My Dear Kültür Family, As of May, we are in a period when the recovery phase is discussed and planned in both our business and education processes. When we look back , the uncertainty, or in other words, the shock phase, which we said we will see the results after experienced it, is now left behind. We have learned very important lessons on the importance of being prepared and aware of risks and crises. Our focus is now on planning the future with a focus on recovery.
I recently read a message of UPenn University, one of the most respected universities in the world, sharing pandemic actions related to health, safety, education and work processes. I have seen similar aspects in many respects with our crisis management practices that started as of March at our university. It was really encouraging both for myself and my university to observe that we could respond to a global crisis with universal reflexes. And after the pandemic, I sincerely believe that we will set universal standards in terms of recovery and planning for the future. My Dear Kültür Family, As of June, our agenda item that we have in our meetings with our academic and administrative staff will be the management of the new normal. In this process; we are gradually studying on the plans and scenarios for returning back to university. The program and detailed information about the activities to be carried out in our campuses will be shared with us regularly by KOVKOM. The most important issue in the return process is your health and safety. At this point, sterilization studies of our campuses were completed last week. Training programs were organized for our support staff within the scope of combating pandemic. Our sensitivity to health and safety will be followed precisely in the new normal order as well as before the pandemic. My Dear Kültür Family, In our near future scenarios, the 2020-2021 fall semester is considered at both academic and administrative levels. Among the topics that came to the fore in the meetings we held with the Board of Trustees, the Rectorate, our Deans and Heads of Departments; within the scope of the 2020-2021 fall semester measures, to further our talent sets at the academic and operational level; the hybrid model which offers distance and face-to-face education in a certain balance;the content of our academic programs, and relations with our students at the graduation stage are included. I believe that we will carry out our new normal action plan in the most correct way with our 60 years of deep-rooted experience in education communication, management and finance. My Dear Kültür Family, Planning the recovery phase has a very important place in the quality of our training and business processes. But there is a big difference between understanding reality and internalizing it. Unlike the first phase that we manage uncertainty, I think we are much more conscious, aware and prepared. The process also created a very rich memory that will shed light on the future and become a compass in stormy times. Keeping the content alive at covid19.iku.edu.tr, which is a memory of the first phase during this period, is also very important for us to internalize the realities. It is our responsibility to pay attention to the nourishment and updating of the portal with our concrete work. Secondly, we should accept that the recovery phase can only be solved with a holistic approach after such a big crisis. The more collaboration of our workforce, our students, our technological opportunities and our stakeholders at this stage, the quicker we leave the recovery period behind. Dear Kültür Family, Although pandemic is a health axis crisis, it caused serious economic side effects worldwide. Managing the economic recovery phase correctly is vital for our corporate resilience. At this point, we will work to protect and strengthen our existence within the new competitive system that may arise. We will continue our studies with short, medium and long-term plans to minimize the economic side effects of the pandemic. In order to return to our old construction and operation; Our priority should be to be planned, transfer the lessons learned from the pandemic to the healing process, and try to suppress the virus and possible new waves. Of course, without losing life love and enthusiasm... Dear Kültür Family, On this occasion, we congratulate you, on the occasion of your Sugar Festival, which is the best indicator of sharing, solidarity and protecting our values. I wish you healthy and happy holidays. Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver Chairman of İKÜ Board of Trustees |
