The Perception of Turkey in the Middle East, a research conducted by Mensur Akgün and Sabiha Senyücel Gündoğar and published by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV), was launched on February 2nd, 2012.
Narod Maraşlıyan from GPoT Center attended the three-day Public Writing and Analysis Training from the 26th to the 28th of January, 2012. Part of the "Support to Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement" project, the event was organized by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) and the Yerevan-based International Center for Human Development (ICHD) with the support of USAID.
Dr. Mensur Akgün and Dr. Sylvia Tiryaki from GPoT Center attended the “Global Movement of Moderates” Conference, organized in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 17-19, 2012. The theme of the Conference was “In Pursuit of an Enduring and Just Peace.” The attendants of the Conference varied from top echelons of the Government to academia, civil society and media.
The second piece in our Op-Ed series is devoted to the figure of the former President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Rauf Denktaş, who passed away on January 13th, 2012. The Op-Ed features two articles. The first one is entitled "Instead of Farewell / Veda Yerine" and is written by Dr. Sylvia Tiryaki. The second one entitled "Denktaş No More / Denktaş Artık Yok" is written by Dr. Mensur Akgün.

In June 2009, GPoT Center published a book by the former Turkish Cypriot President, Rauf Denktaş, and Professor Michael Moran. The publication, entitled “Cyprus: Unity and Difference,” is a collection of letters exchanged between President Denktaş and Professor Moran.

Dr. Akgün participated in the panel discussion "Evaluation of the Turkish Foreign Policy" organized by the Bilim ve Sanat Vakfı (Foundation for Science and Art - BISAV) on December 21, 2011 in Istanbul.

GPoT Center Director Dr. Mensur Akgün and Deputy Director Dr. Sylvia Tiryaki attended a series of meetings at the United Nations Department of Political Affairs (DPA) Policy and Mediation Division, directed by Ambassador Levent Bilman, between December 10th and 15th, 2011 in New York City.
With the aim to increase the cooperation between Turkey and Indonesia on the issue of democratic movements in the MENA region, a group of diplomats from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited GPoT Center on December 8th, 2011.
Four Turkish students traveled to Armenia from December 5th to the 7th, 2011 to participate in numerous screenings of their short documentary films, which they shot in Armenia earlier this year.
Susae Elanchenny attended the "Partnership Program between Turks and Armenians" conference, organized by Columbia University's Program on Peace-building and Rights and the International Center for Human Development, from December 5th to 6th, 2011 in Yerevan.
The conference allowed the Turkish and Armenian partners of the USAID-funded "Support to Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement (SATR)" program to evaluate the previous year of the project and discuss the scope of activities for the coming year.
