Over a two-week period, 16 journalists from Turkey and Armenia traveled over 3,500 kilometers in Turkey, Georgia, and Armenia, meeting with over 40 civil society representatives, politicians, media leaders and “everyday” citizens as well as visiting dozens of historical and cultural sites in order to gain first-hand insight into their neighboring country and to report in-depth about Turkey-Armenia relations from the field.
GPoT Center, in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), hosted a roundtable meeting entitled “Relations between Germany, Israel and the Arab World" with the participation of Mr. Christian Lange, Member of Parliament (SPD), Germany, and Deputy Chairman of the Discussion Group on Israel of the Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag.
GPoT Center, in collaboration with Yerevan Press Club (YPC), brought five Turkish journalists to Armenia between the 3rd and 9th of May, 2012 under the "Pre-election Exchange of Journalists" program which is a part of the Support to Turkey-Armenia Rapprochement Project.
GPoT Center, together with other eight international partner institutes, co-organized the "Smart Defense: Can a Lean NATO Meet the Challenges of the 21st Century?" conference hosted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in Chicago between March 28th and 30th, 2012.
GPoT Center was represented at the event by GPoT Center Director, Dr. Mensur Akgün, GPoT Center Deputy Director, Dr. Sylvia Tiryaki, and GPoT Center High Advisory Board members, Ambassador Ümit Pamir and Lt. Gen. Şadi Ergüvenç.
GPoT Center organized the screening of a selection of films made by Turkish and Armenian students in their neighboring countries at Istanbul Kültür University on December 23rd, 2011.
The six Turkish and Armenian students made the films in 2011 as part of the "Dialogue-Building between Armenia and Turkey" project, funded by the United States Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Rights and Labor. The films were co-produced by Internews Armenia and CAM Film (based in Istanbul), with the support of GPoT Center. They were screened in Armenia between December 5th and 7th, 2011.
GPoT Center organized the 11th Round of the Heybeliada Talks with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation on the 17th of December, 2011.
It has been a great pleasure for GPoT Center to host Dr. Knut Kirste, a senior officer from NATO’s Public Policy Divison on December 15th, 2011 at a roundtable meeting on the topic of “Emerging Security Challenges: What role for NATO?”.
GPoT Center, in cooperation with the European Movement Denmark, organized a conference entitled “EU-Turkey Relations and the Denmark Presidency” on December 6th, 2011 in Copenhagen with the participation of Turkey's Minister of European Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bağış.
GPoT Center, in collaboration with Internews Armenia, brought 4 Turkish journalists to Yerevan between November 20th and 24th, 2011. The journalism exchange was part of the "Dialogue-Building Between Turkey and Armenia" project.
GPoT Center hosted a conference with Dr. Alon Liel, in which he presented photos from his, and Mr. Can Yirik’s, book Turkish-Israeli Relations (1949-2010), a pictorial history of the bilateral relationship from its foundations to the present day.
