Sensual Women of the Sensual World!
 

COVID-19, which collapsed on the whole world like black cloud, has also put our country in captivity since the beginning of March. Declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, COVID-19 has almost radically changed the life routine of all people. The transformative effect of the virus, which we monitor step by step, continues at full speed. Now, can we use this process as an opportunity to change and transform the mistakes we know right?
It will take 100 years to achieve gender equality

Gender equality, which is considered as a requirement of human rights today; It is the understanding that women have equal rights with men and that they have equal opportunities in terms of participation in education, health, work, politics and decision-making mechanisms, which are the main areas of life. Although this understanding is included in international human rights documents, international conventions and the laws of countries, it is seen that there is still no equal opportunity for women.

The first week of March was the period of interviews, seminars, conferences planned for us within the scope of “International Women's Day” as it has been in the world. “Women Who Changed the World”, “Women Who Break the Ground in the Science World”, “Women Who Changed the Fate of the States”, “Iconic Women”, “Queens of Literature”, “Powerful Women” and more similar titles that we frequently hear these days are in the media or event titles was starting to take.

The Journal of Science and Technology for All is inspired by the scientists who are ranked among the scientists who shine the star of the Nature Magazine, with the title of the March 6 issue; The women who changed the world had identified as increasing. Tu Youyou, the pioneer of the war with malaria, Kiara Nirghin, who designed absorbent material from orange peels to facilitate soil retention and contribute to water saving, Nasa's first female mathematician Katherine Johnson and others with her stance against racism and the male-dominated society.

The irony is that on another page in the same issue of the magazine, which is given by the image above, and that there is a century of time ahead of us to ensure equality between women and men; It was the article quoted by Klaus Schwab from the World Economic Forum.

We have a long way to go before the equality of women and men in politics, business and social life. Today, 35% of women worldwide are still exposed to physical and psychological violence inflicted by their spouses, lovers or acquaintances. The proportion of women who think they have been discriminated against during a job application or job interview is more than twice the rate of men. There are still major disparities in the labor market. Sexual violence and abuse, unpaid care and uneven distribution of housework and discrimination in public positions still remain the biggest obstacle to equality.
Discreet Approach in Data Sense

Despite all this, I invite you to look at the woman from a different window. In other words, I would like to underline how COVID-19 successfully succeeded in an important struggle in the country, thanks to the woman's common sense and farsightedness.

In the news compiled from Milliyet's The Guardian newspaper dated March 15, 2020: The number of cases will disappear in line with the emergency measures taken in Hong Kong, one of the countries closest to China, with a population of 7.4 million, where the first COVID-19 incident occurred on 23 January 2020. Taiwan, one of the countries closest to China, which is the first place of COVID-19, was launched on 31 December, when it came to the news that there was a virus threat even before it was named in the first place, graduated schools, banned the export of basic materials that the public will need, and took urgent measures, even stocking medical supplies or not following the quarantine rules. It brought criminal sanctions to the issues. In this context, in the three-month period, COVID-19 was detected in only 48 people in Taiwan and caused the death of only one person.

In pandemic days, almost all of us followed the news channels, and in this context, the cases that developed both in the world and in our country. On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, common information was provided on all news channels. Countries that successfully tackled COVID-19 had a common feature. These eight countries’ leaders were women, which were designated as Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand, Iceland, Norway and Denmark, and exemplified the world.

Yes, women are strong, leaders, can change the world; because the woman also has common sense. Due to the roles they have undertaken, women have many acquired experiences in life. The women who take this experience and common sense while making sense of the data in their hands are extremely successful in the studies of reading and interpreting the data correctly. As stated before, we naturally do not have a mentality to discriminate between women and men, we believe that the way to end all forms of discrimination is through gender equality. However, when we examine the word “common sense/I feel” in the definition, we found that in general terms, it is combined in the explanation of the situation that can cause any kind of harm and a sense of self-protection. When we consider in this regard, no doubt that the conclusion we will reach is that although all the leaders on the subject acted rationally, they could not behave as emotionally as a woman leader in line with the genetic feature that came from her nature.

Lecturer Neslihan Tokat Ozan Attended A Seminar Held By TETSİAD
 

Lecturer Neslihan Tokat Ozan, Head of Home Textile Design Program at Istanbul Culture University Vocational School, attended the e-seminar titled “How trends in home textiles become a collection?” on Monday, May 18, 2020, with the invitation of the Turkish Home Textile Manufacturers and Businessmen's Association (TETSİAD). The event, which started with the design topic, continued with trends, reflection of the trends on home textile and detailed processes of creating a collection inspired by trends. The sample works shared in the event, which attracted more than two hundred participants from the textile industry, consisted of the collections prepared by Lecturer Neslihan Tokat Ozan, Head of the Program for Home Textile Design, and the selections of our students. The collections shared in the e-seminar for the sectoral cooperation between TETSİAD and Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School were highly appreciated by the participants. The selection of IKU Vocational School students, who can also benefit from TETSİAD's internship opportunities, was welcomed by TETSİAD members and stakeholders of the textile industry.

“Virtual Museum Tour”
 

“Virtual Museum Tour” was organized by Culture Point on Monday, May 18, 2020. The virtual tour of Adıyaman GAP Youth and Culture House Trainer and Volunteer Responsible Cem Gercek, the history of the Kingdom of Komagene was mentioned starting from the Ancient City of Petra. In the tour, after the Karakus Tumulus, Cendere Bridge and Kahta Castle, the history of the sculptures in Nemrut was shared by going to Mount Nemrut. 20 people attended the virtual tour, which lasted for an hour.

“Tricks of Foreign Language Learning” Training
 

Kültür Point organized a training on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 titled “Tricks of Learning Foreign Languages”. In the training given by the English Teacher Yağmur Toka; We talked about how to ensure permanent learning, the types of learning, how our minds work while learning a foreign language, and what techniques we apply, we can improve the language we learn. The training program, which shared detailed information on how to improve English, what levels to consider, and which resources to use, ended after answering students' questions. 30 people attended the training.

Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 13: 00, The Department of International Trade and Finance held an e-seminar titled “The impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on HR processes.” Didem Yücel Yıldızdal, Human Resources Manager of Orzax Pharmaceuticals, who attended the event as a speaker, explained the recruitment processes during the pandemic. Yıldızdal also answered the questions of the participants, stressing that there are also hires such as layoffs in this process and mentioned the competencies that jobseekers should add to them.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Tourism and Hotel Management Program lecturer Pelin Tuna evaluated Istanbul Kültür University's understanding of education, Vocational School's Distance Education approach, the quality of education and training of Tourism and Hotel Management Program, and the tourism sector in the May issue of Byprotokol magazine during COVID-19. Istanbul Kültür University Lecturer Pelin Tuna is also among the Editorial Board Members of the magazine.

Thursday, May 21 at 16: 00, the fifth edition of the “Agmer Webinar Series (Individual and Enterprise endurance)”organized by the Center for Family Enterprises and Entrepreneurship implementation and Research (AGMER) was held through the Adobe Connect virtual classroom application with the title “regeneration periods and importance in Family Companies”. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ali Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Eyüp Sabri Tuncer and Engin Tuncer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yüzyıllık Markalar Association, as speakers. Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School organized an e-seminar titled “Health Communication in the process of COVID-19” on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Selim Erdem, President of Perfection Istanbul Agency, who attended the event as a speaker, gave information about health communication, the level at which Turkey is in health communication, the differences of medical advertising from other advertisements, rules and creativity in medical advertising, the importance of digital media in health sector. Explaining how the COVID-19 process affects health communication and what communication and commercial strategies brands use/should use, Erdem emphasized the importance of the new normal health communication. Erdem answered the questions at the end of the seminar and raised the awareness of our students about health communication.

A webinar titled “Art and Health” was organized on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 13:00 on Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application in collaboration with the Cartoon and Animation Department and Culture Point.
