The extensive report on humanitarian problems faced by third parties in Cyprus entitled “Reconciliation Through a Common Purpose: Third Party Human Rights in Cyprus” was successfully launched in Nicosia on December 16th, 2010.
The event took place in the Buffer Zone with the participation of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot civil society activists, political party representatives from both communities, government and international organizations officials as well as academicians.
Dr. Areti Demosthenous, Director of the Institute of Historical Research for Peace based in Nicosia visited GPoT Center on December 10th, 2010.
Dr. Demosthenous delivered a lecture on the Cyprus talks and the latest developments in the property issue. Students from the IR department at Istanbul Kultur University had a chance to share their opinion on the Cyprus question with Dr. Demosthenous and discuss some of the striking issues related to the current Cyprus talks.
GPoT Center organized the 8th Round of the Heybeliada Talks in a series of second-track diplomacy meetings bringing together Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.
The meeting took place between the 27th and 28th of November, in Polonezköy with the participation of academics, political experts and past and present representatives of the official negotiation teams.
Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF), in partnership with the Global Political Trends Center (GPoT), its primary partner in Turkey, organized a two-day conference with the support of USAID.
Dr. Mensur Akgün, with his colleague Dr. Sylvia Tiryaki, attended the Subministerial Meeting of the Forum for the Future 2010, which was held on November 8th, 2010 in Ottawa, Canada.
Mensur Akgün visited China, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, who was invited for an official visit by his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
The 7-day long visit involved meetings with Chinese officials, a round-table talk with researchers at the China International Research Institute, visits of many cultural sights in the country as well as the closing ceremony of the EXPO fair.
