Potreboval ju na zmenu ústavy, ktorá by hlave štátu udelila široké výkonné právomoci. AKP sa však napokon musela uspokojiť so 40 percentami hlasov, čo znamená, že samostatne už nevytvorí väčšinovú vládu.
