IKU ATAMER (Atatürk’s Principles and the History of the Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center) was established with the approval of the Senate of our University during the session dated September 16, 1999 as per Paragraph (d) (2) of Article 7 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, and it became effective after the approval of its organization and regulations in the Official Gazette dated March 21, 2000 and numbered 23996, published by the Council of Ministers.

Atatürk’s Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center (ATAMER):

The center, established following the publication and enactment of the regulation for the IKU Atatürk’s Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution Research and Application Center in the Official Gazette, has been operational since the beginning of the 1999–2000 academic year. In line with the education, training, and orientation plan prepared by the Presidency of Higher Education Council of Türkiye (YÖK) in 1985, many meetings and activities have been organized at our university with the participation of both faculty members and students.

Objectives and Tasks of the Center:

  • The Center conducts independent research projects in the field of Atatürk’s Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution. It provides its own accumulation of papers and documents, follows the current literature written by experts directly related to the subject and carries out the necessary work to create a central library and archive.
  • To organize talks, conferences, and panels on the subject, it researches and follows the speakers who are experts in their fields and make an impact, and contributes to the intellectual environment within our university by hosting these experts in the conference halls of our campuses, particularly on national official days, with the active participation of our students and faculty members.
  • The Center organizes activities in the fields of history and culture with students from the Atatürkist Thought Club to promote and widely disseminate Atatürk's principles. To achieve this goal, it supports and guides students in organizing interviews and conferences, where experts are invited to interact with students. It plays a key role in passing Atatürk's principles on to future generations.
  • In cooperation with the Atatürkist Thought Club, the Center organizes trips to historically significant regions and museums.
  • On certain dates of the year, it publishes articles on non-periodic topics in Istanbul Kültür University publications and supports the consolidation of Kemalist thought by distributing these publications to relevant private and public institutions and organizations.
