An application development project for virtual parcels on the metaverse universe which is https://decentraland.org/ was signed between Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) and OXS Informatics Limited Company/COINOXS operating in the field of blockchain technologies. Within the scope of the agreement, the "METABANG LOCAL" competition was held in hackathon format on May 16-17 in cooperation with İKÜ Directorate of Information Systems and Technologies, Technology Transfer Office, Culture Point, İKÜ Asimov Technology Club and COINOXS. 

The event hosted by our Ataköy Campus started with the opening speech of our Rector. In METABANG LOCAL, the first of the METABANG competition series, our students, competing in 4 teams of 5 each, worked intensely for 2 days and 1 night. At the end of the fierce race, our team named "IEEE Universe", who came first, was awarded five Republic Gold coins from our university and 2 thousand 500 USD from OXS Informatics. All of our students, who were able to design and implement such successful applications in such a short time, were also awarded by our university and OXS Informatics. Can Azizoğlu, the CEO of the company, also rewarded the outstanding achievement of all the students participating in the competition and announced that they were ready to sign a project-based contract with each one of them.

The presentations of the application designed by our students were held in Decentraland, the metaverse universe. The teams first presented their projects, then the winner was announced. The jury members, consisting of experts, considered many criteria while determining the winner, from the multidisciplinary nature of the project to its design, from software to gamification.

The series will be completed with METABANG PRO, hosted by İstanbul Kültür University (İKÜ), where teams of self-confident software students from all universities in Turkey will compete in the field of software in 2023, and with METABANG GLOBAL, where teams from worldwide universities will compete in 2024.
