16th Round of the Heybeliada Talks

Aiming to support the search for a lasting settlement in Cyprus through a multilateral dialogue and informed debate between various segments of society, GPoT Center organized the 16th round of the Heybeliada Talks in Nicosia's Buffer Zone on 18th June 2014.

Sponsored by the Open Society Foundation in Turkey, the event took place with the participation of approximately 20 political analysts, academics, civil society activists, political and opinion leaders, experts, and journalists from Greece, Turkey, and both sides in Cyprus.

Turkey-Armenia Journalism Award Ceremony 2014

GPoT Center organized the fourth annual Turkey-Armenia Journalism Award ceremony on 3 June 2014 at the Swedish Palace in Istanbul. The 2014 award went to Oral Çalışlar, Radikal, for his article "Ermeni Kardeşlerim ve Sevgili Hrant!".

Book Launch and Roundtable Discussion on Turkish-Israeli Relations

GPoT Center is pleased to host Mr. Oğuz Çelikkol, former Turkish Ambassador to Israel, for a closed roundtable meeting on Turkish-Israeli relations on 29 May 2014 in the premises of Istanbul Kültür University.

The half-day event covered the launch of the book “One Minute’ten Mavi Marmara’ya”, with the participation of academicians and distinguished journalists. The participants also discussed the current state of affairs of Turkish-Israeli relations as well as prospects for normalization of the bilateral relations of the two countries. 
 

Talks on Cyprus no. 3 - Roundtable Discussion with Mehmet Ali Talat

GPoT Center had the pleasure of hosting the second Turkish Cypriot President Mr. Mehmet Ali Talat, on 27 May 2014. The closed roundtable discussion was attended by the academic staff of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Istanbul Kultur University.

Mr. Talat shared his perspective on a prospective solution on the island and underlined the importance of trust between the negotiating parties for the newly restarted negotiations to lead to a successful end.

MITVIM-GPoT Center 3rd Policy Dialogue

GPoT Center, together with the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies (MITVIM), organized the 3rd MITVIM-GPoT Center Policy Dialog on 8 May 2014 in the premises of Istanbul Kültür University, Istanbul.

15th Round of the Heybeliada Talks

Following the resumption of the official Cyprus negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations in February 2014, GPoT Center organised the 15th round of the Heybeliada Talks to allow the Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots and participants from Turkey and Greece to meet and exchange views and opinions on the current developments on the island in parallel with the high-level track.

2nd Panel Discussion Held in the Memory of Amb. Suna Çokgür Ilıcak

Commemorating Amb. Suna Çokgür Ilıcak, GPoT Center, in collaboration with the Center for Strategic Research (SAM) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, and the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences (FSES) of the Comenius University in Bratislava, organized the second panel discussion held in her memory on 6 March 2014.

Talks on Cyprus no. 2 - Roundtable Discussion with Andros Kyprianou

GPoT Center hosted Mr. Andros Kyprianou, the Secretary General of the Progressive Party for the Working People (AKEL) of Cyprus. The event, co-financed by the Open Society Foundation in Turkey, took place on the premises of Istanbul Kültür University on January 20, 2014.

Talks on Cyprus no. 1 - Roundtable Discussion with Özdil Nami

GPoT Center hosted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mr. Özdil Nami for a closed roundtable meeting on Cyprus.

The event, co-sponsored by the Open Society Foundation in Turkey, was held on 20 December 2013 on the premises of Istanbul Kültür University, with the participation of approximately 20 policy makers, former high-level state officials, and experienced journalists.
