How did you come to attend IKU? I got to know Istanbul Kültür University when I saw the poster "IKU Will Meet its Students" on the side of the road while driving through E-5 in 1997, and that I had made my mind to attend IKU. My IKU adventure started when I started studying at the Department of Mathematics-Computer. Years later, I did my master's degree at Istanbul Kültür University. At the same time, my brother and cousin also graduated from Kültür University. Did you work while you were a student at IKU? I started working at Koçbank in the summer of 1998, when I finished my first year, and continued to work there until I graduated in 2001. After graduating, I worked the 6:00-0:00 shift—some days even until the morning. This gave me very important insights in school and business life. How did your career journey begin after graduating? After graduating, I continued to work at Koçbank, where I worked as a student. Thanks to my mathematics and software background, I was able to work in planning, systems analysis, and project management fields after graduating. In 2004 I quit my job due to the compulsory military service. After returning from the military service, I started working at Global Bilgi, one of the Turkcell group companies. I worked there in different managerial positions such as planning, corporate performance management, business partner management and strategic planning for about 16 years. Afterwards, I decided to make a career change right in the middle of the pandemic and started working at Arkas Logistics. After undertaking identifying and managing the company's strategic transformation projects and being the customer experience coordinator, I am currently the E-Logistics Group Manager, where we moved the logistics business to a digital platform. What advice would you give to students and recent graduates? They have to be very curious and inquisitive. This is the most critical point and frankly I think it is indispensable. It is crucial that they understand what is going on in the world and to follow the trends closely. Afterwards, it is necessary to observe how these trends reflect themselves in the business world. If they can find the opportunity, going abroad will prove to be helpful for them, as well. I don't even need to talk just how important it is to know different foreign languages. It is very important for our fellow students not to immediately take everything they are taught for granted and to question everything. How do you find İKÜMED? Do you have any suggestions about it? As IKU graduates, it is obvious that we have a problem of acting together and lobbying. Therefore, I would like to thank İKÜMED for its efforts to bring the graduates together and to keep the IKU community together. For over 20 years, our graduates have been working in important positions. We as the alumni should support İKÜMED. I am sure that with this support greater things will be achieved. I would like to thank all İKÜMED management, and especially Ali Kaplanoğlu, for all the amazing work they do… |
