Distance Education at IKU

Dear Kültür’lü

In the period of distance education , some of your courses will be processed synchronously and some asynchronously in all programs.

Your synchronous lessons are held with a live classroom application. Tools such as live presentation, whiteboard application, desktop sharing and instant chat are used to provide your classroom experience in the physical environment.

We held 230 synchronous lessons yesterday and today.

Our students who have not yet experienced, we would like to let you know that your new synchronous lessons continue to open

Why do we do asynchronous lessons?

Asynchronous education is accepted worldwide as one of the most effective methods of distance education.

It's a way to personalize your learning beyond accessing your course resources anytime.

Asynchronous education encourages you to interpret and inquire information and discuss it with your teachers and classmates, allowing you to interact more with the course content than live classes.

Do not only read the course resources at IKU CATS. Be sure to actively use interactive tools such as forums, appointments, messages and chat rooms, ask questions, discuss, and benefit from all possibilities of asynchronous education.

Who is at More Risk in Covid-19 Infection?

The information so far obtained about the new Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has shown that some people are at greater risk of getting sick and developing serious symptoms.

- 80 percent of cases suffer from (relatively lighter) illness.

- 20% of cases are treated in hospital conditions.

- The disease generally affects people aged 60 and over.

People most affected by the disease:

- Those over 60 years old

- People with serious chronic conditions:

1) Heart disease

2) hypertension

3) Diabetes

4) Chronic respiratory patients

5) Cancer patients

6) Health care professionals

Are Children at Risk?

- The disease seems rare and mild in children.

- No deaths have been observed in children so far.

Are Pregnant at Risk?

There is limited scientific evidence about the severity of the disease in pregnant women who have developed new Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

However, available evidence suggests that the severity of disease among pregnant women after COVID-19 infection is similar to non-pregnant adult cases, and there is no data showing that COVID-19 infection has a negative effect on the fetus during pregnancy.

So far, there is no evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted from mother to baby during pregnancy.

20 Rules for Antivirus Mind

1)Neither virus nor panic should take our souls.

2)Measures should be taken and should not be left to the flow.

3) The stronger our ties to the world and our reasons for living are, the greater our resistance gets.

4) Our physical and mental resistance must be strong.

- Remember, if the soul and mind collapse, immunity is weakened!

5) It should be calmly rational, perceived and interpreted with reason, not with fear, impulse or emotion, and we have to deal with science.

6) People should pay attention to what scientists and experts say.

7) Fear produced fiction should not be considered

8) Generalized negativities should be avoided.

9) There is no defense line, but defense territory. (...)” Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

10) Even if stay alone, one should not feel alone

All kinds of virtual opportunities should be used to protect mental and emotional bonds.

11) Although the body is isolated, the soul should not be isolated.

12) Mental contact with the world should be strengthened.

13) The emotional bond with our loved ones needs to be maintained.

14) There is no need for psychological quarantine:

- Read a lot!

- Increase communication with your loved ones and friends: Communication and sharing is a strong intervention.

15) Our minds are nurtured by learning new things, our emotions by communication and sharing.

16) Science guidance should guide democracy, all social principles and institutions.

17) We must think of others, not be selfish, be fair, think universal.

18) We should not deny it, refrain from interpreting the disaster, and do not turn to fatalistic acceptance.

19) It should not be forgotten that this is a temporary process.

20) Under the guidance of reason and science, with love of human and nature, success will be achieved against the virus if we work together.

EBSCO will conduct a series of online user training to support the Distance Education decision taken under the measures of COVID-19.
