programs as a result of recent studies, their accreditations, education-training practices and their plans for the future of the sector were highly appreciated by the leading companies of the aviation industry.

In the first session of the Aviation Summit, moderated by Assist Prof H Neyir Tekeli and Lecturer Evren Yılmaz; Within the scope of university-industry collaborations, the sectoral crisis experienced during the pandemic period and the measures taken in this period were evaluated, and the "2023 Perspective IATA Report" was emphasized. In addition, the sector's demands for the employment of newly trained and competent youth in the "Civil Aviation" sector were emphasized. In the second session of the summit, within the scope of "Applied Education Framework Regulation in Higher Education" for "Applied Vocational Education in Universities"; Vocational training in the workplace, internship and post-internship employment, the importance of university-industry cooperation, refresher trainings during working periods in the aviation sector and the sustainability of trainings were discussed.

The Aviation Summit, where the basic inputs for the trainings that will provide our students with competence were evaluated, ended with the wishes of the university-aviation industry to continue mutual goodwill and cooperation. Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Director Assist Prof Sinan Kesici presented a plaque to the representatives of the leading companies of the aviation industry participating in the summit, and the introductory and competency documents related to the Vocational School Aviation Programs were presented.

The "IKU Career Days 22" event was held on April 20-21, 2022, in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Student Life, Career and Alumni Counseling Unit (Culture Point) and IMM Bahçelievler Regional Employment Office. The event hosted by our Ataköy campus was held in the backyard on the first day and on the B1 floor stand area on the second day with the participation of approximately twenty companies. At the "IKU Career Days 22" event, where industry-leading brands such as Greyder, Kale Yapı, Figes A.Ş., İş Bankası, Big Chefs, The Purest Solutions took part, our student clubs also had the opportunity to introduce themselves and establish communication networks by opening stands. İBB Bahçelievler Regional Employment Office provided free career counseling to our students. Istanbul Kültür University Alumni and Members Association (İKÜMED) accompanied the participants and students with DJ Performance throughout the event. Approximately 200 of our students provided access to career opportunities by filling out the job-internship application forms presented to them at the stands as part of the two-day event.

Within the scope of the symposium themed “Architectural Episodes 02: New Dialogues in Architectural Education and Practice” organized by IKU Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture, a workshop titled “Muğla Transcripts in/on Disasters: Forest Fires 2021” was organized in cooperation with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture students. The workshop, in which Prof. Dr. Emel Birer and Assist. Prof. Esin Hasgül from İstanbul Kültür University, Assoc. Prof. Öncü Başdoğan Avşar from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Assist. Prof. İlke Tekin, Dr. Fulya Pelin Cengizoğlu Başaran, Res. Assist. Hüseyin Furkan Balcı and Res. Assist. Mihriban Duman partcipated as the coordinator, was held on March 5-6, 2022 simultaneously in Istanbul and Muğla. In the first stage of the workshop; an online panel was held on March 5, 2022, in which presentations on the content of the workshop were held, and evaluations on climate change were made in the panel. In line with the information obtained from the panel with the students, a face-to-face workshop process was conducted on March 6, 2022 and infographic productions were made on the subject. Workshop results were presented and discussed at the symposium. The opening of the third of the exhibition, which will include the projects obtained as a result of the workshop, held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 18.00 at the entrance floor exhibition hall of the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, Istanbul Metropolitan Branch. The exhibition will be visited until May, 8, 2022.

One of the academicians of the Department of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Evrim Özkan visited the IPA Florya Campus with the students as the invitation of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) within the scope of #IPAders. During the trip held on Thursday, April 21, Prof. Dr. Özkan talked about the urban transformation processes carried out in shantytowns in the context of the Sarıgöl-Yenidoğan example, accompanied by the findings of the TÜBİTAK Project, which she is the executive of. After the presentation by the IPA official on the organizational and spatial structure in IPA, our students toured the campus.

“DNA Day”, which is celebrated on April 25 every year, was celebrated this year with events organized in cooperation with the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and the IEEE Club. As part of the event, Günseli Bayram Akçapınar from Acıbadem University Department of Medical Biotechnology made a presentation titled "The Black Lady of DNA: Rosalind Franklin". In addition, MOBIGEN students contributed to raising awareness about the importance of DNA Day with DNA models, posters, presentations and foods with DNA figures they prepared.

A sectoral cooperation agreement was signed between Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Program of Tourism and Hotel Management and Hyatt Regency Atakoy Hotel. A seminar titled "Metal Facade Systems" simultaneously in English and Turkish on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, within the scope of "ARC4020 Building Science III" and "MIM4020 Building Science III" courses conducted by Assist Prof Gamze Alptekin and Assoc Prof Erkan Avlar at IKU Department of Architecture. In the seminar given by Architect Gökhan Algan from ESKA Metal, students were informed about facade systems and material samples were introduced.

On Wednesday, April 28, Cangezi Founder İlker Horozcu was the guest of the "Tourism Economics" course given by Lecturer Raif Bakova, an academician from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Head of Program of Business Management, Lecturer Dr. N. Gözde Bircan, worked as a visiting lecturer at Erasmus+ KA131 European Countries Staff Teaching Mobility and Baden Wüerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW)-Loerrach in Germany within the scope of the 2019-2020 Project Term.

Gözde Bircan gave face-to-face lectures on "International Financial Reporting and Accounting Standards Conceptual Framework", "TAS-1 Standard for Presentation of Financial Statements" and online courses on "TAS-2 Stocks Standard" for international students during the mobility held between 18-22 April 2022.

A conversation titled “Current Health Indicators with Examples in the Metropolitan Area” was held in cooperation with the IKU Health Club and the Program of Medical Documentation and Secretariat. Tuğba Sönal from Ataşehir District Health Directorate Health Promotion Unit was the guest of the event, which was moderated by Health Club Consultant Lecturer Canan Bulut Korkmaz and with the participation of Program of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Head Lecturer Zehra Kaşka Üreten. Sönal, who talked about the importance of health indicators and commented on current data at the event, also answered the questions of our students.

IKU Vocational School Program of Tourism and Hotel Management, together with Clarion Hotel Mahmutbey Quality Manager Cansu Ekmekçi Uğur, provided training on the creation, implementation, supervision and sustainability of quality management systems in hotels.

The article titled “The Culture Industry and Transformation of the Value of Hope” by Selda Salman, one of our academicians from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, is published in the 32nd edition of Kultura i Wartości (Culture and Values) magazine, which has been published by Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Poland since 2013. published in the issue. The article, which deals with the position of hope, which is of central importance for human life, in the contemporary digital world, points out how this notion, which should have a creative and transformative effect, has become passive and negative, and the loss of hope.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO) Program of Radio and TV Technology students visited Istanbul Cinema Museum under the supervision of Lecturer Selin Okumus, the Head of the Program, and Lecturer Furkan Erkoç, one of our academics. Kültür Point will organize the "Thought and Idea Generating Workshop". The workshop, which will be carried out by trainer Numan Aydınoğlu, will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 17.00 over CATS.

Kültür Point will organize “Diction and Effective Body Language Training” so that participants can speak Turkish effectively and use body language correctly. The training, which will be given by trainer İlknur Güneş, will be held on Friday, May 6, between 14.00-17.00 at Önder Öztunalı Hall.

As a scholar he produced, either on his own or in collaboration, several works which are greatly thought of even to this day. His translation of the History of Herodotus (in collaboration with Sir Henry Rawlinson and Sir John Gardiner Wilkinson), 1858–60; The Five Great Monarchies of the Ancient Eastern World, 1862–67; which was later expanded to include The Sixth Great Oriental Monarchy (Parthian), 1873; and The Seventh Great Oriental Monarchy (Sassanian), 1875. Among his other works were Manual of Ancient History, 1869; Historical Illustrations of the Old Testament, 1871; The Origin of Nations, 1877; History of Ancient Egypt, 1881; Egypt and Babylon, 1885; History of Phoenicia, 1889; Parthia, 1893; Memoir of Major-General Sir HC Rawlinson, 1898. His lectures to an audience at Oxford University on the topic of the accuracy of the Bible in 1859 were published as the apologetic work The Historical Evidences of the Truth of the Scripture Records Stated Anew in later years. Despite this somewhat prodigious output and alongside his other clerical and family duties he contributed to the Speaker's Commentary, the Pulpit Commentary, Smith's Dictionary of the Bible, and various similar publications. George Rawlinson died on 7th October, 1902 in Canterbury.
